  1. I couldn't really get my hands on a 1991 track that could qualify as Goa trance. But for 1992, no problem. A few gems IMO: - Eat Static - Almost Human - SFX - Allah Acbar - E-Rection - Smoke my Dang-A-Long - Juno Reactor - Jungle High
  2. Reminds me of Let it RIP. On the booklet was written: Suzuki was already more or less involved in that (or not).
  3. Well, I hadn't even checked the samples until now. I am deeply disturbed, I must admit.
  4. Which project exactly?
  5. Last time I checked (two years ago, ok...), it was not that bad. Maybe I will have a closer look at it. It will remind me of the time I wrote my pages on the Psytrance history.
  6. A powerful bassline is more hypnotic than psychedelic IMO. Previous messages clearly stated what psychedelic is supposed to mean. Personally I like to stick to the "perceiving sounds as colors" definition. Never happened to me with a Full-on track, which is not to say that it is impossible of course.
  7. What's wrong with dreaming? I don't see the musical point in releasing something under the Pleiadians label if it is to make standard Full-on. They should have let it RIP.
  8. F*ck neat production. What about raw musical innovation instead? I didn't either, but maybe something of the level of Photonic Part 1. Waiting 7 years for that, gosh...
  9. OMFG, what did they do to this masterpiece ???
  10. Funny, only bying masterpieces has always been my conception of Psytrance since day 1. But hey, when you begin with Hallucinogen, do you really have the choice ?
  11. Hey, I'm still listening to them from time to time 15 years later... And about that remix : is that supposed to sound Psytrancey ???
  12. Dido - Life for rent Oh, are non-psy tracks allowed in the thread ?
  13. Yep. Anyway : OTT - Hallucinogen In Dub
  14. A bit off topic : when this site used to be more than a forum, there was a "best of" section. That was the Nostalgia minute.
  15. My point exactly: I couldn't tell what the original track is, except for the borrowed musical samples, not much altered if I remember well.
  16. Well, I must have a pretty narrow definition of what a "remix" is in mind, because for me your track is a very nice piece of Electro House containing musical samples from Hallucinogen's LSD. I certainly wouldn't go so far as to call it a "remix". But as I said it is probably just me...
  17. You could say something along this line, yes.
  18. To answer a different but related question, i.e. what sounded Goa before Goa artists per se arrived: The KLF - What Time is love (Pure Trance Version) E-Rection - Smoke my Dang-A-Long Third Eye - Morphic Resonance Early Astral Projection tracks like Allah Acbar for a Psy touch (Indus Techno beforehand) And of course Eat Static (Almost Human), Juno Reactor (Jungle High), The Overlords (Sundown), Electrotete (Alcatraz) and the Infinity Project (Freedom from the Flesh). J.
  19. Hi all, Is anybody aware of a Psy band with the same kind of Psy / Metal mix, with this dirty, saturated guitar sound ? I know some Psy acts using guitar in their tracks, of course, but not with such a rough sound. A link for those with the "WTF is he talking about??" line popping up in their head : http://bcityrockers.uw.hu/index4.html Check "Sahida" in particular. Thanks, J.
  20. A great piece of news on Amazon.com for those who'd like to (almost) never again hear of IM :
  21. OK, thank you everyone for the good recommendations! I clearly needed to update my musical Psy culture! I haven't had time to listen to everything on Psyshop yet, but sofar I already ordered two albums, namely Artifakt - Artifakts II and Nystagmus - The Immaculate Perception. Both have this old IM touch that I appreciate so much (but which seems to infuriate certain individuals in the review comments ) Thanks again! J.
  22. Hello all, I have been away from the Psy scene (and subsequently the associated forums) for something like 2 years now, for various reasons. I have read a few threads here and on Isratrance on the current state of the scene. Things don't seem to have evolved a lot. Anyway, to the gist of my post: The last Psy records I bought are from 2004 (what a surprise...) : - Talpa : The Art of Being None. I read a message on Isratrance from Goran saying he had enough tracks for a new album which should soon take shape. Great news. - Filteria : Sky Input. I saw that a new album had been released. The reviews don't look so good though. I'll have to check that closer. - The Misted Muppet : From the Legend. - Infected Mushroom : IM the Supervisor. Their new album is due in September if I am not mistaken. Quite a short list actually (seems like i was already and slowly leaving the scene in 2004...), but I'd like to get back to business now. Anyhow, this list should give an idea of the music I appreciate to any good soul kind enough to give me advice on what I should purchase from 2005 and 2006, Talpa being my absolute favorite from the recent times (Pleidians - IFO and IM - Classical Mushroom as ultimate Psy reference BTW). Thanks in advance ! J.
  23. Nice one ukiro ! The general term used in Goa in the early 90's for the music played seems to have been "Trance Dance". Spindrift could maybe confirm that. The very expression "Goa Trance" was probably coined by some UK music reporters around 1994. In one of the first Goa compilation (Concept in Dance 1, 1994), you can find a hybrid expression : Goa Trance Dance. So, we're halfway between Trance Dance and Goa Trance I'd say. J.
