  1. Mo-Shic - The Kid, The Piano, The War Beautiful
  2. I love most of this comp My favourites are the opener, UFO over trenchtown by eat static. One of their best tunes in my opinion and that is saying A LOT. I also like Voodoo Dub, a brilliant track and I like the wooohaooo vocals too. I don't like the last two tracks though. Real lets downs after what preceeds them.
  3. They could have bloody awesome, but they weren't but I don't think they are the worst peices of shit that I would never recommend to anyone. I know a lot of people who would really enjoy later infected stuff. Even if you don't like the new style, they still show moments of pure class. Doop by Doop, now there was an album worth burning so that noone can here it again.

A Whole New Way of Looking at the Day 3:32 7. Indu 5:22 8. California Sunshine 6:11 9. Lux Boutique 2:29 10. Last Summer Dub 4:42 11. That Much Closer... 4:59 12. Opaque (bonus track) 6:52 This album is a wonderful summer dub album, there are not many albums that really remind me of summer but this is definately one of them. I love playing this on a hot summers day. It reminds me of beer, bikinis, sunshine and holidays The 1st track, Ismatik , has a great atmosphere about it. Lovely colourful sounds are used over a sweet beat. Barely distinguishable vocal sample give the feeling of the next table over in the beer garden. The 2nd track, Shared Light , is a short one but the sounds are absolutely....amazing. Such melody, skillfully arranged around a thin bassline, chilled summer beats and bird sounds. Track 3, Nightwalker, has what sounds to be a movie sample but I'll be damned if I know what movie. Another nice summer melody surrounding a man not giving in to peer presure to take drugs. Some harder synths make me feel like a motorcycle movie for some reason. The next one, Circles , starts with some of the nicest open beat sounds which continue under the 4/4 for the rest of the track. Long slow synths lead into a soft flute (?) melody briefly. It goes then builds up again to the flute melody but while it's stiff soft seems to have more impact now. Next up is Magenta, It starts quite tech-y with very unnatural computer like sounds which continue throughout. A lot of strange sounds are used in this track and it has a very random feel. Track 6, A Whole New Way of Looking at the Day, however feels much more natural and the flute in this track really float nicely around the guitar cords, beats and half muttered conversation samples. A really nice feel good summer track, just too short. After that we get Indu with some nice simple basslines and beats. It's a little minimal and at times it doesn't really seem to be going anywhere even though it is quite varied throughout. No real atmosphere in the 1st half I'm afraid but it does get a little better towards the end. However it's the weakest on the album for me. Now comes California Sunshine, which is a belter. It starts off with acoustic guitar and vocals by Ranagit Sengupta. The melody played on the strings compliments the electronic melody running parallel very well. Another track that has that pure summer feel. Imagine walking down a tree lined boulevard on a hot summers day with the ocean to one side and a sea breeze through your hair. Nice! The 9th track Lux Boutique, is another short track but the short tracks on this album never feel like filler but more transitional. This one is a really nice blend of weird tech-y sounds and a nice soft melody of chimes which somehow manages to create quite a dark atmosphere, like a summer evening. Track 10, Last Summer Dub, does exactly as the name suggests it will. It's very dubby and it feels very summery. A simple, only slightly varying melody flitters about like a firefly's life. It feels upbeat and always doing the same thing but when it changes it's gotten slower and dying but then is reborn again briefly before the end. The last regular track is That Much Closer... which feels like a closing track to the summer. Think the end of summer, late september when it's not so hot but still comfortable enough to sit out on the grass with a few tinnies and watch the world go by. It's soft, it's dreamy, it's quite melodic and it's just nice. I bought this in Japan and like many albums I have been treated to a bonus track Opaque. I'm not sure what other versions have this but I think it's just the Japanese version. It's the longest track on the album and it's a damn good one. It is in the same feel as the rest of the album but a little futher on, like post summer or something. It is warm but less so than the others... to me it feels like the transition to autumn. The time when you might start wearing a jumper again but no jacket. It has wicked synths and it builds and drops flawlessly. "Take a Stress Pill" it says and to be honest that just sums up the whole album. Relaxing, this album makes you forget about your troubles and your worries and makes you think about summers past when your best memories come from. I love it, I've listened to it a lot over the past 2 years and it always makes me feel good and brings a smile to my face
  5. The abomanomanomanal Snowman?
  6. "He was holding back, he wasn't being cooperative, he wasn't giving me the information I needed and finally I felt like he was playing games with me"
  7. Albums which I shall never listen to again Bamboo Forest - Revival, not just dissapointing, genuine CRAP! nope that's it. Everything else, even if I didn't like it has some musical merit and there would be someone who I'd reccomend it to. "Oh really? You like crappy fullon guitar thrashing shit with toss basslines? You should check out Skazi!" But revival, no way!
  8. Enigma is not underrated in general just never seems to be mentioned by fans of psy chill. Maybe people thinks he's too commercial but it doesn't bother me when his music is so good. The 3rd album "Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi" is one of my all time favourite albums.
  9. Now there's some serious collectors. 8 grand!! Now I'd love to find that in some back street record store for a few hundred yen! Eyes Peeled!!!
  10. Hey, it's not for everyone. I know loads of people who really like it (psy and non psy fans) and some psy chill nuts who just don't think shpongle's any good. Personally I like shpongle but I'm not too crazy about them. When I first listened it was like BOOM OH MY GOD!! But that feeling faded with time and now I just find it okay.
  11. Mo-Shic - Salamat (Downbeat)
  12. Hip Hop is the most popular thing over here too. The Japanese stuff I actually quite like, it's all life affirming lyrics and is quite nice. The american "kill ya bitch" style gets tiresome. In japan though the record stores are huge. In Shibuya there is a 7 floor Tower records, next to a 6 floor HMV and even the local stores are huge. Of course in these stores there is loads of rock, pop and hip hop but the electronic sections are pretty huge too and they always have a load of psy stuff. Japan is quite expensive though, usually about 2500 yen (25 dollars/15pounds) for 1 CD. I loved the artwork by the way. I'm one of those who is swayed by nice covers and cool track names
  13. No Shelves with Psy Trance? That's very sad. Here in Japan the shelves are full of it. I love shopping in real shops, it somehow feels more satisfying when you find something great.
  14. Love that Album, so dreamy and trippy. First listened to it while I had a fever and it really sunk under my skin. I have heard a lot of peole mention it on this forum as well though. I think Enigma and Deep Forest deserve more attention. For me they are very psychedelic in parts. Banco de Gaia's last train to lhasa is also REALLY good. There is a double CD called Salamat by Mo-Shic which has a very nice downbeat CD. I'd also recommend stuff by Super Cozi (One half of Zen Lemonade) especially Cozi.
  15. Planet BEN - Trippy Future Garden
  16. The Melovskys - Psychedelic Cowboy
  17. I like this one. It's looks just like a lot of girls I've seen at psy trances nights in Tokyo.
  18. Digital Mystery Tour - Nadeshiko's Dream
  19. OTT - Billy The Kid Strikes Back I can never get over just how good this track is

    V/A - Singularity 2-001

Technossomy - The Joker, fantastic opening track by an awesome artist. Slinky Wizard - Supernatural, brilliant as are all Slinky Wizard tracks. Green Nuns Of The Revolution - Green Nunions (New Mix), not the best from the green nuns but still very good. Slide - Saturnalia, sounds a lot like unobtanium? Kuro - KKT, my god... one quality track by a quality producer Kuro Planet BEN And James - Repeater, pretty good stuff in the Silver Planet BEN vein. Manmademan - Desire (Bumbling Loons Rmx), quality breakdown. Atmos - Klein Aber Doctor (Unreleased Slinky Nun Rmx), one of the better mixes of this over remixed track. Quality album, highly recommended people!!
