  1. 10 years ago I felt exactly like you do, radi, I thought psy trance was the finest musicical genre in the world. But today, I don't know, the music has changed (and continues to change), I've changed (and continue to change) and I think psytrance and myself are heading in different directions and feel it has very little to offer me. It holds too few surprises and seldom satisfies me on an emotional or spiritual level in the same way other styles do. If I do turn my back on psytrance, I'll still keep my favourite psy albums and play them from time to time, but I won't buy anything new or check the latest releases. Who knows, maybe a few years down the line I'll get back into it again. But anyway, it's given me a decade of joy, and that's pretty good, and I'm thankful for it, but as they say, nothing lasts forever.
  2. Great list. I agree with much of it.
  3. What would I do? Seriously? Maybe turn my back on psy-trance. I mean, I'm almost there already so such a momentus disappointment could quite easily be the final nail in the coffin. I'd accept it too, hell, there's enough good music in other genres to last a hundred lifetimes. Luckily though, it won't disappoint. Look at how far Posford has come in terms of engineering and producing. Imagine the skill, craft and know-how he gained during the Shpongle trilogy applied to a new Hallucinogen album. It will be a landmark in sonic manipulation, I'm convinced of it.
  4. Shulman - First Came The Stars (Bluetech Remix)
  5. I have a soft spot for Green House Effect and believe it's gotten better over time. It's no Witchcraft, I know, but I really like it. I don't consider it that commercial either.
  6. Great post, radi. It will indeed be like a birthday, Christmas and Easter rolled into one joyous day. The day the album is released the sun will feel warmer, the birds will sound lovelier, enemies faces will look kinder, charity organisations will see a rise in donations, lions will smile at gazelles, and the world, if only for a day, will seem a safe place. I can't wait.
  7. Agreed. Massive Attack are masters of what they do. True perfectionists.
  8. Your petty comments cannot hope to dampen my acute enthusiasm or even begin to tarnish this glittering and momentus occasion. I mean, it's the third hallucinogen album, the third coming. This could be what relights the touch paper, what pushes the scene in a new direction, what inspires other artists to up their game, what gets me back into psy with a passion. Imagine the possibilities. As for you, OD, I thought you'd know better, and am eager to know which of Godford's recent tracks you consider "pants".
  9. I really want Hallucinogen's third album, and according to Godford, it's coming!!!!! Who needs the second coming of the messiah now? No-one. Let us burn in music.
  10. Nice one, Antic. Good read.
  11. I quite like it, radi. Sounds happy and uplifting, and well, like classic old-school Goa. Who is it?
  12. A mystery track uploaded by radi - http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?acti...88131F254AFAA74
  13. Oh. I see. You should have called the thread Best non-psy-trance trance tracks ever.
  14. Best non-psy tracks? Hmm. There are too many to mention.
  15. I'd heard there was a Soothsayer remix but had never heard it before. Thanks to you, my life is so much more complete now.
  16. Listening to it now. I think it's a remix of Soothsayer but can't be sure. Whatever it is it's pretty cool.
  17. Ohh, I'm intrigued, but yeah, please send me a link to the download. Maybe it's the Soothsayer remix?
  18. It's called Soothsayer. Pretty cool track. Love the hihats in it, always remind me of going to war.
  19. Hallucinogen's Twisted is the best Goa in 2006 so far, as it was for ten consecutive years leading up to 2006. I like to think something might finally take it's place soon, but well... it's just a pipe dream isn't it.
  20. Sad but not surprising news.
  21. I agree. But there are tracks (in all genres) which contain melodies that could never be classed as melodic tracks. Don't you think?
  22. Hehe. I didn't know how else to phrase it. How should it be phrased? Are you saying all melodies are indeed melodic?
  23. A Hallucinogen track I've neither heard nor heard of? NO! IT SIMPLY CANNOT BE!!!! Where did you get this track, radi, are you sure that's it's proper name? I need more info!!
  24. Sentimental simply means touched by or coloured by emotion rather than reason or realism, and is usually used in a context when past memories bring up emotions. Not all melodies should be classed as 'melodic'. Melodic melodies tend to be strong and repetitive, non-melodic melodies are generally subtle and non-repetitive. The vast majority of tracks include melodies, but not all those tracks are melodic.
