Look, what I'm trying to say is that music isn't necessary for mankind's survival. If everyone did their share of what's really necessary we would have more than enough time to make music without having to worry about finishing the tracks as soon as possible.

It's not about money sir. I'm saying that artists shouldn't have to work (making music on a "schedule") for money, because that leads to stress, and stress leads to mediocre results. I'm saying that everyone, not just artists should have to work way less than 8 hours per day to support themselves, and then they can do anything they want, eg. make music. And yes, it's the same cangrejo. And it does make sense, if you think about it for a while. Edit: Why do you think most (not all) CDs have like one or two good tracks and the rest are just standard music that anyone can do?

I see now, you're working doing something you love and you're getting paid for it. You know some people have to work for 12 hours a day just to get food on the table. I never even mentioned gigs, but since you brought it up... You make money plus get the appreciation from your fans. If you really think the gigs are such a pain maybe you should consider another line of work. I stand by my words that music is meant for listening and expressing feelings and I really don't think you should get paid for it. So to answer your question - No, I don't pay for music. I study full time (20 hours scheduled time and at least 10 (30 recommended) hours more at home or with friends) and I still have time to produce some music, play computer games, watch tv. Sure I don't produce at your level, but that doesn't matter. I really don't think that you spend 40 hours per week producing music/doing gigs. And if you don't do that, you could probably work part time as a programmer and earn those extra bucks you need so you don't have to eat noodles for a week. Even if you're spending 40 hours per week, you really love making music, don't you? Then I don't see the problem, 40 hours of "work" and then 20 hours of making music on your free time. That makes 60 hours per week of working with music. Or you could take those extra 20 hours and get a part time job. Edit: I'm sorry for some of the magic, I know you don't wanna work 60 hours per week, but I'm exaggerating a little to make a point.

I think it's sad that people just agree with how society is built up. It's not right, people are starving because we focus on the wrong things. "eat the bread of those who work" You know who's eating your bread? The people with million dollar cars? Tax payer's money surely end up in the right pockets... Anyway, the third world countries are getting better. At least they're making progress, just look at China, which is a country in between. They're getting to be more and more of a "normal" country. I hope the same thing will happen in all the really poor countries. It will probably take lots of time, but you can always hope. Anyway, I'm tired of this discussion, and I bet you are too

I'm glad you like it, I like it too. Although, we would probably need to develop alot better AI before robots can replace us humans in all lines of work. And then they would replace us as a whole. Mankind is doomed Perhaps it's deviating, but it's a better idea, so why shouldn't it?

I'm too tired to break up all posts into quotes, but you all made your points and I agree with some, I disagree with some, and some I just don't understand. It doesn't matter anyway. Look at some tribe that lives in the jungle and you'll see what I think is a great society. Only the people out there hunting/collecting food would be replaced by robots. Then everyone could spend their free time listening to music, making it, making clothes, painting, researching things etc. Of course we need some doctors etc. but there will always be people who are interested in learning the ways. And if some people feel that they aren't interested in working, it's their call. I hope you understand the point and start a revolution tomorrow.

Maybe he should get a job and do something for society. Then he could use his spare time to do music if he really wants to. He wouldn't feel the pressure to release something to make money off it and therefore he could take his time to really make something special. I'm sure if you think for 10 seconds you can name at least one artist that has released a record prematurely simply because of the pressure from the record company. And guess what's pressuring the record company. Money. If everyone worked to keep society running by producing food, health care, schools etc. you wouldn't have to work as much as you have to in today's consumer society. Then there would be more time to do anything you want, for example music, researching new technology, or simply chilling out . I know this is a very idealistic image of the society, and it probably won't come true in our lifetime, if ever. However, it's never too late to start working on it. You know the people who are "running the internet" are working for free. Only our ISPs steal our money for using the service. There are people who are interested in everything, otherwise these things wouldn't exist. So a society where everyone does what they want would definitely work. Anyway, I guess I'm off to catch some sleep, at least try. Thanks for giving me feedback on my thoughts. It's very inspiring to discuss matters like this one.

Exactly It's just greed talking when he says it isn't worth the effort. Well then mr. Penta, sir, maybe it isn't worth the effort listening to your tracks either? How do you like that? I'll be glad to support artists I love to listen to, but since most start producing shit after they get the recognition they actually deserve in the first place I'm very anxious to do so. I mean, just look at Infected Mushroom. They're a grade A example of how money and fame affects good artistry. It's the same with most artists that get famous, even in other genres of music. I believe it's something like "Alright, we got our recognition and enough money to make a mistake or two, let's try something different." and it usually turns out to be shit. It's sad, but it's the truth.

Mastering does not equal good music. Artwork does not equal good music. The artist doesn't deserve anything simply because he spent time and effort into making a track. The music should be it's own reward. If it isn't then I'm not sure I would call "the artist" an artist at all. As for the few thousand dollars that is supposedly required to make music. That doesn't have anything to do with music at all. Music isn't the instrument. Music is what you make with it. A computer will do fine, if you have the right feeling you can produce 100 times better tracks on a work station than someone that hasn't got the right feeling can on a studio complete with expensive synths, mixer tables and high quality headphones. Of course I'm just stating my opinion. It's a very strong opinion, and I hope to make an impact on some not yet plagued teenager's mind that music is made for listening. I could go on and on with what I think of today's over-stressed society with at least 5 times as many work hours as would be necessary to keep society going. There is so much unnecessary work going on. I mean what's up with the fashion industry? I have the exact same opinion about that as I have about the music industry. It's something that people should do on their free time. If you think about it for a while, you can probably think of many industries that from the beginning were just something artistic, and now it's all gone into the hands of capitalism. "Hey, people can work 8 hours a day, let's make em do it" and we do it. We don't even think twice about it, because we have no choice. We have to work for 8 hours a day to even make a living. If there were no unnecessary industries, we would probably have to work for 2 hours per day or even less. Get some food on the tables and then everyone can do whatever the hell they want to. Music is made for listening, it's a pleasure to do music, not a line of work. Fuck off anyone who says that it should be worth more than $0. I'm saying this offensive because as long as there is any money to be made doing music lots of shit producers won't make music. It's not a fucking career, it's not a job. It's a way of expressing yourself. I love internet and the freedom of information that it's brought with it. I don't know why anyone would take money from people for listening to their music. Sure, if you wanna pay great artists for putting lots of work, blah blah blah. "People won't make music if there's nothing to be made from it" That's bullshit, there was music long before there were any money. Music that existed for the sole purpose of enjoying it. I know exactly what you're saying... It already seems to be pretty "streamlined", but there are still many good producers out there. You just have to keep your eyes open and listen to anything you can get your hands on.

Why? I'm from Gothenburg, Sweden. Although I have psytrance-listening friends in Stockholm and if I would go to a party I'd probably go with them anyway. Some of you may know Daze from the forums. Anyway I don't really know where to look for parties. Last time there was a party I know of it was Xenomorph and Kindzadza (I think) in Stockholm. They had lots of problems with some fire inspectors or something, so I didn't wanna buy a train ticket etc. before I knew they were really going to play, and then it was too late. Anyway, do you know any nice web sites for Swedish parties that I could check out? Would be much appreciated
