  1. I think these and many other authentik tracks lack atmosphere. They use the same sounds as in many of their releases under the name Three Point Turn too. Still, this is pretty good stuff if you like it hard. Delta did a remix of "Solid" that adds some atmosphere, so I would recommend trying to get ahold of that one instead.
  2. I like this one too, a great opening track for a morning set (time machine). This is the first ever release from John Decaro, who is american by the way. The first non-swede to release on Acid Casualties which has changed name to ACDC now. To sum it up; pretty classy production, beautiful floating mood in a tastefullly restrained way. Recommended.
  3. Rumour records released the once legendary series of compilations simply called "Trance". I think Trance 6 was the last one. It included the classic "Octopus" by Art Of Trance, among others.
  4. I agree that this is absolutely brilliant stuff (didn't I tell you about this EP a while back stormbringer? but I wouldn't compare it to d.drum. The stuff from Delta and other d.drum acts is much more sober, while this is insanity gone wrong, sort of. I'd rather compare it to another french label, turbo trance records. This, however, is harder, darker, noisier and most importantly; better. There's a compilation coming out on sub machine records soon with 2 new tetraktys tracks (Ptah and Odyssey). I really look forward to that compilation. This EP gets a solid 9/10 from me, which is very very rare :-)
  5. Aaah, good old symbiosis. How I miss them... too bad they spent it all on drugs. This is a really sweet piece of vinyl, but sounds a bit dated by todays standards. Still evokes a lot of memories though. Mine doesn't say "In-Trance" though, just Guy Sebbag.
  6. I like this EP. Sure, it's a tad cheesy if compared to the most dark and sinister stuff out there, but in my opinion Ollie Wisdom makes far more interesting full-on stuff that what's been coming out of 3D Vision recently. These two tracks are *very* full-on with awesome kickdrum and ripping sounds. The plentiful supply of high frequencies made me happy too, those are neglected much too often these days of minimalism. This isn't exactly innovative, but it IS different from his sound 3-4 years ago (and it's a good differance) and it's very well done in my opinion. 7/10 from me, would have gotten more with a little less sample-overuse and if it was a tad more innovative. Still not bad at all. Really recommended for every fan of full-speed-ahead FX & ripping synth line psy.
  7. I haven't listened to every track from beginning to end (I couldn't stand most of them, thats why) but after giving each one a quick listen, Amygdala - Synaptic Misfire stood out as the most tasteful and well produced. Thats probably the only one I'd have bought if I found it as a 12". Most of the tracks sound waaay to old-school for me. Note however that I have a fair amount old goa stuff lying around at home that I play once in a while, but the combination of somewhat poor production, tracker-ish structures/buildups and the fact thats it's the year 2001 and not 1995 made me skip through most of these. Sure, there were some very nice ideas to be found and a cool sound or two, but that doesn't mean it's automatically good music, at least not to me. The solstice track was interesting but didn't do much for me. Give that one a listen though, after Amygdala, that is
  8. This is sooo worth it for the prometheus track alone. Wonderfull bassling and brilliant buildups that makes you wiggle your hips and smile at the sunrise. As Johan points out the saiko-pod track is a very nice production indeed and a step in a new direction which is always interesting, but the track just doesn't do it for me. It's the prometheus side of this single that's going to get worn out first.
  9. I agree with the above, the prometheus track is very, very good indeed. Absolutely beautiful track that makes you wiggle your hips and smile as you keep riding into the sunrise :-) The saiko-pod track doesn't have the atmosphere that "snowblind" does, And I find some of the sounds to be a bit out of place. Still, as Johan point out, it's an amazing production nonetheless. I just don't see myself playing it much. This is very well worth yor pennies for the Prometheus track alone though.
  10. I forgot to mention a few things: This album has resemblance to tracks such as Pop and Thing from Scizoeffective, but you won't find another "travelling at the speed of thought" on here. You will, however, find stuff that makes wizzy noise seem like the theme from teletubbies (almost, at least).
  11. It's quite clear that the Spirallianz/Midimiliz guys are heavily involved in this project now, as the production resembles theirs in many ways. Compare to the recent spirallianz release on spirit zone (#095) for example. The patchfinder track off of that EP could just as well have been a track on this album. This is not as hard as the Authentik album (released on the same label) but in places even more distorted and techno-ish. More importantly, it's a million times more atmospheric and moody than that one. This is NOT techno by the way, and it's certainly not very psychedelic either. Instead this is something new, and something I really enjoy. Heavy bass, distorted pumping rhythms and atmospheric sounds on top. Not much in terms of melody, but I don't mind. Ranging from freaky industrial sounds to pianos, the ambient overlays makes this album really excellent. It has a sort of doomsday mood, a kind of sadness over it. Track 3, "Standby", is a good contender for the track of the year in my opinion, it's just *perfect* for a damp, dark, cold autumn. My favourites are 2, 3, 4, 7 and 9. The tracks that are more "dry" and lack the sweeping armageddon atmospheres are less interesting in my opinion (they sound too much like the more dull productions from midimiliz), and unlike Insejn above I think track 6 is the weakest of this album. Track 5 doesn't quite do it for me either, at least not for home listening. The last track is a downbeat thing, much like the slower tracks on the Authentik album. To sum this up, we have an extremely well produced album in a style that is only beginning to appear in the scene. With only a few weak tracks and the good ones being REALLY good, I'll give this 8 or 9 out of 10.

    Kinetico - Atmosphere

I agree with mister Son Kite above, his older stuff on groundgroove is really excellent and I really like the stuff released as Kinetico on flying rhino too. It's not revolutionary perhaps (though Massivo Vivona has done more for trance music than most others ever will), but oh so well produced, warm and dancable. This is feel-good music, *quality* progressive trance, with an emphasis on trance. If you're into full-on goa then look elsewhere, but if you enjoy Son Kite, Ticon and similar artists you'll LOVE this.

    The Delta - Pop

I actually think PCB For The Carseats is the better track here. It's not as driving as the Pop remix, not as hard either I believe, but oh my god what a killer bass! And the percussion is really nice too. I'd give the pop remix 6/10 or possibly a 7, while PCB For The Carseats gets 8 bordering on a 9. I might have been of a different opinion if I hadn't heard Delta live in compenhagen in early June this year, where I truly got to understand the essence of The Delta. Ever since I got this EP, I've been trying to make music like PCB For The Carseats. Slow (130-135 perhaps? I haven't measured), insanely bass heavy, distorted rattling yet clean percussion and big moody ambient sounds on top. This, along with D.Drum 005 (Anomalie) is one of my favourite EPs at the moment.
  14. I agree with the above, this is brilliant morning music. Veryy nice production, organic progression and very pleasant and yet not too cheesy sounds. Tasteful trance for the dawn.
  15. The anomalie track is somewhat boring and more hard/dark than good in my opinion. Ode To Arcadia on the other hand, is truly brilliant. This EP is worth every penny for that track alone.
  16. I agree that this 12" is very good indeed. It gets a bit repetitive after a while, but I think thats good; this is more of a DJ tool than most other psy-trance singles. So, take a fantastik kick/bassline, awesome sounds and a very nicely crafted mood and cross-breed it with the song structures of well produced techno (and its mixability) and you get this. Highly recommended night music.

    Vibrasphere - Airfield

I would have to say this is a very fine relese. The best on ACDC for a long time - right up there with the singles from atmos and noma (ACDC001 and ACDC002). It's not full on or super-trancey, but it's very very tasteful, flowing and well produced. I always feel good when I listen to this EP.
  18. Well, unlike my friend stormbringer I enjoyed this one - heavy and quite dark as well as monotonous yet far more exciting than X V Kilist and such artists. It's not spectacular but it's one of my favourite "minimalist" trance singles. If you enjoy Plastic Park releases this is certainly for you. Also check out release 4 on Sub Machine - I got my copy yesterday and that one is VERY intense with lots of stuff going on yet never losing it's pumping, chugging style.

    V/A - Sun Tribe 1

This compilation has Human Blue: "Sandal Wood" on it. That is all you need to know.
  20. If you like the other BOTFB releases such as the album, this is worth the money for Domestic Bliss only. Since this is a bit old and released on the rather small label Kavator, it is probably rather hard to come by these days. But if you do, and like psychotic and yet melodic, hard ripping psy, then cash up, because this is the real thing (Oh, and by the way - yeah I'm a BOTFB collector so I'm probably quite biased but it's still good
  21. Migot Komorek fucking ROCKS. The bass is awesome and the ultra quirky sounds on top are very cool. This is music for the deep forest parties... I hope to hear this at some outdoor event this summer, that'd rock. This is like a cross-breed of the bass and funk of Son Kite and the nuttiness of Hux Flux. Excellent.

    S-Range - Boom

The best releases on acid casualties are #1 and 2. The second one Son Kite put out (#6, or what was it?) on this label was good too, but this isn't all that impressive. Nothing stands out really, I loose interest quite fast. It's allright, but nothing spectacular. 6/10
  23. Zabra also released a 3-track EP on spiral trax, Waterworld EP. It's SPIT009 and it's VERY good. Zabra is ex-israeli Zwi Akierman, now living in Stockholm I think. He has some more tracks that can be bought online here: http://stage.vitaminic.se/liamuiga/
  24. "this is pure techno"? Hahahaha!
  25. "Pop" is probably the most amazing music production I've heard in my entire life. It's not the best track I've ever heard or anything, but the production... oh my. How they can achieve such monstrous pressure in the bass without any distortion is a true mystery. I've tried to make a kick drum and a bassline myself and have it sound as beefy, but no matter what I do I cannot even come close. I wasn't too surprised when I saw that Arne Shaffhausen (one half of Midi Miliz) had co-produced "Pop" and a few other tracks...
