I don't know if I like 'forest' 'cos I don't know what it bloody is!! I have the Fairytale CD and it's pretty good, but it doesn't sound especially different to 'non-forest' CD's I have. That's why I need someone to point out the so-called 'forest sounds', the way I'm thinking right now I feel it's just a name snatched out of thin air by clever marketting people.

I can live with that. You know what's even crazier? People today are still talking about Bob Dylan's early folk songs that he did in the 60's and Led Zeppelin's material from the 70's!!! What a fucked-up world it is.

Guess that makes me a fool then. Exactly. To me forest sounds are owls, bears, the trickling of streams, wind through the trees, that sort of thing. 'Weird organic noises' can mean bloody anything.

My opinion in a nutshell - The guy's released the best three psy albums ever produced, and while his current output ain't quite what it was, none have yet come close to matching the quality he's created. He puts so many ideas and melodies into each track that most artists would create an entire album out of them. He's a musical genius, the Beethoven of psy trance.

I didn't really find your post offensive, silly, yes, and certainly out-of-character. Whenever one criticises the musical output of an entire country they have to expect a backlash. Good music is good music as far as I'm concerned, regardless of origin. Anyway, enough about that. Regarding the much-discussed 'forest sound' - I still don't know what it is. Perhaps when your Fairytale album arrives you can point out what sounds on it are foresty as I'm quite interested to find out.

Sounds nothing like a fairytale to me, indeed I find the cover and title of the album very misleading as the vibe the music creates is not very organic or in touch with forests or nature.

I definately agree. Most modern psy sounds so simple compared to the complex, multi-layered psy of old that you'd be forgiven for thinking simpletons were writing and producing it. Okay, slight exageration but you get my point.

What a load of nonsense. You don't like British trance because it's 'noisy' and 'lacks heart' and you like Scandinavaian trance because it's in touch with it's 'forest noises'. You're right. It's an interesting piece, the Witchcraft album, as it sometimes sounds dark, sometimes sounds like goa, and sometimes sounds quite minimalist.
