  1. The reason why I don't validating anything is because I do not see any reason to validate anything as I believe genre debates are nitpicking really. I see no reason in debating if a genre is valid or not. If a genre name is used by the majority in a scene then its real and valid IMO And regarding my timeline you read it wrong But maybe I should have made it more clear I meant the starting years where after the genres are running side by side. To cut things short here. To me personally the whole damn thing melted together around 1996-97 and became one big melting-pot where some called it Goa and some called it Psytrance. Basically the music was from the same Stew. An example is that all the music no matter the genre naming was played all over the world side by side - incl. in Goa. To me there real gap (where people for the 1st time got divided within the scene) began with Nitzhonot followed by Full-on taking the music in in a much more commercial "pop-music" direction and ending up far away from the original music.
  2. 1st - I don't see why you have to drag me into your debate/argument with nectarios and 2nd I never claimed I was partying to Goa trance before Gil played in Anjuna so please do not put words in my mouth thank you. And let's get one thing straight here. Just because Goa Gil played EBM and Industrial at beaches in Anjuna does not mean the music at that time was called Goa trance. If you really want a serious debate regarding the Histroy of Goa trance vs. Psychedelic trance etc. then open up a new topic and let's debate based on facts and not made up claims of who said what.
  3. It's actually funny that New Wave music once was looked at as "rebellious" music. At the time it was Disco or Punk and we (New Wave and New Romantics) arrived with new synthetic music and men and women using the same make-up (I do not recall how many times I was called a faggot on the street by normal looking men when all dressed up. But I was the one that laughed last as I scored quite a few girls dressed up like that ha ha), styled our hair differently, had different clothes and danced strange (the way we danced was a cult itself ha ha). and the music was new and very much underground in the beginning (as any music tend to be at first). And today New Wave and Synth-pop is as commercial as it gets with a huge following and revival these days.
  4. You have to be careful with not dictating how the whole world and worldwide scene named the music. Maybe it was like this in USA with it at that time extremely small scene (even compared today) but certainly not here in Denmark and surrounding countries. We actually called the music this (I was there and clearly remember the shifts). 1. Techno (1990) 2. Trance/Psychedelic trance (1992) 3. Goatrance (1995) 5.Psychedelic Trance (or psytrance) etc.... So actually Goa came after psytrance here. In Denmark it happened around early 1995 when there was a party on a boat in the Harbour of Copenhagen where the early UK Goatrance pioneers (MWNN, Dino etc.) came to play material from this first groundbreaking Goatrance release (released in 1994):
  5. We did not make music with a PC or Windows 95. We used an Atari Computer running Cubase 1.0. I personally used a Akai ASQ-10 MIDI Sequencer for my 1st Elysium Album and the debut Sheyba release on Flying Rhino. No Computer was used whatsoever.
  6. Go figure. everything is "psy" as long as the artists once made psytrance. Even prog. house is being promoted as psytrance and the artists still perform at psytrance festivals playing prog.house and some sort of techno/full-on'ish clone (I prefer real techno thank you). No wonder this scene is in a state of confusion these days I listened to the new Younger Brother and well it's OK but seriously I don't think it's anything special. IMO there are similar bands out there way better at what they do. But from an artists point of view I understand them. It's always very nice to explore new grounds and I will argue that I rather see them make a somehow mediocre Jam Band album than repeating themselves eternally.
  7. There are obviously good and bad music in any genre. But to me and this is my personal opinion so don't get upset (it's nothing personal) I find a lot of the neo-goa juvenile in both the over the top layers of sounds and melodies and especially production wise. Yes I know many are quite young artists but I can not help feeling that they could benefit from digging into their studios and find their own sound. Too many try too hard to sound like someone else instead of being themselves. IMO this is not evolution but stagnation(with a few exceptions of course) . My advice (given in a good spirit) is to take it easy and not be in such a hurry to define a "new" genre as there's really no new invention of the wheel here. On the contrary it copy what's already been here. IMO IMO IMO IMO IMO
  8. Just because music has been played in Goa does not make it "classic". I can't stop thinking this whole "Goa labeling" is a tiny bit weird. My music was labeled as Goa trance even though I have absolutely no relation to Goa. Never been there and never will go there. And personally I do not see my music as being goa-trance just because it was played there. I once said it could just as well be called Copenhagen trance as this is where I live It's all OK to call music "classic" as it's subject to personal taste and opinion. But to give a tune or artist the stamp of "Classic" Approval just because the music was played in Goa is very weird to me. Rant over - back on topic
  9. Weird way of debating! I don't see why anyone should apologize in a debate unless they have been attacking people on a personal level. Each to his own but to ask for a apology is to stretch things very far IMO.
  10. I'm working on a downbeat/electronica album with an amazing female vocalist. A bit in the direction of Massive Attack. And then I am working on Tech House.
  11. This whole debate is stupid (IMO of course) as it basically again comes down to taste and nothing else. I am also not a fan of dark or forestpsy. I respect people's taste but to me it seem you guys try way too hard to convince those who does not like it that it's amazing and fantastic music. Yes to you it is but no it's not to those who do not like it. Quite simple I agree that every genre has it's cliches. Heck the Goa genre has it's share of shanti "spiritual" pseudo titles which I admit I also used when I was "young" and "green" in this scene. Today I can only smile at a title like "Ganesh" or "Trancelestial Psychobabas" but at the time I did not really look at the titles the way I do today. It was the way it was and everybody used such titles - so did I without ever being into Ganesh, religion etc. But at the end of the day it was and is the music speaking - not the title even though the title does play some sort of role. Today I am way more aware of my titles thanks to maturity and knowing myself and my music much better and could never dream of using such titles again. I guess I stay more true to who I am today - a non religious, non hippie guy from Denmark who happen to have music making as his life-long passion.
  12. There are obviously many albums and I have listened to a lot over the years which I would say have taken me on an excelent journey. But the one that still pop up in my mind is http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=CG6ST8Uwv5c&feature=related http://www.discogs.c...asa/master/3891
  13. Could someone please enlighten me and tell me what this "debate" is all about?
  14. Thanks No worries. I am never afraid of a good debate ha ha But I missed this one
  15. I do not agree that you cannot make amazing music on a computer. It is not the equipment but the talent that matters
  16. Amazing how darkpsy always seem to sneak into any post no matter the topic
  17. Here you go It's from 2006 and is "progressive House". I tried to add some of the old New Wave sound to it. You''ll be the judge http-~~-//soundcloud.com/the-new-wave/holm-andersen-grey-original
  18. He he yeah!!! Shame on me I have a huge library of all the old tunes. But I wanted the mix to be harmonic mixed and the tunes I picked work well together harmonically Maybe I'll make another mix with "Fade To Grey". One of my all time favorites (I even made a remix of it he he). Also there is an issue with BPM as these old tunes are all over the BPM spectra going from 100 BPM to 155 BPM. So the tunes has to be carefully selected too regarding BPM. Not an easy task to mix these old tunes (They are also not always steady in the beat making it hard to beat-mix).
  19. I never said anything in that direction. I just said the masks are too high priced. And then I said it's all about the money which does not mean they have "a evil, corporate, capital-driven mindset" . One egg suddenly become 20 Chickens in this debate
  20. nitpicking I am sure you got my point that 70 pieces are not a UNIQUE mask.
  21. 1. Mass production is when you produce more than one UNIQUE piece. If i was a UNIQUE creation they could probably sell it for alot of money. But when 70 people can buy the same tiny mask I still think it's a high price. But of course each to his own 2. I of course converted from Pound Sterling to Euro as Euro of course is the currency to use in an international forum (Yesterday Pound Sterling to Euro was 485). So I don't get you comment regarding the Pound Sterling
  22. They can sell as many masks, bling bling and a lock of Simon's hair on an auction as they care. That was not my point. My point was the price is too high for such a small mass-produced item.
  23. This is not psytrance but a mix down the memory lane back to where it all started for me personally and for synthesizer music in general. These artist caused me to take an interest in synthesizers and shaped my taste in music in my teen years. Enjoy this nostalgic New Wave/Synth-pop journey. BPM: 132 Run time: 1:01:16 Ultravox - Mr X Japan - Quiet Life New Order - Sub-Culture Gary Numan - Cars Ultravox - New Europeans Visage - Pleasure Boys Depeche Mode - Photographic Human League - The Things That Dreams Are Made Of Simple Minds - New Gold Dream (81/82/83/84) Ultravox - White China (Special Mix) Depeche Mode - Boys Say Go! Talk Talk - Talk Talk (Extended Mix) Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams Depeche Mode - Nodisco http-~~-//soundcloud.com/the-new-wave/the-new-wave-mix
  24. Euro 485 for such a small mask (30cm wide x 24cm high x 4cm deep) which is even mass produced (70 copies)? phefffffffffff it's all about the money at Twisted Headquarter these days. I guess it you are a die hard fan you'll buy a lock of Simon's hair too
