  1. but infected are not at all one day wonders, they just released albums you don't like.
  2. name your one day wonders. i mean new artists whith good compilation releases, good or brilliant debut release and then average upcoming comp tracks and/or a really disappointing 2nd album. i can name the following: melicia: brilliant debut (running out of time), funky and deep basslines cool melodies. almost all tracks he released after then are just boring average iraeli stuff. i'm really curious what's up with the next album but i have no hope. tikal: it really hurts me to name them, but everything they released after their brilliant debut is nothing in comparing with the 1st album. the second album is not really bad, but it has lost so much soul. they put all their effort into sound and trying to be the best musicians in the psyscene (maybe they are), but where has emotion gone? the misted muppet: brilliant debut, all follow up comp. releases are just random noise psydrop aka hypersonic: after warming up with a fairly good first album (the miracle man), the 2nd was just great (fantasy seeds): brilliant melodies (yes lot's of cheese in it, but imo with a good taste) and powerful driving sound. no need to talk about hypersonic... what's your's?
  3. what do mean with awful? awful cause you just don't like it? that way i fully agree with you. I don't like his music and I don't like his singing. but the way he combined both music *and* vocals is not that bad. he managed to create an embedded sound and not just trance music with vocals on top (as most of all other artists do nowadays when tehy mix vocals into their music).
  4. i see this new hypersonic a little bit different: + production is pretty good + the way he is working with vocals is not that bad, at least they fit into the tracks + and yes he is trying to introduce something new but... - ...he fails with it. the music should be a mixture between psy and wave. the way he is using 80's wave elements is just boring. - the music itself sucks. way too cheesy, way too pop commercial. just my 2 cents
  5. yes I know nothing new, but they rock in a different way. there are so few arists out there keeping quality of their releases top notch and are evolving the same time. When "Temporary Insanity" came out beginning last year I was very much impressed about this pumping full-on trance with a very unique style. I hoped to get more of this and checked immediately all follow up releases and remixes on different compilations. But instead of providing the same formula they changed their sound and style. At first I asked myself where is the pumping nightrance gone (and was kind of disappointed) but then I discovered the new stuff is just mindblowing: XEROX AND ILLUMINATION - Paranoia on V/A Freedom Fighters SANDMAN AND PHISIX - Phaze off (Xerox and Illumination rmx) on V/A Sirius Blasting XEROX AND ILLUMINATION - The Vision on V/A Digital Oracle Especially with the track "Paranoia" they defined or let's say redefined a new (old) style which has been picked up now for example for the newest Spun comp. "Zero Gravity" (and yes this is imho the best comp. from Spun in 2 years) and also for the latest Etnica "Phase three." Am I wrong? I would wish that more artists would concentrate on quality and not quantity. That way we would't have that much crap releases and it would not take month to find a couple of good tracks. But that's another story... Now I'm very curious about next full length of Xerox and Illumination, does anybody know if there is something on the track? Fohat

    Cosmic tone - wake up

Uupps I couldn't disagree more on the review above. I mean if an artist is copying himself over and over again it is Cosmic Tone. Yes you are right about "Going Solo" it was boring all in all, cause all the tracks sound very similar. But at least I could enjoy some of them because of the progression and melodies. There could be found some kind of an unique Cosmic Tone Sound. And what do we have here with "Wake Up"? 9 tracks copying everything from Going Solo. Same melodies, same key all over and over, same build ups, same sounds, same effects. Ok maybe not the same progressive touch cause it has more cheesy melodies in it and the progression is less driving, but that's it. Yes I know taste and feeling about music is different. So I may not be right with my 2Cents :-) fohat
  7. Coming back to the original topic - Your Review - I have to agree with LLB, it seems that you popped together abstracts of some promotion texts of other releases. There is almost no valuable information in this review, just general statements you could use for any release you like. I'm not the best one reviewing something, but I learned that at least I have to mention single tracks and describe what's going on there. If a review is talking about a whole album than I would like to read something which describes the music clearly. No poems or not fitting metaphores needed. That's what label promotors are doing now for a long time (just read the descriptions of some releases at psyshop) and this is really annoying imho. Wanna examples (got them from Psyshop)? Which is the following album? "What an album, what a master blaster..brain prodder, foot stonker, mahatonker, nirvana nervous system sucker... wipe out! stoked, poked and triple toked... ripping the cells of disbelief... the chief of relief... psychotic, narcotic illegal fun capsules spanning the multiversel rehersal for optimum joyride. this is a g force in the underpants of love, cosmic vibes tribes indescribeable cacophony of musical aural deep heat of the red. better red than dead... well read, well said... early to bed makes a man lazy and crazy. This is the soundage of newage. Don't sleep bo peep. put it on and savour the flavour...the tip top tenth anniversary... thrusting everyone with ears into a super visionary, flapping, mind crapping state of u foria what to do... but gasp... and press rewind a thousand times day" Or the following? "For the delight of all those who appreciate succulent, spatial and seminal sounds to bend the mind, twist the ears and wash away all earthly fears, comes this crystalline collection of cosmic compositions specially formulated to elevate the mind, serenade the senses and raise the vibrations to a super-ascended state of 'spiritauralphoria'! The album includes loads of Raja riddles and Ramadiddles of his blurb and doodlings. A collector's piece without a doubt." Ok take it not as an offense, your review was just reminding me that for a long time now I wanted to start a thread about nonsense release descriptions from labels. I never managed it, so I put my two cents here :-) fohat
  8. Try releases from Com.pact or Nano Records. Good full-on stuff with cool melodies. But maybe you are just looking for morning trance? Btw. Skazi didn't define the full-on genre. It has been created by the usual suspects like Astrix, GMS, Alien Project, Space Cat or Talamasca. Wait maybe I'm wrong: Wasn't it Deedrah's Reload who got the wave rollin'? Although I agree on Skazi's stuff beeing boring and soulless, I have to admit that the latest Chemical Crew Compilation "Chemical Mafia" is quite good imho. Some very cool tracks on it and not that destroying than the usual releases from these artists just my two cents
  9. You mean "V/A-The Turning"? I was also excited about this one but was finally kind of disappointed. Only the first track (Azax Syndrom vs. Toxic - Rain) really kick ass. But about the topic itself I fully agree. Very good stuff from SA the last few month especially "Twisted System" are awesome. For the not so dark and twisted stuff I enjoyed lately very much the "V/A Urantia Rising" from Sanskara Records. Almost no fillers, good full-on groove, great basslines and cool but not cheesy melodies. Fohat
  10. About his first album I have to agree. His bass rolling tracks are outstanding. But what I could hear lately from him was more than disappointing. Just regular formulaic stuff without esprit. I would recommend Hydrophonic. Not that usual full-on stuff and with very groovy/funky basslines. Fohat
  11. Hi, from the last V/A "Kagdelicious" I discovered the track "Excalibur" from Nexus. It is a dark pumping full on track with weird sounds and still enjoyable melodies and really hard/dry kick drums. Yes i'm in love with it and I'm asking you guys whether you know more of this stuff. I'm not looking for the usual dark stuff it should be hard but still with some kind of cool melodies (industrial like) as in this one mentioned above. And especially the dry and driving kicks are what I want to get more of it. Any ideas? Thx fohat
  12. The Higher Human Form Fohat
  13. Very nice progression and good track selection within this mix. especially the intro track mixed together with Freq's "Awaken" sounds like a remix and is awesome. I managed once to mix the first half of Freq's "Awaken" together with the second part of Human Blue's "Atom" Also a very good combination of harmonies fitting perfect together. Anyway thanks for the nice inspiration throughout your mix. Fohat
  14. One release I could not find any review or discussion about it was "Hydrophonic - Aquabatics". I was searching for a long time for psytrance music like this. Very clean and polished bass rolling Psytrance with slight melodies very well dosed and *not* cheesy. Perfect for starting into the night and preparing the people for the insane stuff. Some tracks have also some kind of a morning approach, so within this release any DJ can find a couple of tracks to complete his collection. Check samples : http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/nar/nar1cd007.html Fohat
  15. if you go that way you should keep in mind that converting an mp3 to wav and back again will loose a lot of sound quality.... for a program cutting mp3 itself I don't know any at the moment but there are a couple available just search google. sorry for the thin information about that :-)
  16. I think this is something special. I was just surfing through Psyshop.com and checked the Comp. "Global Trance Network" from Phonokol Records. Klicked on the first track "Inside me" from HYPERSONIC AND DYNAMIC to hear the sound samples. Ooops I thought by myself there must be something wrong. Am I in the footbal stadium and people shouting cheap Fanclub melodies or what? I mean I couldn't believe what went though my speakers. To make a long story short this is probably the worst stuff I ever heard. Don't get me wrong, judging a track just from a sound snipplet is normally something I would never do, but this one is different. Give it a try and tell me what you think: http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/pho/pho1cd322.html BTW: About the rest of the compilation I cannot say anything about cause I didn't go further ;-) Cheers Fohat
  17. no it was imo the opposite. as As I was not prepared for real vocals in psytrance (never heard element before that live gig) it totally blew my mind. Couldn't have been better. So especially "Magic flow" (which is actually more wave than psy) was incredible. But i know it seems I'm almost the only one out there who is really enjoying vocals in psymusic. That's why I love the new Haldolium so much :-) Fohat
  18. Yes Yes Yes another one. Just wanted to mention this party with Sun Project, but you were faster. So I want to add "Element" as headliner of the Zoom 2001. This was even better. So I go for Element as the best Live Act I ever saw!! Fohat
  19. Hi Guys, normally I would not open a topic after hearing a release the first time. But with this one it is another story. Did you progressive lovers out there discovered already "The Higher Human Form - Neurohighways"? I just got it and after hearing it the first time I knew this will replace my actual Progressive Release Nr.1 of 2004 "Freq - Strange Attractors". This is really brilliant: Lots of slight melodies, very clean and very good progression in all tracks. Sometimes the beats are a little bit too fast and too hard imo, but this doesn't really matter. So you should check this one out, if you are looking for Progressive Trance like Freq, Haldolium, Native Radio, Morganixx, Element etc. Fohat
  20. Hi there, yes i know not the most original topic but i thought it is time to ask again. So in playing a Full On set I find it always so hard to find the right entry. I know it depends always on the crowd, the time and the DJ before, but I made the experience that there are always perfect tracks to start with, totally independent of the things said above. And I'm talking about a Full On set which starts in the middle of the night... So for some month I went along with Exaile's Radio Edit. It worked always very good to get the crowd into the groove. How about you guys out there, what is your perfect entry, maybe with tracks came out lately? Thx for your comments Fohat
  21. Exaile was brilliant with "Radio Edit" and "One of a Tribe". He then left the path of powerful/energetic bass rolling Psytrance and is doing now the same stuff than the others at the chemical crew. Headbanging stuff without soul :-( just my 2 cents fohat
  22. if dealing with software mixing you should go definately with traktor. just cueing some tracks and let the software do the rest will bring not the best results imo. just my 2 cents
  23. try the stuff from "element". they have their roots in the dark wave scene and you can hear that clearly out of almost all their tracks. if it comes to melancholic psytrance "element" is a definition of it (imo) fohat
  24. Disagree although I'm not from Scandinavia ;-) Why do you say that S-Range was never progressive? I think Anoebis meant progressive psytrance and S-Range fits in it. Ok not all of his stuff, but I can hear very clear progressive influences in his tracks, and some of them are pure progressive psytrance (depends on the own definition of prog. psytrance). For his newer realeases it seems that he is going the full-on path which is then another story. Human Blue full-on? What's your genre definition about full-on? Come on E.P. you cannot say Human Blue is Full-On. Name it melodic, cheesy, commercial but he never used any of the receipts out of the Full-On cookbook (which has been obvisiouly written in Israel :-) Just my 2 cents Fohat
