  1. My my, I must say this thread has grown in size since I last visited. I just wanted to state my view and this is what happens. All this arguing about reviews. Oh well, arguing isn't only bad. It usually leads to something. Anyway, I don't mean that all reviews suck, even though that is what I may have said. I really do enjoy reading the reviews, but they are lacking purpose, except for the fact that they tell people about, to them, yet undiscovered music. Although this is nice, I really can't say that the reviews have helped me in any other way. So if you spend hours perfecting a review maybe you should give it a second thought. Unless you really enjoy writing it, because then maybe you should even spend more time on it. Pleasure comes first. The same goes for critics in any form of media. Please, tell us about the subject, but keep your opinions to yourself and let us form our own. Thanks. Now mark well that I can only speak for myself, so the "us" should maybe be "me" instead. Any opinion expressed in this reply is mine and may very well be ignored if you wish. I feel I must add that I like the main part of the reviews where you explain the tracks in detail, however, the part where you express your opinion or give a score is really quite pointless. To the person who said I should write a review myself: I'm sorry, but I don't have experience in the field. I'm more experienced in reading reviews and that's what I do, not the other way around.
  2. KILLLAAAAARGHHHHH!!!!1111124!1 EDIT:I AM IN LABOUR!!
  3. Ok here's what I think about the reviews. First of all, everyone has their own taste of music and that can't be helped so I don't really care about it. Second of all. I've never seen a review get less than 8/10. I guess this is partly because I haven't read all of the reviews, but most of all since everyone is reviewing their favourite artists/labels. That being said: Discuss (so what if it's been brought up before, just discuss anyway)
  4. Bullet Proof - Bolivia (Imagi:Nations Part 1: Night CD) It's a must-get. Starts off very calm with a guitar (or something similar), then goes off towards aggressiveness, never losing the great feeling you got in the intro. Uni - Regibell (Uni - Venus CD) Perfect track. When the second part of the violin comes in you really can't stop listening. It's like you're lifted up to a new level of pleasure.
  5. 10x alot dude, i rly can imagin, i use fl, neva tryd cubase n reason . i need 2 kno if u can use them on a slo pc or if its da same . dude
  6. Hey, there is a question for anyone who cares enough to read. Is it here? Yes, just read along. Five or so, minutes ago. I decided to find out, what trackers were all about. Many decisions to make on what tracker to take. The real question is, will my new laptop be able to handle this? I haven't bought it yet, and perhaps i never will. Should I maybe take a chance? - Get the laptop and make jolly psytrance(). I've used Fruity Loops for quite some time, it works well but needs much cpu time (). If I would use Reason or Cubase, would it up the pace? Would I be able, to work steady and stable, on my new laptop, or would the processor just stop? Thanks in advance, keep lis'ning to psytrance. Edit: Added some nice bold tags, poetry isn't only for fags! My original question is still staying. Is there a difference in performance for the different trackers with the same amount of samples playing?
  7. I love you more Edit: I voted for Secret Surroundings. But I like rusakula a whole lot too. Sex me up baby
  8. I just have to say Sattel Battle. You may know his song Dotman from the Schizm compilation. He's made some other songs on acid too and is making a full album. I really can't wait ;-O
  9. Yeah, definitely the most promising tracker/whatever they wanna call it I've seen so far. I'll see where the development goes.
  10. Yeah, they're compiled for windows, but you can use most of them anyway using DSSI. Because of Microsofts ideology. The reasons I'm sticking with windows are 1) That I can't afford a Mac. 2) I have yet to find a good audio sequencer for GNU/Linux. Now this isn't why I made this topic, so please refrain from posting anything that isn't related to my original question. If you want to discuss more about operating systems please make a new thread in the off-topic section of the forum. It doesn't belong here.
  11. I'm gonna get a mac later on, but right now I'm seriously getting tired of windows and I'd like to know about the possibilities for linux. Something with garden huh? Does anyone know about this? Edit: Did you mean this? http://www.rosegardenmusic.com/ I'll have a look at it
  12. Well, the title says it all. I need to know if there are any good full-featured sequencers for linux. Or if anyone's tried emulating windows and using FL/Cubase/Whatever I'd be happy to hear about your experience.
  13. I just say this: Music is made for listening and not for making money. Downloading is good, because it spreads the emotions that the music awakens and that's the whole point of music. "But if people couldn't make a living... bla bla bla... there would be less music out there" Yeah, and that would be good, because then the only music out there would be the ones who really cared about music and not about money, so it would all in all be better music.
  14. I don't really have to spend all the money on it, I just wanted to let you know my limits. Does anyone have some more tips or know a place where I can read more about synths in general? I mean, I don't even know what to look for. Maybe I should buy a little cheaper synth first so I get some feeling as to how the quality may feel. Or just go try some out, but I don't really know how to do that either.
  15. Basically my granddad is giving me lots of money because I just graduated and I'm going to university this fall. So I gave it alot of thought and figured that a synth would be the best way to spend that money. I think I will get around €500 because that's what my brother and sister got when they graduated. Maybe I shouldn't spend all of it on a synth and maybe I should. Your job will be to tell me about my options, because I have no idea what-so-ever about synths. I know a little about guitars etc. and I've seen synths lying around when I ventured the guitar stores, but I've never given it much consideration since I've always seen myself a s a guitar person. then I started listening to (and later also producing) psytrance and now it's time for a synth. (plus my mom really likes me to learn how to play the piano, so she'll be happy too) Anyway, any tips on good synths around the price range of €500 would be nice. Don't be shy Any tips on good sites where I can read more about synths would also be nice. So far I know NOTHING, so all tips are nice. Also, feel free to ask me if there's anything else you want to know about the kind of synth I want.
  16. Really nice feedback right there I know it turned out really "muffled" and I don't really know why. I like it though, but I've been brainwashed listening to it over and over again while making it About the kick... I think I've been using a little too much of my subwoofer when I made this song, it sounds great for me I'll try listening to it with headphones or turning down the bass a little I don't really know what LFO means, but I've seen it a hundred times everywhere so I can probably find out just checking a tutorial somewhere. Now the best part of this feedback is being compared to Misted Muppet One of my all-time favourite groups. I'm glad you like what I have produced so far and I'll definitely keep on working with this
  17. Hmm, try here: There may be an error in the dns service Or maybe the parenthesis messes up the link, in that case try copy and pasting this: http://81.225.142.4/grul_-_naked_crab(beta).mp3 Edit: If none of the above works, try this one: rapidshare (scroll down and click FREE, then scroll down again and click the download link) Edit: my roomie is also running a webserver, that's what messes things up with grul.mine.nu, oh well Just get it from rapidshare
  18. I'm in the process of making my very fist dark psytrance song (I don't really know if it fits in that category, but it sure is dark) and I'm interested in some feedback. I've made a little more than 3 minutes that I'm happy with so far, but it's hard to come up with new ideas on the same concept. Does anyone have some ideas what more I can add to this song? or maybe something I should remove I've listened to it so much so it's hard for me to see any errors since I've gotten used to them and think they all fit in the song. All constructive criticism is very welcome. Here's what I've done so far (the ending is just temporary ): Grul - Naked Crab (beta)
  19. Bah... I want it, now! If they wait any more I'll just download it instead of buying! HAH!
  20. It's your loss if you don't check this out! You don't like this bad trips music? This song reminds me alot about Talpa - People are Animals which is a great track. I don't need no LSD when I have this kind of music. I want this album right now damnit. Has anyone seen it for sale somewhere? It's supposedly released, but I can't seem to find it. At least I'm trying to make sense...
