  1. I'm getting a curious sense of deja-vu... +1
  2. Really? I didn't know that. Based on the replies in this thread it seems that Mubali is winning the "nice guy" poll.
  3. I agree with you about this - I really don't like the goth-style fixation with death, satanism etc. that has crept into a lot of psytrance artwork. I don't want to be made to think about that kind of thing while I'm partying and I don't see what any of it has to do with "psy" or "trance". Not all darkpsy is like that though, and it certainly isn't what darkpsy is "about".
  4. Because I'm a nice guy with a good education. Why can't you just accept that not everyone has to have the same taste in music as you? It happens that I do believe that there is such a thing as objective quality in music, even though nobody can define it or come up with an objective procedure to test for it (the same is true of truth, but few people doubt that it nonetheless exists). But I usually can tell the difference between music that I don't enjoy because it's bad and music that I don't enjoy because I don't understand it. The fact that you repeatedly describe darkpsy as "random noise" when it doesn't sound random to the people who like it suggests that you don't understand it, just as surely as somebody who thinks that the Fibonacci sequence is random doesn't understand it. edit: OK, admittedly the "nice guy" part is debatable.
  5. Damn. Everybody knows that the number of people who like music is directly proportional to its quality - I mean, just look at the great records that make it to number one in the charts every week. I guess darkpsy sucks after all.
  6. Darkpsy is not random noise. If it sounds that way to you then that is because you don't understand it. Based on the CDs he has made recently, IMO he still does play the absolute best psy released. You're entitled to your own opinion on the kind of music he plays nowadays, but don't go round assuming that everyone who goes to see Gil play does so because of his personality cult, that's just insulting. Lots of people love the music he plays.
  7. That's OK. Do you know whether a backlog of email alerts for recently-sent PMs will appear in the future? I ask because I have attempted to contact an inactive poster by PM, and I'd like him to know about it but I don't want to inadvertently hassle him.
  8. I don't follow this at all. If you think that Gil is fake now, did you not think he was fake when he played Goa? Why shouldn't an old hippy holy man play darkpsy? They seem to go pretty well together to me.
  9. When I first saw the name "Pavane" I assumed it was Pavel pretending to be a girl so he could post in the females only thread.
  10. Another question rather than a complaint: does anybody know whether email alerts for PMs are working at the moment?
  11. I have a lot of respect for Gil, he makes and plays fantastic music (he was responsible for my favourite albums of both 2005 and 2006), though I have heard stories about him acting like a twat from a few sources. As for his mixing, I've never heard him play live but the mixing on Karmageddon is some of the best I've heard.
  12. dick splash.

    you like that?

  13. Big noses FTW!

  14. Welcome back, whoever you argh.
  15. Probably something to do with French. edit: test edit edit2: I used full edit that time. Still no edit alarm on my post (at least not one that I can see). edit3: nor is there one when I log out, though I can still see one on psytones' post. So that isn't it.
  16. everywhere i go, i see reger because of this, i will squeeze out reznik

  17. When I read your post psynews tells me it has been edited, but doesn't tell me that my post directly above yours has been edited (which it has). Is it the same for you?
  18. Not a complaint but something about which I've been curious for a while: why is it that sometimes when a post has been edited there is small print at the bottom saying "this post has been edited by suchandsuch: suchandsuch o'clock", and sometimes there isn't?
  19. I have been wondering whether or not to get this for a while. Your opinion is noted.
