  1. yep. sounds like a vocoder to me best to read about it, yes good luck
  2. not too sure of the track, but maybe you are looking for a vocoder?
  3. *feels gulity, exercises moderate self-flagulation Nice 1 reger yeah, that's the newer version I was trying to find! Daaaaaaaaaaargghhhhh, you beat me to it!
  4. If you run Windows 95/98/NT then try "say it" it's old, but it's good clicky!
  5. Filteria! Thanks for the help bro! So nice to get good advice form the pro's! Will definately try it out! If I'm still clueless I'll PM you! Thanks again
  6. @ Taika-kim and Filteria! Thanks for making yourselves known! I will ask my question here... I am using Cubase SX 2. I have an EMU 0404 soundcard. I have connected the synth correctly Cubase is able to send midi to the Q-Rack The Q-Rack plays back the midi BUT..... I cannot select or even see Q-Rack patches/banks in my instrument setup or in the midi channel. So things like Program Change are just impossible! How can I solve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated! @Riton Noob Just kidding! The q-rack is a synth without the keyboard part. So you use a standard midi keyboard connected to it or via your computer. Hardware is cool becuase you take off the CPU load that normally comes with soft-synths. And this Waldorf machine can run 16 different voices- that's like loading 16 different VST instruments. Well kinda! What's also nice is that the synth has hardware specifically dedicated to producing sounds, and this results in better sound quality and FX. Basically, hardware produces a better result than software, and it's nice to have buttons and knobs in your hands- more of a "Live instrument" feel than a piece of sotware with a mouse attached to it.
  7. I have the same soundcard as you, buddy! So.... 1. Hook up everything correctly. Read mixer manual, as well as soundcard manual to make sure you have the right setup. 2. Read your Soundcard manual VERY carefully! You need to load a certain recording template in the Patchmix DSP Mixer. Without the correct setup in Patchmix no audio will come into Cooledit/Wavelab etc. I think the manual gives a a tutorial on recording into Wavelab. This should also prove very usefull. This is really tough bro. I feel your pain! But the best advice you already have in your hands! RTFM! good luck.
  8. personally I use Cubase. before I was on Reason. but a few hours on Cubase got me sold! works for me and these are my favourite plugins: Z3ta ReFX Beast Audiorealism Bassline Vanguard Xphrase but at the end of the day Hardware is teh best, chaps! You can use any sequencer you like to arrange and order your sounds. But the main thing is creating those sounds And nothing beats hardware for this.
  9. Hooray for Hoffman 2000's Posford + Hoffman = I need a little lie-down, but where the f*ck is my tent ???

  11. Yay! I just got the Waldorf Q-Rack on my studio desk! And it's delicious! If any of you own this ( or another Waldorf synth e.g Microwave XT, Micro Q etc. ) and use it with CUBASE, please reply to this thread. I have a little question I would like to PM you!
  12. Practice as much as you can. Record your mixes and listen to your performance. Practice some more.
  13. My advice: PAY FOR THE SOFTWARE THAT YOU USE. It makes all the difference! Cracked warez often crash or have less functionality. Remember that developers often sell "stripped down" versions of their software ( eg. Cubase SX vs. Cubase SE, Logic Pro vs. Logic Lite ) and these are often easily affordable. Also by buying the software you are entitled to support, knowledge bases and Forums for all the problems and questions that arise.
  14. seriously dude. skazi certainly has changed his style over the last few years. some would say that he has become more commercial. others would agree. If you think "Hit and Run" is Psytrance then I guess we understand where you are coming from. The people on this forum are into a wide variety of psy sounds. Progressive, Oldskool Goa, Darkpsy you name it. Unfortunately Skazi isn't such a big favourite around here. We also like to respect each other's different tastes and opinions. So I respect your opinion bro. But don't go telling people they are "full of shit" because they don't think your hero is as great as you think he is. In fact a lot of people around here believe that Skazi himself is a shame to Psytrance. Just putting things in perspective Welcome to Psynews. Hope you enjoy your stay. peace
  15. Yes I measure BPM's! On computer, not with bpm counters. And that's not all, I write down the key as well! I mixed "au naturel" for 4 years. And for the last three I have been doing the bpm prep work before my sets so that when I am spinning I can focus more of my energy on the mix itself, and also spend an extra 2 minutes or so choosing the PERFECT track to put on next. Matching beats is just admin. Mixing and song selection is the "art". I also check BPM's before hand to make sure I know what type of track I am dealing with. Some tunes sound really fast because of open hi-hats or slower because of strange percussions, bassline etc. Some tunes sound like 145bpm, when they're actually 150 etc. I like to see on paper which tracks are designed to go together. I also try to avoid pitching tracks up or down more than 1.4%. So BPM's are super important to me. But that's just how I approach things. There is not right or wrong way peeps JUST DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO AVOID THE
  16. personally I feel that Cinos shouldn't use Psynews.org as his soapbox. This is not a platform for him to share his obscure opinions and prejudices. This is not a place to throw out gross generalistations and provoke a heated response and then argue and argue until he "proves" he is right. This forum isn't about whether Cino's ideas and opinions are right or wrong. This forum is not about Cinos at all. This forum is about psy news, reviews and silly banter associated with the scene and it's members. Personally I feel he took things a little too far off the track. He should get his own Blog or something. He obviously has a lot to tell the world. Here ..... well I don't think it's the right place. that said. I'll still miss the silly-billy! good luck if you're reading this Cinorino

  19. Hoesit boet ! ( S.A thing, sorry ) I must say that I am not an expert on this as I have never incorporated guitar into my beatz. But I was and always have been a guitarist and spent some time in the studio recording an album with my old band. *has nostalgic moment So. I would suggest you mic-up your guitar amp, run the mic into a mixer with a mic input/pre-amp ( even my DJ mixer has this function ), and then take the signal from the mixer into your audio card. Obviously a studio mixer would deliver better sound quality. So if you already have a mixer all you would need is a mic and a boom-style mic-stand. Long hair and tattoos optional. Remember that the placement of the mic in relation to the amp speaker makes all the difference! check this link for advice on mic placement etc. : http://www.recordingwebsite.com/articles/guitar.php Another nice trick is to use 2 mics - 1 for the amp sound, and the other 1 for the guitar. By this I mean capturing the sound of pick ( plectrum ) hitting the strings. So you would have the guitar and picking on 2 seperate channels. A little picking in the mix really adds definition to your guitar sound, especially if you are going down the accoustic route. There is a guy in my office who does a lot of guitar recording for his downbeat/trip-hop stuff. I will ask him how he does it and post some more knowledge for ya. good luck.
