What do you mean by todays fullon doesn't have the rolling bassline o_O It's whats all the people are ranting about(todays psytrance having it) -
Samples that you never want to hear again....

Dune...traveling without moving... Not that I hate it, but I heard it like a million times ^^ -
Wow dude I'm listening to it right now and I love it! I like the contrasts in skyward dreams(silent vs loud) I also like your beats because they aren't the standard kick snare type Could you perhaps give me some tips on how to construct such powerful drones

I like this one. It lets you draw your waveforms and it's good as a normal subtractive synth as well. http://www.cableguys.de/curve-download.html

sound inspiration thread

I sometimes grab a random sample, cut it, and use it for percussion ^^ a good example of that would be squishing a plastic bottle. -
wtfomgbbq! one of my favs returns!

Downtempo Goa (or something like that)

Me likes as well. The best part is the stuff around 3:20. I like layered gated melodies -

Hehe thanks. I didn't expect such positive feedback even if so little of it. Oh and bump. :posford: -

If you mean the stuff around 1:00, its filtered stereo delays automated so that the panning changes, distortion, automated filters and reverbs mostly. Nice to hear you like it btw. -
www.myspace.com/zaltwater Please listen to those and tell me what you think about anything, especially what you don't like aboot them. :posford: I also posted this into the music promotion, but I want to see what other musicians think of it. Btw songs are different from eachother and it was mixed on headphones because my speakers are kind of lousy, so listen to it with headphones if you can. Thank you for your time

I could say my taste is broad, but it is also very narrow. I listen to a lot of genres, but only selected artists from these genres, for example I dislike most commercial music Psy I listen to: psytech, minimal, prog, new and oldschool goa, some(mostly morning) full on, some darkpsy and from the non psy genres: techno(industrial and minimal mostly), ambient(especially beatless and/or dark or ritualistic or martial, I don't like breakbeats in ambient) a lot of types of industrial from very technoish rythmic noise to martial industrial, some IDM(but I prefer my music less random ), some d'n'b, doom metal, experimental metal and post sludge metal. I generally dislike all things on mtv and I just can't seem to get into rock(except some post rock)and house . I also can't stand verse-chorus-verse Examples: http://www.last.fm/user/d123km4_157312/

What are you using to sequence with?
drekmajster replied to devious's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
started with fruity, but ive been using ableton for quite some time now. -
Nothing wrong with brakes imo, but I generally try to avoid the "drop everything except one part and restart a buildup" kind of brakes. I love those one bar technoish transmissions tho.

+1 Make that +2. I just start making it and I make it. It's sometimes hard to get rid of a loop I like without using the usual 'one part remains' thing.

Psychoacoustics, second track.

Yeah I thought of it as a storm passing when I stopped listening to it. -

Nono I just have to draw a line and if I draw a linear line, i get an exponential increase thats all. Acidkills: thanks for the VSTs, but I haven't really made much more than just a test because I was lacking time and inspiration. -
Psychoacoustics, second track.

I like the song a lot. I like the panning and the rythm is nice. I think the kicks are ok, but I suck at mastering. -

Please do. I never said I'm not going to use plugins tho.(the ones you told me about should be a great help) -
Experimenting with psychoacoustics
drekmajster replied to TRohr's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Sure will, but it will take time. I have been thinking a about it yesterday and I decided that the parts on the wheels will change so that they will form some kind of melodies or whatever you call that. Also everything that isn't wheels will pulsate with the same rythm and I will make the song accelerate very slowly(I will make it accelerate from static to bassline speed, but here is a problem: So if you accelerate the song like in figure A, you get figure B because the speed at which the tempo is accelerating accelerates, so I would have to use C to get linear acceleration, but does anyone know what kind of a graph should I use in order to get C? Damn... I just hope this will sound as good as it looks -

Acidkills thanks for those plugins, I'll look into them. Now that I posted this, I have finally decided to make it. The first step will be making 10 drones in the same frequency range that will spin on the cogs.(I want it to be a number not devidable by 2 because the most silent and the loudest don't overlap this way.) I still haven't decided if I'll make the drone constant or make each one progress on its own. I will also add other drones in the background in the frequency ranges where the cog ones wont be and maybe a rythm when they 'hit'. By the way if anyone else thinks this is a good idea and that they could make it, give it a shot as well. -

drekmajster replied to TRohr's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I once thought of using multiple drones being panned left and right to create two giant cogs grinding together(like imagine two circles with dots on them and the circles spin in opposite directions and the listener is between them)and binarual beats with the frequency of the cogs 'hitting'. I never made it tho mainly because I would have to use some very different drones in similar frequency bands and I would also have to find out how to make a sound sound behind you. About other things, I like to add effects that can't be heard without concentrating a lot and very subtle changes. I think my next project should use more panning and try to make my music more 'physical' in general. I'm still looking for some kind of concept tho(I never worked with a concept so it should be interesting). But first, I have to learn how to use Cubase(I just love some of the functions there) and how to make better sounds with my DX7iid and VSTs -
do you use the arpeggiator?
drekmajster replied to Reznik's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I prefer to make my own to prewritten ones, but I rarely use melodies anyway
