  1. Hello, I heard your track few days ago, and I thought it was pretty good. Not amazing but promising given that it's your first track with Cubase. It has an old-school sound that i liked (that doesn't mean it was badly produced). Also, it wasn't what I expected at all : I always thought that IDM means very abstract techno music or crazy breackore music. But I guess I was wrong.

Also one of the best ambient albums for me. I just wish it was a little bit longer (80 min instead of 70).
  3. Lisa Gerrard has to be one of the most talented singer, but somehow there's something about her voice that's missing for me: I think it lacks "sensuality" if you see what I mean. In her earlier work at least. I like "Into the Labyrinth" & "Spiritchaser" much more than their older album, and I'm probably the only one. My favorite female vocalist is Azam Ali. She's been my favorite singer but also favorite artist for many years now. There're many others I should recommend, but i see there're already many recommendations in this thread (wich i'll have to check by the way )
  4. You made me curious, i'll download your track and will let you know what I thought, probably next saturday as I don't have internet at home. Anyway, all this praise about Cubase convinced me to give it antoher try. That and the fact that I'm getting a new much more powerfull computer this week. :posford:
  5. I think we need a new subgenre. One to rule them all !!! It would be melodic, psychedelic, deep, emotional.... And we would call it : Greatest Of All Trance! Or G.O.A. Trance.... that's strange, it reminds me of something.
  6. Collecting headphones is like a hobby for me, i've had so many; but most of them were very cheap. Nowadays i'm using a AKG K-701, and it's the best one I've tried.
  7. Few months ago, I tried to learn using Cubase SX as i was reading everywhere that reason's sound quality was inferior to other software such as cubase. But after weeks of learning and testing, I went back to Reason. The program was buggy, probably because it was a downloaded version, or maybe because my computer couldn't handle all the vst i was using simultaneously. Anyway, i didn't notice a big difference with the sound quality, but it's true that there are more possibilities with cubase. I think reason fits my needs as I'm not a professional. And Reason 4 just came out..... long live to reason!!! And death to betrayers like you
  8. I bought a xboard 25 three days ago. So far I'm very happy about my purchase but i can't recommend it as it's my first keyboard.
  9. Hey!!!! I'm not such a newbie I've worked with Reason for a year now. I'd like to use a program that would work with Reason 3.0, like Cubase, thanks to that thing they call "rewire 2.0" I think.
  10. It really sucks to hear this for someone who is trying to learn cubase right now. Maybe I should start studying ableton live before I get too much into cubase
  11. Thanks a lot for your help people. Right now I have the feeling that, the more I learn, the less I know.... because I realize that there's still so much to learn. Anyway, I think that I'll keep working with the onboard soundcard for some time, and start saving money in order to buy a new soundcard and an amplifier(or maybe a mixer) simultaneously. Meanwhile I'll try to learn more about "the world of hardware". If there are cheaper souncards wich include an amplifier, I'd be interested to learn about them (because the MOTU ULTRALITE is almost 600€ ) Unfortunately, I can't use monitors to produce music because I'm surrounded by grannies and I doubt they share my passion for psytrance. Therefore, active monitoring speakers won't solve my problem. Thanks again.
  12. Thanks for your help. You assumed well, I have a very basic pair of desktop speakers and yes, I'd like to start producing music SERIOUSLY. That's why I mostly use my headphones for producing. It's a BeyerDynamic DT 770 Pro and I'd like to keep them, as they costed me 150€. Which is a lot ! An 3.5mm to 6.35mm adaptator was included with the DT 770 Pro. I guess it's the only solution. You mean that the adapter has a negative effect on the sound quality ? That's what I fear. I don't want to pay that much and then realize that I made a mistake.
  13. I think filteria does not intend to please everyone's taste. But just want to explore new styles of music. Or maybe I didn't understand what you said... Anyway, i like your new stuff Filteria ! I'd like to write a track with you one day! And steal all your secrets...
  14. I am looking for a "pro" (yet cheap) soundcard, and was intersted in popular models such as EMU 1212M or M-AUDIO DELTA AUDIOPHILE 2496, since I read very positive reviews for those. But one thing suprised me : none of them have a mini-jack output. That's a problem since both my speaker and headphone have a minijack connector. Maybe it's not used anymore in the pro-world ? They all offer spdif or 1/4" outputs, but no 3.5mm jack. Should I buy new headphones together with a new soundcard ? Or should I use an adaptator ? And what is this spdif thing ? The spdif I/O on the AUDIOPHILE 2496 look like an ordinary minijack connector .... Please help !!!
  15. And I never said that you said this. Did I? I remember what he said: ...The only thing that i can say is that Gabriel will not dissapoint you with another full on come back like many great artists of the past are doing in our days. His album will be 100% psychedelic trance including also some more progressive tunes and ofcourse some ambient stuff,i wish i could share his new stuff with you but i guess you have to wait a little bit... By the way, the last part of my post was to be taken as a joke. But your answer sounds a bit as if you were angry at me. ....so calm down! Clear?
  16. Just because it will be released @ Exposure Productions doesn't mean it will be full on. And even if it's full on, it doesn't mean it will be bad. With defeatist like you, there's indeed no hope
  17. My top 5: 1. X-Dream - The best 1991-2001 - SOLSTICE - April 2. Filteria - Heliopolis - SUNTRIP - February 3. Ka-Sol - Fairytale - SUNTRIP - May 4. Various - Oxycanta - ULTIMAE - April 5. Electrypnose - Subliminimal Melancholies - AJANA - June There's an intruder in your list it seems. Who is Vibrasphere ?
  18. It's a very nice track with great melodies in the beginning. But what about the last 2 minutes ? No more melodies, no more variation, only a monotonous acid line and some stereotyped sounds. Anyway I really like it, despite the fact that it should have ended at 5:43.
  19. Your track is really excellent. I love it. But the only problem is that the climax comes after 50 seconds. That's much too soon !!!! Or maybe it wasn't meant to be a climax
  20. No don't worry, I heard recently a short sample from Xenomorph upcomming album and it sounded like anything but full-on. http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?sh...ndpost&p=510004
  21. Hello psynewsers, I'm happy to present you a track I've just done using Reson 3. I've been using Reason for almost a year but this is the first time I manage to finish a track (I usually start a new project before my previous one is finished). click to download This is a downtempo track, not psytrance but some of you might like it.
  22. You made this in one night ? That's imppressive... Anyway the track is really nice, i'd like to hear more like this.
  23. That's beautiful music Afgin. I love all of your track !!!! Good luck finding a label, you're going to need it People always says that music is a cycle, so be patient, one day goa trance will be popular again.(hopefully)
  24. I found some very usefull tips. Thank you Dr Bill. I was reading the "Trouble With Writer´s Block" part and I think that there's no miracle cure for this Loopitis, except having people showing interest in your music. When you start a new song, you're dreaming of how good it could be if only you'd put a lot of work into it. But you know that in the end nobody will hear it, so you simply give up : it's not rewarding to spend so much time on something that nobody care about. That leaves you with hundreads of loops and not a single comlete song.
  25. Absolum hasn't been very active lately, Inside the Sphere was released two years ago. I wonder what kind of trance he is producing nowadays (hopefully it won't be cheesy FULL-ON)
