i bought this one right when it was released, and it still sounds fresh to me! it's an album that never can be understood as once in a whole. it sets me in a different mood everytime. i might listen to this again today

me wonders too.....lookin nice it does!

hi! i'm looking for an old goa tune, most probably from around 1997 (at least the tape which it was on was from this time). the problem is that i lost the tape in question, and it's years ago that i heard this track last time. so all i know basically is that it starts with some wind/storm samples, and then there's a sitar fading in. overall, the track is pretty heavy with a real blasting kick. heck, i don't even remember if it was a melodic track or not. still, i hope anyone can do something with this....would be damn awesome! cheers, roman

i second all the appreciation anthems here. for me its real fun sound, despite being all spacey and psychedelic. so easy-going-like.

imo you should credit the compiler always. same as mastering engineers, graphic designers etc. should be credited (i personally haven't ever paid special attention to the names of the designer, i hardly know any...). it would be a bit unfair to just not credit the compiler because he's not known. but i see where you're pointing at actually...that few "compilers" may not have compiled the record by themselves actually, and just get their name printed for some propaganda.....it's a foolish world, ain't it.

now that's nice happy holidays

check out son kite, tegma and gaudium

well, vinyl for sure is the coolest of them all but cd's are way more handy and more comfty to listen to (cannot really relax when listening to it coz you always have to switch the side). i record most of the stuff to md afterwards for portable listening. even there i like to have a disc in the hand, not just a harddisc).

What music are you listening to right now?

The Mars Volta - Take The Veil Cerpin Taxt: And Ghosted Pouts -
love it. the two of them made some of the best progressive trance tunes ever. http://www.discogs.com/release/331157 http://www.discogs.com/release/154870 i'm interested in any news from them too...

Matsurhythm (!) Sympathy In Chaos (!!) Forever Psychedelic (!!!) all on matsuri

i just dont like it. it sounds too much "going forward", too jumpy, happy for me....hard to explain. i can't help it, every track with this type of a bassline arouses that "let's have a party" feeling i dont like at all. even tracks like prometheus' number cruncher has too much of it for me.

yes, one blast of a record! i only have the GTN release though...is there the original one on ebay?
-
i do get every sort of psytrance if i do sense some thought behind it (though that is very subjective). it needs to touch me in my innermost. otherwise it's just dance music. the psychedelic trance i dig the most is stuff from around 1998 to 2002...the heavy, psychedelic progressive records with straight basslines like atmos' first album, or segment, zerotonine, first vibrasphere album, etc. artists that were reaching for the future back then, but still put strong goa vibes into their productions. at least, that's how i feel about it. there should be more real psy/prog hybrids! edit: bah this should be in the watcha dig thread actually

some fine stuff here. all the volumes in this serie should be great. anyone wanna sell the one mixed by tsuyoshi?
-
i saw them live last saturday....me and my two droogs watched it from a safe distance...when one of them asked me what i thought of it, i said "it's entertaining". and that it is, not more, but probably less. i tolerate quiet every opinion and taste, but watching this saddened me somehow. this kind of music has everything goa never wanted to have; these artists live everything they once were supposed to have vanquished. after analog pussy, tsuyoshi suzuki played a set full of guitars and rock-song-remixes, and in between he brandished about with his hands in this ubercool wannabe-satanic manner. this was the point i ran away to the chillout....where one could enjoy downtempo but nevertheless utterly psychedelic music for the whole rest of the night! rant over, back to nice and open-for-everything-mode The Mars Volta is the bestest rockband evarghhh

Do you especially support acts from your country?
Anakoluth replied to Tatsu's topic in General Psytrance
i dont buy swiss records just to support them... imo there is only very little good music coming from switzerland nowadays... one of my most favourite psytrance cd's ever is from switzerland though....Subconsciousmind - Gfühlsweid.......fucking brilliant! -

Soul Asylum - Grave Dancers Union -
so this has turned into an analogue vs. digital debate. and digital's always gonna loose

i just thought about this stuff a bit, and got to the conclusion that i rather love all this old stuff. when i'm extremely bored, i sometimes play super mario bros on the old nintendo entertainment system, this grey box with cartridges almost as big as a vhs tape i also love to play dad's old 26 centimetres tapes on the revox. old record carriers were just a lot more stylish than nowadays cd's or, even worse, lame mp3 sticks so tiny that you can wear them as jewellery. pfffff!

yes man, kickass!

i still have a few mixtapes, and i still listen to them! they are from 1995 - 1998 and they really mean something to me! i also have a cool double-deck cassette recorder with which i used to duplicate the tapes for my friends in order to infect them too until 2002 i also used tapes to record radio airings, but then i bought an md. i would still buy decent mixtapes today...but only goa stuff! i was inspired by ott who told in an interview that he sometimes records drumhits to tape, then plays the tape and digitally records it. i used this too once when i made some real dirty hiphop beats for a friend to rap along. nemo, i'll fucking buy your tapes

the mars volta - amputechture after that, most probably the mars volta - frances the mute -
imo you should also get the other albums by Eat Static at least, try to get your hands on their debut, "Abduction", fucking brilliant. another good advice would be to not listen to recommendations from forum users in general
