Considering that it will get even better with subsequent listening, this is very likely to become (one of) my favourite Roach albums. The first disc is very hypnotic, with its slow and subtly evolving tribal rhythms, accompanied by deep, haunting synth drones. Disc two is entirely beatless, but it further explores those ethereal haunting atmospheres. I'd have appreciated more of that percussive stuff though, but still, I can highly recommend it. All I can say is that it has a rather organic feel overall, and that the beats are very slow and calm, rather in a tribal ambient way than like, for instance, the fractal rhythms on Core. I'd say they're typical Roach/Obmana beats but I haven't heard really much of their tribal stuff yet. The samples on Steve's website will give you an impression. Since the CD drive in my work computer has decided that it doesn't want to play audio CDs any more, I have to do all the listening in the few hours I spend at home every day... hours that should also be spent cooking, cleaning, watching TV, socializing with my wonderful girlfriend, and lots more.
