  3. my rating: 10 the call of cthulhu 9 very very good 8 pretty good 7 average/good 6 poor with some gems 5 mediocre/bad i also add a color for buying, but all of this is personal of course colors are: green: must buy grey: try b4 buy red: AVOID
  4. i've cleaned up my review a bit link this album still enjoys gold status in my collection
  5. tons of parties like this in belgium all summer, even too much so some festivals suffer from small crowds, not fun. low bpm music is a rarity these days on goa parties' main floors but i could still churn out a more trancy set ranging from 120 to 135 bpm, as could a few other djs here on the belgian scene i'm sure... it would have to be on request or at the deliberate desire of the dj though, i know anoebis plays low bpm goa sometimes in his sets but i a bit different from this trancey stuff here... ah well, you know what they say... if you want something done right... cassettes still are far better in audio quality than mp3s i'm afraid, i think cassette standard lives up to cd quality but i'm not sure... attention whoring, every artist is forced to do it sometimes. it's not fun but it has to be done...

  10. gms - houston we have a problem is probably the oldest track i' ve heard in the typical psy-chill style (1997)
  11. usually what astrix does is noteworthy with (voice)samples, then again, i'm not much of a fan of his "new" sound

  20. bicycles for elita is just the nicest dub track ever!!!!! and birds over the dark city is superb too!!!!!!! funky shit!!! i think the chillout tracks are of an equally high standard as the psytrance tracks! e-mantra's tracks are slow deep trance and the melodies mostly never go too hectic, feels like floating in deep space all the time, the neurosect remix is a nice darker track too i'd rate the full album a stellar 8,5/10!!!! some of the best stuff of the year! very funny they finally decided not to use my mastering files, even though e-mantra asked me in the first place, ah well i missed the deadline anyway and sent in overcompressed files the first time so maybe they didn't trust the final versions i sent in the tracks on the cd definitely sound much more flat and shallow than mine so it's definitely not my work. i guess it's all about who's name is on the back cover in the end, regardless of the mastering. hah! you can find some samples of my mastering for this cd here get this cd it's worth it!!
  21. 01: arkadii's track is my fav for this comp, slow pumping and very trancey, topped off with that flute synth that makes me feel like an eagle floating at 3000 km high in the andes, i think it's very trippy and psychedelic 02: great cinematic track with a very creepy feel, not much melodies but all the more pulsating and mesmerizing drums in the distance, the sample in the end makes it all the more haunting, true pantheon stuff 03: contrasting track, light and playful melodies arranged over a roaring deep bassline. the atmosphere is very oriental and mysterious 04: another creepy stormer track, very monotonous for a maximized trance effect, once that chorus synth kicks in it's unstoppable, this is the dimension of imagination 05: neo classical trance, bulking dark voices in the beginning with dreamy acid synths and mad wobbling leads coming after, in the end there's a more trance inspired part but it unexpectedly switches to full blown psy again just before the end. 06: crazy full sounding track, lots of acid wobbling and rising filters to pop your senses, funky and yet a bit a dark oldschool goa vibe here, very nice! cosmosis stuff! 07: this one is more fullon style, but with nice mesmerizing and entrancing hypnotic leads, very entertaining 08: more fullon style, very melodic and full, it's goes so fast and it keeps you so interested it's over before you know it 09: downtempo goa trance tune, with a great sample from homer simpson, crazy how much this track reminds me of extreme-G on the N64, its has a desolate and empty (outer space) feel to it, which is so strong and well-built you just want hear more and more, a real oldschool sci-fi tune with a psytrance beat, i totally love it! all in all i think it's a very original compilation with a nice conceptual approach to psytrance and goa trance, while not shunning some more fullon sounding, but still heavily oldschool-inspired psytrance. download it at: ~psydance~
  22. it's out one week, 6500 downloads so far nice!! you can vote on the neogoa website which compilation you like best!
