  1. If you have 2 lossless formats, isn't the only major difference between them the size? I mean each track takes up >50 MB so I'd say anything that can reduce the size would be best. There are plugins available for any format now. Ergo, APE/RAR.
  2. Some general suggestions to get started.... Goa suggestions... Etnica - Alien Protein Blue Planet Corporation - Blue Planet Electric Universe - One Love Cosmosis - Cosmology Doof - Lets Turn On Pleiadians - Identified Flying Object Shakta - Silicon Trip Psy suggestions... Talpa - The Art of Being Non (somewhat like IM) GMS - Juice (track from album No Rules) Jikkenteki - Flights of Infinity (free download from ektoplazm.com) Space tribe - Thru the Looking Glass Derango - Tumult (really dark forest trance be prepared!)
  3. Yup the Blue Energy album is awesome, Mai Mai along with Sommeil Paradox and After the Rain. And similar to jaia and ever better imho is..... Boris Blenn - Rain (california sunshine rmx)
  4. Its all subjective, you can't quantify parameters. Anyway.... 1. What kind of feeling does each track give me on a careful listen? A good acid trance track makes me feel like I'm flying into a star o_0 2. How formulaic is it? It may give me that "feeling" but if it uses formulaic elements its a goner or will get a lower place. 3. If it was a track produced wayy back, then I respect it more. Basically the "feeling" :posford:
  5. I prefer Genre - Artist. If you sort by label than you need to have a really good knowledge of music and the genre to effectively browse. Genre -> Artist is a much easier way to get to what you want. Besides, looking up the genre/catalog# for each release and renaming is a major pain.
  6. Looks like the good stuff already been mentioned, so I'll just put down these tracks that came to my mind Bypass Unit - Phaser Galaxy the last 3 tracks on Paradise Connection - Longbaceglider on Solstice, Jeboa Electrogarden and Source of Emotion. The first 4 are ok, but don't compare with these Otherwise the usual Shakta - SBiPB Hallucinogen - LSD Etnica - Trip Tonite MWNN - Teleport If you're looking for melodies you might like classic trance, which has clearer melodies, goa tends to be more complicated and intense Dance2Trance - We Came in Peace Jam & Spoon - Stella (1st half only) Sasha - Xpander Hybrid - Finished Symphony (breaktrance)
  7. I like Space Tribe's full-on, they have some awesome acid tweerps and squeals, and never rely on the all too familiar bassline, nor do they use typical psy sounds.
  8. DEEZ REVUUZ R REEDEEKULUZ I want psytrance
  9. I've never heard any Goa track that qualifies as "hardcore dark". That term makes me think of Winter Demon or something. If you want Darkish Goa try MFG - Project Genesis or Cydonia - In Fear of a Dark Planet. But Goa never really get purely Dark. There is one track I heard though which might qualify Tim Schudlt - Pretty Poison Also Transwave - Phototropic has this Skazi-esque guitar distortion thing in parts.
  10. Wow thats really awesome! Right now I have none of them o_0 though hopefully that situation will be remedied when I get a job.
  11. http://www.listology.com/content_show.cfm/content_id.31089 Something I put up, hopefully it will answer atleast some of your questions.
  12. Totally, I'm from Pune and I agree that Indians 100% misunderstand electronic music. They know nothing about it and think electronic music=rave=drugs period. The media are only too happy to hype things up. There was this big bust in Pune a year ago which didn't help matters. As a result the scene here is non-existent afaik =| and we're or I am reduced to listening to psy at home Btw a friend from Bangalore who went for Skazi said it was "surprisingly good"
  13. I don't know how you look at Etnica, but I look at their stuff as introspective music, not just psychedelic music. Listen to it carefully, pay attention to how each layer and each sound is introducted, and how the entire track arises and formes a gestalten whole, going beyond being just music into introspection. Atleast thats how it is for me :posford:
  14. Asia 2001 - Rakshas has crept up on me :posford:
  15. The one and only ETNICA - ALIEN PROTEIN A release with real depth, music with thought, for your soul =) Radio is goa? =S I thought it was the album that marked the beginning of the end of goa.
  16. Is there any site which has goa/psy vids?
  17. Gift of the Gods has some acid moments in the beginning. And aren't HSOC,Stakker Humanoid,Gamemaster,Access,Acid Air Raid,Acperience 1 good recommendations?

  19. Two self titled albums I missed out on.... Doctor Acid - Doctor Acid Ominus - Ominus
  20. +1 Acid Air Raid is simply amazing... Tracks Orbital - Remind Balil - Parasight Hardfloor - Acperience 1 Lost Tribe - Gamemaster Josh Wink - Higher State of Conciousness (acid breaks but mad acid) DJ Misjah vs DJ Tim - Access (acid techno) Albums Hallucinogen - Twisted album Cosmosis - Cosmology Chi-A.D. - Virtual Spirit (mixes hard acid and goa)
  21. What kind of music/genre is Ozric Tentacles?
  22. Yeah BPC is great...the Blue Planet album is utterly, intensely melodic, light Goa!! Mmmm..... :drama: Overbloody Flood is easily one of the best Goa tracks.
