  1. Total Eclipse - Violent Relaxation http://www.discogs.com/release/93508 I never thought I'd get this version last of all... but now I have Substance CD, Blue Room vinyl, Blue Room promo CD, and Blue Room retail CD versions =) Edit: I now have 140 Blue Room records =) (plus the 4 or so I have yet to submit to Discogs) Various - Singularity http://www.discogs.com/release/3723 Flying Rhino is a total bitch to complete, even out of the 1990's stuff I'm missing like 20 releases still.
  2. As has been stated many times, there are many ambient releases with longer tracks than luciana. For the longest (released) continous piece ever, please see my comment here.
  3. I rip to 192kbps MP3. If I want uncompressed audio, I have the original CD/vinyl. It's a 120 GB drive and it's got 7 gigs free. The MP3 archive is 8700+ files, and then there is some WAV stuff on there as well (13GB).
  4. I have around 8000 unique tracks on my home harddrive, and thats just counting the stuff I've ripped off of my own records. So I think the 25000 figure is pretty good, and possibly even low considering the release frenzy in recent years (I have VERY few 21st century releases). edit: I forgot that this covers more than goa/psy, but still... 25k+ sounds plausible.
  5. Ka-Sol - "Earth" has a sound that is quite cat-like... MEEOOOW, MEEEEOOOOOOW =)

  11. the $55 was Buy It Now, which explains quite a lot.
  12. You forgot to change the BPMs - those listed are for the Khetzal album.
  13. Holy hell, you found a 1993 fax CD not listed on Discogs! I was under the impression that such a "collectors label" would be complete by now...

  15. it's 160 kilobit per second, which amounts to roughly 17-ish kilobyte per second, or a megabyte per minute. An hours worth of listening is 60 megs and it would take you just over 100 hours to max out your 6 gigabyte quota, if you only listen to philosomatika. That would break down to 3 hours 20 minutes of listening time per day. But seeing as you post here, you clearly do other things with your precious gigabytes too =)

    RA tracks?

I would assume that Discogs is where he found them. I would bet Discogs has it wrong, though.
  17. if possible, I'd strongly encourage you to get a flat rate connection.
  18. A few light snacks today building up to the bunch I'm getting tomorrow: California Sunshine - Miko & Har-El http://www.discogs.com/release/78670 Har-El Prussky - New Pagan World http://www.discogs.com/release/99399
  19. I disagree. Very few records cost more now than when they were released. Admittedly, some cost *much* more, but the vast majority of releases, including many many of the greatest ones, can be found for 15 euro or less if you just look around. Some are also very hard to find, but with a bit of patience and some searching effort you can find pretty much anything. If you want to have everything, obviously it's going to cost tens of thousands of euro, but noone buys everything at once! And just because you want everything doesn't mean you have the right to get it. I want a 24-inch LCD screen to my computer, but as I can't afford it, I just accept that and either try to save up for it, or go with something else. The same basic logic applies to music as well, but a lot of people act as though they have the right to have any music they want, which is bullshit. That last paragraph isn't directed at you, reger...

  22. RTP, amen to that =) I am buying a lot of CDs lately, but look at my collection; I LOVE VINYL =) I even have a t-shirt that says that (a spoof of the classic I [heart] NY" design) When I move to a new appartment this summer, I will have an entire wall of vinyl records. When full, it will hold 5000 records... If I ever have that many, it will be a pretty awesome sight =)
  23. Yeah. I think the thing is that the people who are manic collectors now grew up with CDs; They didn't get into this type of music until like 99 or later, and then the vinyl was already disappearing. So they've never been big on vinyl, and hence to them CDs are "the real thing". For me it was the other way around; I've always been a vinyl person, since I started buying music in the mid 80's, before the CD format became mainstream.
  24. It's been done, sort of: http://www.discogs.com/release/7301
  25. OK so I checked now anyway =) It looks like the one I have is this: http://www.discogs.com/release/48320 at least that's the catalogue number and the tracks match. Haven't played it though.
