Our new EP 'La Laguna Negra' comes with two tracks merging the typical 1990s Goa sound with post rock. The first idea was to re-arrange the tracks to get a playing time which matches the size of a 7-inch vinyl single. But the current waiting times to get a vinyl release pressed are too long and the prices have increased too much. For this reason, we decided to release this EP physically on CD containing the tracks in their full length. The CD is available exclusively on Bandcamp as a limited edition of 55 (only 45 of them are offered). The digital release is also available on all major download and streaming platforms. A new M-run album? Sure, I'll dig into this. Let me get a cup of coffee first to keep focused. Hold my calls. Ahhh...that's the stuff. Now let's see...M-run for those that don't know is Mario Matakovic from Croatia and this is his second album. His first Some Run Just For Fun was a revelation in the goa trance scene. Easily a classic chock full of butt shaking grooves that took goa into directions never before seen. If you're a fan of goa trance it is mandatory listening. So with his second album for the Cronomi label he embarked on a very ambitious project, giving us a behind the scene look how he creates his music in the studio. So he created his tracks, practiced and rehearsed shooting for a recording in one take. Do you realize how difficult and extraordinary that is? Easy? Sure, maybe for an octopus. But to control an entire track and play it flawlessly in one take? And each track had a different hardware setup? I wonder how much F word was uttered during those takes. How many cats were kicked because he messed up one little bit and had to start all over again? I wouldn't be surprised if he was sick to death of playing these tracks. If I were you Mario I would be looking over my shoulder for PETA. They don't take kindly to cat kicking. "Ok Mario...take 76. F*cking hell." So what's the music like? First I'll say this is not Some Run II. Yes there are plenty of grooves and his production is second to none. Each track is its own tale and it is super easy to get lost inside. While his first album was an atom bomb with one jaw dropping moment after another this one is more laid back. It's not so much a "get on the dancefloor album" (although you could certainly dance to it), but more of a cerebral relaxed vibe. There are plenty of head bobbing beats and space age sound effects and even some times where it is powerful (Spiral Cloud, Hexagon). His production is second to none (love me some kicks without hi-hats to start a track) and I can honestly say it grows on me with each repeated listen. The all important first track sets the tone, bringing an organic and mysterious allure. Technosonic with its vocoded speech brings a down and dirty groove. The Magic Mug is like sitting in a groovy cauldron during an Egyptian summer. The Redeemer carries such a funky swagger while continuously building on its foundation that it is instantly one of my favorites. I would say this is another triumph for Mario. His two albums are distinctly different, but share equally impressive music. I heartily recommend this album. Cronomi Bandcamp

Goa Madness Records is one of the new kids on the block and this label has had quite the beginning. Their first release was a compilation called Memories From Goa Madness. They played it safe and it was tried and true goa trance. Nah, it was better than that in this reviewer's opinion. So fresh off the success of that release they drop this bomb on us. This is the debut album of Alexandre Cohen and it is beautiful. So many swirling melodies and those acid sounds are verily delicious. Set your phasers to maximum twirling because this is a journey that catches you up and doesn't let go. Twists and turns abound and the sound is terrific. It's a full and rich atmosphere with screeching leads and layers of immeasurable beauty. I'm sorry I don't have anything funny to say or silly gifs to post. The 50th Parallel is a 2 CD compilation that celebrates Suntrip's 15th year as a Goa-Trance label. The first CD is dedicated to the sun, and is more melodic. The second CD is dedicated to the moon, and features darker Goa-Trance. CD 1 1.1 KhetzaL - Garden of Nyagrodha Trees has such a clean, organic sound. The song includes almost everything you'd expect from one of Suntrip's most beloved artists, e.g., crisp melodies, sounds, and harmonies in healthy, warm atmosphere. The song is very homogenous, developing gradually. A part of me feels that the first half could have been punchier and more memorable despite the elegant Eastern-Indian influence and attention to detail. There is a beautiful interlude in the forth minute. The energy increases at 5:48 and is accented at 6:18, and this is where I felt most immersed, thanks to the exciting, psychedelic development. At 6:44, the artist alters the arrangement, adds fresh sounds, and key notes. It's beautiful. Before the journey's end, the listener is rewarded with a beautiful, climactic finale that's almost too good for words. All in all, the first two acts were solid; they could have stood out more. Thankfully, the world grew into something more enchanting and enjoyable as we progressed. Great track. B+ / A- 1.2 Cosmic Dimension - Deviant Behaviour begins with a beautiful, ambient-influenced opening. It sounds like it should be in a Castlevania film and deserves its own [non Goa] song. Act 1 is more psytrance oriented (to some degree) until an attractive synth enters at 2:47. It's very nice! After a beat-free transition, Act 2 begins. It starts out similar to Act 1. Actually, 3:42 to 4:35 could have developed more; it got fairly repetitive, but the second part of Act 2 (forth minute) is curious, more exploratory. Here the acidic synths fade for a more traveling, unexpected, and atmospheric offering, and although my girlfriend felt that the middle act was less memorable, I liked the non-acidic shift in sound. Variety is good, and this middle act, though lacking in a star sound or element to punch it up more, made the song more interesting to me. The last act is solid too. I enjoyed the climactic, dance-friendly synth at 7:17 that elevates the energy in its final minutes. Good track! B+ 1.3 Triquetra - Electronomic -- I just reviewed Triquetra's Ecstatic Planet (2018) album that included some of my favourite songs of the year. The first two minutes alone are great. An intense synth arrives at 2:31. It's too in-my-face loud, but ignites the music. The supporting synths is creative. The music is varied, and the 2:31 lead thankfully disappears at 3:38. A brief transition takes us to Act 2, a trippy segment with an edgy synth at 3:57. It's smart and punchy. The brief accents and nuances are delectable, strengthening the second act. After a brief drumroll via 5:25, I feel like the artists' missed an opportunity to elevate the final act. It's catchy, but the last few minutes (I feel) did little to improve the whole, as if the artists' ran out of ideas or ingredients early. Musically I like the complex, punchy sound/melody work and mixing. This is a tight track that ends with a tight continuation in development rather than a bang. That said, the song takes risks, sounds distinct. It's engaging and stands out. Strong track! B+ 1.4 Sykespico - Visit Earth has one of the best dramatic opening tunes (like a symphony) I've ever heard in a Goa song. It's so simple and captivating. It adds FEELS (!!!). As the beat kicks in, so does the empowering tune that grounds the music emotionally. The first act is excellent, simply in that it merges the dramatic (epic/backdrop) tune with strong sound/melody work and atmosphere. After the 3:11 transition, I would have loved if the middle act maintained the feels, taking us to new, dramatic highs. The artist(s) remove the emotive theme however, opting for a punchier, higher octane approach and it works! The Hallucinogen-esque synths at 3:37 are excellent, maintaining an infectious sound across the forth minute that knows when to end via 4:30. The second part of Act 2 (4:51) involves new synths and sounds. It's catchy, though it feels like it could have been in a different song. The Eastern-Indian melody from 5:58 to 6:25 I could have done without. Some of these elements are underwhelming to the wonderful, dramatic opening that seemed so storytelling perfect. Fortunately, the signature tune returns for Act 3 at 6:25, anchoring us with the hook and feels before the terrific synth at 7:19. The song took longer to fade out than necessary, but that's a nitpick. Although the middle act (at times) could have been a little more congruent and complimentary to the opening/closing acts, this is one of my favorite tracks on the compilation. Well done. A- 1.5 Hada - Emaginary reminds me of Ka-Sol. No intro. Hard beat and accompanied sound. The first 2-3 times I heard this song, I didn't like it. I can't deny that the core sound though is pretty hypnotic, psychedelic. Around it, creepy FX echo across the soundscapes. There are some catchy synths in the first act, but the music gets repetitive and less interesting by (somewhere in) the third minute. A much needed and improved change takes place at 4:32 where the music feels more confident, congruent, and satisfying. We soon return to less memorable sound/melody work (by comparison), but the creepy atmosphere is very nice! The seventh minute on grew increasingly more interesting and warped. Weirder doesn't always mean better, and by the eighth minute, the song becomes a little too dependent and repetitive on the distorted effect, before switching gears to something more solid that avoids repetition from being shorter. I'm back and forth with how good I think this song is. It has some very good/great elements, but it's one of the less interesting and engaging songs on the album for me. That said, this is a pumping dark number for the less conventional crowd. B- 1.6 Crossing Mind - Over Time Frame begins with an enchanting opening. It's like something out of a romantic sci-fi film or fantasy fable. Is it possible for the artist to develop a track with the more enchanting sound developing throughout (I wonder)? I'm thinking Chi.A-D. for inspiration but taking it further. Occasionally I hear an intro by Crossing Mind, and it's so sublime that I wish the song was mid or down-tempo to increase its chances of retaining the warm sound throughout. I've been following CM ever since the release of their album, The Inner Shift in 2012. hoping that one day they'd return to the futuristic and super funky candy land of sounds that made their Inner Shift album so memorable and endearing. The first act was decent. It could have been more interesting and varied with ideas, as it became fairly monotonous until a tune arrives at 3:00. The transition at 3:25 led to more gripping development at 3:40, and the song hooked me from there. I enjoyed the synths at 4:38, the trippy transition, and how the psychedelic infected the last act. That said, the last act seemed so short-lived. It could have done more and in that sense, felt underwhelming to me. The final cloud-walking segment was nice. B+ 1.7 Clementz - Trilafon begins with a wave of dark and atmospheric ambient. It's interesting. The first act builds a psychedelic rhythm with distinct sounds. It's pretty good, but grows repetitive. The artist(s) disengage a floating hymn, but we need something to vary up the sound, to keep us hooked. At 4:26 we get our answer. This next part is radically different, lower in tone, deeper in sound, and incorporates some experimental (?), almost funky electronic work to the mix. I like that the music broke free and opted to do something different and catchy. The last act via 6:11 incorporates fresh energy, development, and synths. The music here felt more flexible and realized. The artist even reprises a synth and accent from Act 2 that enhances the music, bringing the best elements together. The song is less memorable, elaborate, and felt a little minor compared to some of the other tracks IMO, but I liked it. B 1.8 Median Project - Life Line a refreshingly sleek and dualistic journey track. The song has feels (!), determination, and optimism. Act 1 is interesting and engaging, thanks to strong sound/melody work and atmosphere. The melodies are tight, psychedelic, and tastefully layered without sounding too acidy. My only complaint with the first act is that it could have used a little more variety, nuance, and development as it progressed. Act 2 lets its bouncy (very nice) tunes breathe, introducing harmony to the storytelling development. The end of the 5th minute involving a band of melodies moving together is elegant, gripping, and beautiful. Act 3 adds fresh ingredients and ingenuity, maintaining the inspirational sound I often miss in Goa. The track is traveling and easy to digest. It develops and evolves, and is easily one of my favorite songs on both CD's. Great work!!!! A- NOTE: I googled Median Project to learn that his main album released in 2018. It's in the Psynews review thread, In the Depth of Space (and it's good). CD 2 2.1 Battle Of the Future Buddhas - Faster Than Light begins with an interesting sample and synth. The synth at 1:14 is good, though the minor tune (segment) at 1:44 was less engaging. A brief transition takes us into the more psychedelic second act thanks to stronger synths from 2:45 to 3:29. The synths exit without something catchier from 3:30 to 4:16, and I feel that something more interesting could have replaced it. Another solid part is at 5:13 where the song rebounds. But I really liked when the 1:14 synth returned at 6:14 mixing in with the remaining music. This synth is so simple and catchy. Why not build on that catchy sound rather than have it infrequently come and go? Why not build stronger segments around it? I suppose I'm nit picking since the song does have a pretty catchy sound to it. The last two minutes were good. I just expected more as a whole coming from the legendary BotFB. B 2.2 Cosmic Serpent - Fractal Colors is very psychedelic and atmospheric. We get an icy synth at 1:38 and at 2:11, it sounds like a pianist playing an ice cube piano (catchy)! Once that leaves, the music felt less focused. The psychedelic backdrop remained, and the icy (ascending/descending) effect at 2:32 was good. Unfortunately, without more emphasis on sound/melody work, the song becomes almost too abstract for its own good. An attractive synth enters at 4:14, though minimal in development, short-lived. Could this part not have led to something more exciting and fun? The last act builds on the artistry. But I feel that the sound/melody work is triumphed by the imaginative world of textures and atmosphere. Missing for me are tunes, melodies, leads, buildup, climax, feels! Have fun with it, but being mindful of your crowd. Hallucinogen's Twisted and The Lone Deranger albums for instance were both fun while being wildly inventive. I admire the ambition. This is trippy track with some great elements, plenty of experimentation, and some clever sound usage, mixing, and editing. Just make it more fun the next time around! B 2.3 Everything Turns - Darkness Falls has a solid introduction that develops nicely. The atmosphere is good. The synths are lively, characteristic, and fun. The song continuously sculptures (improves on) itself. It flows well. There's no big event or climax, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I'd like to hear a main album by this artist showcasing the variety of greatness (in dark Goa) that he can do. Each act is focused, punchy, and beautifully mixed, with soundscapes, accents-- enough to keep me hooked. A nitpick is the sound at 4:02. It's not bad, but it stands out so much that the song feels a little less creative, and more repetitive from 4:01 to 5:22. The sound continues, altered like a supporting synth, and I don't feel like it enhanced the song in any way, although it's not bad (there's plenty of great sound mixing around it). That said, Act 2 met rather than exceeded my expectations. Darkness Falls is a strong track, and the first one I'm calling a favourite on CD 2. A- 2.4 Proxeeus - ...But the Joke's On Mankind begins dark and mysterious. The main melody enters at 1:21-- a bouncy, ebullient synth. It's good and the supporting sounds add to the dance friendly number. Around unique accents, e.g., 2:25, the artist continuously switches out ingredients, no matter how subtle, to support the main melody. The latter could have grown repetitive, bland, but it doesn't, and I think I'd enjoy this song most on the dance floor. We get our first break from the main melody at 4:48. The segment adds variety and the few drum accents are nice, though a bit brief. The last act seemed more refined, with new variation, note changes, and minor details. I liked the atmospheric interlude because of the chilling sound, like the stirring of a Tibetan bowl at 7:50, and that it continued beyond the interlude, into the main music's return. Little things like that are unexpected, creative, and catchy, a duding to the fun. Although the song has a similar sound from the lead, I feel that the approach works, especially for dancing. This is a trancey fun song! B+ 2.5 Triquetra - Torturing The Machine continues the unconventional approach. The first several minutes are a fairly experimental and feature little more than buildup to the best parts. I wasn't hooked until 2:27 thanks to the synths. But the song's first half has issues. It seems indecisive in development. The interlude from 3:20 to 4:26 was too long considering its purpose (basically) was to get us to 4:24 where things take off. Everything past 4:24 was so much more enjoyable thanks to the beautiful sound/melody development. Also, the mechanized atmospheric effect (whatever sounds excellent. It's frustrating that the first or second act by these artists is often so underwhelming compared to the rest of the song. Compared to Electronomic, I'll take a superior second half over a less memorable third act almost any day of the week. I hope this positively influences the artists because they're very talented and have endless potential. I love that this song kept improving throughout the second half. In short, the music started at 4:24 for me. Everything else was forgettable. Once the song grew confident, decisive, and a set of balls halfway through, it was [still is] a pleasure to listen to. B+ 2.6 Morphic Resonance - Wonderland is like JAWS on a bad trip. The song has a few short-lived murky spots before rebounding to stronger waters. The core sound (baseline and synth) is solid, stands out. The first few minutes are electric, fully charged and captivating. The synths grow to be magnetic at 1:38, again at 1:50, and crossing into the third minute. I love the supporting synths and atmosphere around the leads. The first act is exciting, punchy, and intense. The arrangement (being so short) in the third minute grew slightly repetitive, but i'm nitpicking. The middle (4th minute) act started out great, but from 4:22 to 4:49 the music sounded too muddled (over-stuffed with layers), producing an unpleasant (less punchy, focused) on the ears. This took away from an otherwise stellar song (thus far). Having something less maximal and refreshing in place of 4:22 to 4:49 would have better better, and I hope this feedback helps to improve things. The music rebounded soon after, but something about the sixth minute was less punchy (dynamic?) and did little to hook me. The energy of the music is strong, sure, but it's missing something that made the song's first half so tight. Fortunately, the seventh minute onward grew increasingly magnetic, and the finale is fantastic! That's what I'm talking about! My issue here is the same recurrent one I had on the artist's 2018 album, Perplexity. Around its few less captivating moments, this is a great track that showcases some amazing work by one of Suntrip's best artists since Filteria! A- 2.7 Ka-Sol - Hysterical Mass remind's me of Hada's Emaginary to some degree. No intro (well okay, a brief one), and a hard beat and sound at 0:24. The distorted effect to the music is unique, hypnotic. It's also repetitive and went on for too long. Act 2's soundscapes were nice, adding something different. But the synths sound more like effects then actual sound/melody development. I imagine that was the intention. I find this song so hard (literally, the beat), repetitive, and chaotic though, due in part to the relentless core 0:24 sound that I lose interest. It's too much. I'm looking for a focus, a lead to hook onto, something to enjoy. Act 2 breaks the beat in place of a trippy segment, followed by a catchy bopping accent. Both are nice, and some synths (initially) seemed catchy. But the music ultimately grew too muddled and repetitive for me, despite the end even having some pleasant (less jarring) work. This song is a relentless dark stomper that's sure to appeal to some. Give the song a listen and decide. Different perspectives is what adds to the whole anyway, but I digress. I'm sure some will connect with the music and enjoy this more than I did. Hysterical Mass is just not my cup of tea. C+ 2.8 Hada - Magic Of Nature is a bit of a mixed bag. Parts are rich and engaging, while other parts are repetitive and bland. The first act starts okay before devolving into monotony from 1:32 to 2:35. Repeating the same short arrangement, primarily when it's not very good, over and over again is one way to lose your audience. After a quick fade out, the music returns at 3:31 with more creativity and development. Act 2 is a huge improvement that's topped with a strong lead at 3:54 that adds variety. Why couldn't the first act have been better considering this is the same artist who did the second act? Unfortunately, the synths (general sound) from 4:23 to 5:41 grew repetitive. The music soon rebounded, thanks to an infectious, bouncy synth at 5:47. This is a terrific part, but after a short while it became less satisfying as the music crossed the sixth minute, offering little to further develop, enhance, or reboot the climax after the lead's disappearance. This resulted in a less memorable last 1-2 minutes. The last act could have been great, but it's good intermittently. Magic Of Nature is boring one minute, and exciting the next, and that's the issue. You have to ride your winning horses, stick to (and develop) your best work. I feel like this song along with Ka-Sol's would have been better on a different compilation. It makes sense that Suntrip wanted to offer different styles of dark Goa-Trance. They succeeded. I'm simply less a fan of these last two songs. B- Conclusion For a double CD, The 50th Parallel showcases music that is sometimes marvelous, often times great, and few times disappointing. Both albums are very good, but far from perfect. I heard impressive work by many artists including: Median Project, Sykespico, Everything Turns, Triquetra, Morphic Resonance, Proxeeus, Khetzal, and Crossing Mind, and was surprised by the unconventional approaches that some of the artists took. It's fun to see artist's taking risks (at times), and Goa music continue to expand, to some degree. I feel like Suntrip was mindful to avoid generic Goa. But a few of the songs I didn't like. Maybe the inclusion of BotFB, two Hada songs along, and KaSol's was to attract fans who may be less inclined to buy Suntrip albums unless they see a familiar artist. I don't know and am merely speculating. I wish the few weaker songs were replaced with stronger ones obviously, but at least most of the songs were good. A nitpick is that there are a couple songs on CD 1 that sounded dark to me, and I thought CD 1 was supposed to showcase the light? I'm not sure where I'd rank The 50th Parallel compared to Suntrip's previous compilations. Time will tell. It's very good overall and worth checking out, especially for those who are fans of quality light (more melodic) and dark styles of Goa-Trance. Very nice artwork and cover btw! Invitation To The Mad House Learn about as much about Australia as you do about 13th Star's first full release. 13 Star is Courtney Haynes, an Australian electronic musician who dabbles across genres. Alex musical trip started around 1998 when he discovered electronic music. He began slowly to buy DJ equipment and started to play progressive trance for his own pleasure. After some years training with the decks he got interested in many others electronic styles like techno, house, electro and began to play in small student parties. After some time, he discovered Goa trance / psytrance while he was at a festival in Belgium. He was so impressed and directly felt in love... Some times later he began to play in small oldskool Goa parties and started to produce his own music. Soon after he had the opportunity to be a resident for the German party org “Tranceforce prod” and started to play live acts and DJ sets in Germany a few times a year. Well, besides being nightmarish monstrosities living on the dark side of the Dreamlands' moon, it's also the name of a collaboration project between Alexandre Cohen (that's Ephedra), and Jerome Lesterps (a.k.a Proxeeus), respectively from Belgium & France. They decided to join forces a couple of years ago, first by making a collaboration track (which ended up being featured on Ephedra's 3rd album), and when they were asked to perform a complete collaborative set in Portugal earlier in 2019, they decided to take things up a notch and transformed this into a full-blown music project. What's to expect then ? My, ya'll are a curious bunch. The general idea is to obviously make a blend of both styles, with Ephedra’s floaty, melodic side bringing some kind of balance to Proxeeus’ more aggressive sound, which should result in something greater than the sum of its parts. According to Proxeeus though, it’s simply a plot to prevent Ephedra from making fluffy stuff and to bring him to the Dark Side (because we’ve got cookies over there, yo). It is the word I'd use to describe Ecstatic Planet. What this album avoids pretty well is using useless and predictable melodies and instead opts for absolutely vivid and odd sound design. It doesn't really follow the footsteps of modern post-2000 goa where all tracks share same intensity and melody structures, but instead it feels like it's molded from the same clay that Goa originally was. It sounds weird and at all times varied, aside from the screeching acid lines that might be a little over-abundant. It is highly danceable while remaining an interesting listen at home. You could throw tracks from this album to any compilation from the 90s and you'd have a hard time saying it's not from it. There is a clear ravey and unexpectingly alien sound to everything you hear. The highpoints of this album are fantastic(Gate To Happiness, No Unexpected Errors, Homonculus, Starbirth). There are moments that will undoubtetly wreck the dancefloors with their unconventional sounds. Homonculus is a perfect example of the album not conforming to the mainstream goa sound, it's just so weird. There is a melody at 2:00 that just sounds like your auditory nerves just went into overdrive. The tracks that fall a little short from the highpoints generally have too much repetition and can sound even a little bit aimless. Just about every track brings something new to the table for this album, and while it's not perfect, like some tracks engulf too much of the aforementioned problems, it has qualities that full albums don't always have - Variance. The Tracks sound different from another! the only real repetitous sound in this album is the typical screeching acid lines that I mentioned before. If you skip albums released lately you will find the sound is quite homogenous, I didn't really feel the same here. Absolutely not what I expected! I hope that it'll stand the test of time!

This week on Psylicious Radio we welcome Polish Goa trance producers Artha and Devi Divine who will be spinning your minds with their psychedelic goodness. Enjoy! Listen to the show: ARTHA [Cronomi Recs] PL Artha's project is led by Michał "Timer" Bączek, born on October 27, 1979, a talented inhabitant of Malbork. He derives his roots from the Goa current, which can be heard clearly especially in his first productions. He came into contact with electronic music as a child, listening to artists such as Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis. Through electronics, techno and trance he made his way to psychedelic trance listening to Hallucinogen's album "Twisted". This was his start in psychedelic sounds: Hallucinogen, S.U.N. Project, Space Tribe, Pleiadians. Artha has been making music for a good twenty or so years, his productions date back to 1996. He started writing Psytrance as soon as he came across this genre, because he was always into trance. However, He prefers the Goa trance genre, loves melodies, according to him it is the part that is significant and capable of falling into the listener's memory, therefore he places more emphasis on this part. Some of his works were inspired by the works of Hallucinogen, who inspires Artha to this day. Artha debuted in May 2005. It was then that, thanks to Dark Life Records, the Polish compilation entitled "Theory of Madness" was released, featuring Artha's track "Virus". On her account she also has two compilations with Time Warp Records "The Call of Goa vol."4 "and on the compilation" Polska Scena vol 1 "from the Be Psychedelic group. She has already performed in her country several times. Her work is energetic and dynamic. The songs are very melodic to fully express the artistic message. On its face you think a remastered 2 CD compilation of the greatest hits of Asia 2001 and his other projects is a no brainer. And it is, but reading some of the album's idiosyncrasies you have to scratch your head. Identical tracks with different names, track times cut short...housekeeping crap. Nothing to write your congressmen about. Like he would give two f*cks anyway. And if he's anything like that Toronto mayor, well... "HOLY SH*T THAT'S A LOTTA CRACK!!" That dude is the 2nd coming of Chris Farley. It's uncanny. Where was I? It's not until you read further that some of the first discs will not play or skips like hell on a cd player. O...k? Not a big deal, because who listens to music on a CD player these days other than your parents. Which leads me to the nut punch. Some of those discs won't let you rip the tracks to your computer. The reason given for this is the total duration exceeds red book standards. What the hell do they have to do with anything? And what's a non-b*tch doing on the cover. Hold up...sex quiz. Find out my real... Back on topic, while most of the tracks are classic Asia 2001 there are some that could have (read should have) been left out. But how do you choose between your children? *rolls eyes* Yeah, yeah, I've heard it before. Start with the dreadfully boring full-on Space Cat remix. Yeah I know you mastered the CD, but I also seem to recall you being competent at goa trance. And the two plus minute outro was unnecessary. Still, not being able to rip tracks seems like a huge deal. How do you let that leave the factory with a defect like that? Most of the tracks (Caribbean Night and Psychadelia are unreleased) are on his albums or on compilations under a different project name. So if you want his best goa tracks in one tidy package and don't want to get ass raped for Psykedelia then you can't lose. Unless you happen to get one of those quirky discs. This is a release that thanks to label head Draeke had every goa trance fan salivating. Whether you call them Etnica, Pleiadians, or Crop Circles these Italians are legendary in this genre and arguably responsible for the greatest goa trance tracks ever. I.F.O...classic. Alien Protein...classic. Tetrahedron...you guessed it, classic. So thanks to an act of theft (some guy actually recorded their live set to DAT) we have one CD of their performance in Athens. So what do you get? You have one disc with the recording of their live set in Athens in 1996 and another of unreleased goodies. The booklet contains a bunch of cool info about how this release came about and also the stories of the unreleased tracks. Highlights? They had to carry all their equipment with them to every show. Everything. What a pain in the ass. Now a pimply faced kid only needs to bring his Sony Vaio loaded with ProTools and he thinks he's Paul Van Dyk. Oh how the times have changed. As far as the artwork goes, I can take it or leave it, but one things for certain...you know it's Etnica when you see it. Live In Athens 1996 Intro- This monumental release begins with an intro that they played during all their sets. Maybe to set the mood or to f*ck with the seriously stoned, I cannot say. It is what it is...a slow percussive intro. Now on to the good stuff. Plastic- Plastic... Ewww. I wonder if silicone comes out when she blows her nose. First thing I noticed when comparing it with the EP is that this version is almost 2 and a half minutes shorter. Seeing how this disc is partially mixed perhaps they took out the bits that might've slowed the momentum. Again, I wasn't in the room, but you've got that signature melody that builds like a tsunami so no worries. With a constant thump the sparkling acid flickers like they were using a blowtorch. I wasn't a fan of the transition into Floating Universe, but that's minor. Floating Universe- Just an absolute stormer. Leads that are searching like the dendrites of an axon with lightning fingertips. There is no respite as it backs down in places and then regroups. You get the entire track that sounds great with the energy of a live wire. Antidote (Etnica Remix)- We've all heard the Pleiadians remix of the BPC classic, but I've never heard this one before. It's got a nice bottom end complete with a growl that's just waiting to erupt. Let the knob twisting commence! And boy do they. Guttural and squelchy at times this one leaves scorch marks when the leads aren't getting all twisted up like a nasty DNA strand. At almost 11 minutes this one is quite the ride. Nice Toys- This is another one I've never heard before. There is a reason this was released in time for the holidays. Ouch. Santa needs another AA meeting. Rest assured mine made it in time, so that above must've been the afterparty. More cloud bursting leads that twist and turn making the people below look like ants. Feel like the Silver Surfer as that bass growl is my surfboard. I wouldn't recognize the melody, but I sure do love the ride. Vimana- Oh boy we're in the meat of things now aren't we? And that melody is like getting wrapped with barbed wire. So sparkly and spacious, my twisting controls have been on auto pilot for a good while now. Lunar Civilization (Etnica Remix)- With a smooth transition we're onto the Etnica remix of a classic Crop Circles track and it doesn't take long for the twirling to begin again. THE melody comes in at 4 and a half minutes and the smile that you had to start has just been widened. A happy smile doofus. Not like somebody just cornholed you. It's a cluster of melodies from space thrown together in a shower of stardust. This is the holy grail people, this is what goa heads have been searching for. Time Dilation (Etnica Morning Mix)- According to the booklet this track was built around a beautiful sample and you hear it right from the get go. At over 15 minutes I don't have to tell you this is the longer version and it's worth every second. That voice is heavenly and makes me think of an ethereal Lord of the Rings wispy vocal. But in space. It's a softer track (their words) and was only played during morning sets. Takes a while to get going and it builds along the way. Like the booklet said even though this one is not as aggressive, you can tell it is form the minds of Etnica. Best of Unreleased Mankind- The bass and pads make this seem other worldy and like all their tracks it builds with each measure. Halfway through Mankind takes a storming posture as if daring you to look at it. The shimmering wall of color is there, probing, showing you the way. I like this one because while it's also big, it reveals the guts in places. Know what I mean? Like that drum n bass rhythm? So did they because they built the track around that. Electric Shower- That would electrocute you...right? Might as well throw a toaster in the bathtub. Whoa whoa...don't do it yet. You gonna eat those pop tarts? From 1998 this track marked a time when the way they made music had changed. They took a bunch of samples (From the first ever sample CDs) and put them together and well, manipulated the hell out of them. Hence, electric shower. It's noisy and not their usual layers of melody and probably my least favorite of both discs. Rotating Fields- "Ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight? I ask that of all my prey?" Made entirely by Maurizio in Milan in 1998 after their first trip together in Brazil it's an acidic chunky b*tch. Groovy with lots of effects he dedicated it to someone special at the time. Very psychedelic with the six million dollar man effect when he does something bionic. Remember that? Remember, remember when that was... *sigh* you kids weren't even alive. It started off strongly, but lost steam on the way down. He mentioned that he wanted to make some changes but never got around to it. Fluorophilia Camps Bay- Made in 1997 by Carlo and Maurizio in South Africa after they released I.F.O. it bubbles with intensity and finds its legs halfway through. Forest sounds or effects made to sound like the forest are present throughout. There is a lot going on while it surges and recedes. Pretty good track with numerous melody changes. Blinded Moon- Well no wonder it's a blinded moon, there's a f*cking muppet dancing on it. Based on a techno track (Trans Pact) back in 1997 this one is of a darker nature. But that said, it's very melodic to my ears with several leads and a true outer space vibe. This is great Etnica stuff with more shimmering synths and unfriendly extra terrestrial life. If this was on Alien Protein it wouldn't be out of place in my opinion. Jungle Trax (Etnica Remix)- Ah a remix of the Pleiadians classic. According to the insert they used to make a bunch of different versions of a track (which probably means there is more gold in them thar hills!) and the main thing I notice about this one is that it doesn't have that key change found on the original. Which is good cause I didn't like that. Otherwise it's a churning track that seems to go on for awhile, wrapping you up in its spin. Sparks fly after 5 minutes culminating with a solid finish. Mental Puzzle- Quite possibly the rarest of the rare this track was heavily damaged and required some serious restoration. Like if you peed all over the Mona Lisa I guess. Not quite, but kid's got a future. Made back in 95 it crushes the competition with its relentless pace and varied melodies while keeping true to the bubbling goa sound. 15 minutes. That's f*cking insane. Do you have any idea how many galaxies you can visit at light speed in 15 minutes? Like...3 I guess. Sparkling, intense, and an old school gem to be sure. It seems unending with it's many spirals of sound and if I had to put it in layman's terms. This track is a Labrador retriever plowing a kid over in a flooded field. What? Phthalic Vibes- Ah the final track in this unbelievable journey. And what a f*cking track it is. The last one composed by Etnica as a quartet it was meant to be released on a Fluorophilia album that never was. It's a killer with more bounce than a chick with double D's. Forceful and a fabulous way to end this trip. Holy f*cking Cow. That was something else. I imagine this review is going to read more like a promo with correct English than a review, but what do you expect? It's Etnica from their golden goa period. Did you think Draeke was gonna waste his time uncovering turds? Work his ass off for something mediocre? I could've written this review in one word. Awesome. The vast majority of the tracks are stellar and what goa trance should be. Melodic, driving, trip inducing...It sounds great and a perfect way to close a chapter in goa history. Unless they have even more gems that they are waiting to release at a later date. Me peeking into Joske's window seeing what he's got up his sleeve. I mean, what he's listening to. Yeah, what he's listening to. What did you think I meant? Whoa, whoa hold on...he's way older than me. It's not like I comb the elementary schools for unsuspecting prepubescent boys in hopes to lure them away from the twisty slide and ask them if they will fart on this sandwich I've got in my bag. That's messed up. And a waste of a perfectly good sandwich. Suntrip: "What the f*ck? We asked him for this?" Ok, so I'm not a deviant, not even close. But you will see why I might be exhibiting deviant behavior. Here we have a release by one of if not the greatest Goa Trance acts in history full of stuff you've never heard before. Their album Transdimensional was one of the most superb goa trance albums of all time with more melodies than you can shake a stick at. All wrapped up in some thick deep space atmosphere. Now I'm still not over my man crush on the Mindsphere and Etnica releases and Suntrip goes and drops this gem on me? Oh well, like a dutiful Mormon I just smile and say the more the merrier. But carrying on a relationship with three people may cause some to label me a deviant. Moving on from one album to the next like the goa whores we are can be signs of deviant behavior. Or the greatest party of all time. Said every single guy ever. Now I believe that with Patience From Heaven and Live in Athens 1996 the bar has been set in the modern era. Again. Ok first things first the artwork (by Fabián Arturo Jiménez Gally) is light and beautiful. Nice enough in fact that I would love a poster of it on my wall. Except my wife would probably tell me to take my hippy sh*t to the basement cause it clashes with whatever motif she's currently got going on. I swear all my sh*t is down there, it looks like a hoarder lives there. Secondly there are going to be comparisons to Etnica's Live in Athens 1996 and that's understandable. Both artists are legends and two great labels are releasing tracks that have never been heard or are ridiculously rare. The difference is that this is a single disc of unreleased tracks. To be followed by another disc of rare tracks that were only on obscure vinyls. Pretty smart too cause the minds at Suntrip know that some people already have those tracks so why jack them for some stuff they don't need and make 'em buy a double album? But you know you're gonna get it, so just set aside the 20 euro from your part time job as a fluffer and don't think about it. Look it up. So how is it? The most important label in today's goa trance has an incredible track record consistently releasing quality album after quality album. For some perspective, in the big leagues if a player hits .400 he is phenomenal. I think only one player in the history of baseball (not sure, I hate baseball...so f*cking boring) has ever had a batting average like that during his career. Well this player averages near 1000 over their 9 year run. Melodic goa trance is what they do and they do it better than anyone else. Now I could be the fanboy that I am and just tell you that this is their greatest release to date, and everything else pales in comparison. But that's not how I write. This is a great album with 8 tracks that you've never heard before. Melodic and old school to the bone with more of their trademarked atmosphere you crave. At times it hits hard and during others track lengths are measured in trippy light years not minutes. It sounds great which is another feather in the cap of Tim Schuldt. And there is no question that if you're a fan of D5 or goa trance than you should most definitely buy this. Maybe I got spoiled by the Etnica release, but I missed having an insert detailing what the story was behind the tracks. But that has nothing to do with the quality music so who cares? But it's not Transdimensional 2. How could it be? When you've reached the mountain top how much higher can you go? There's a reason these were unreleased and the ones on Transdimensional made it to the album. That album is an absolute classic. So much so that Suntrip (damn these guys are good) already re-released it. They knew. But they also knew that we as fans of goa trance have a hunger for unreleased stuff. If there is a possibility of good tunes out there that we haven't experienced then why not let them see the light of day? But please don't call these b-sides, because I think that title demeans what they are. Whether they made it on the album or not, we wanted them. We needed them. Though only 4 tracks the journey is a full albums length, beginning slowly before shattering expectations in a nuclear crescendo of goa trance wizardry. This is a concept release made by eight artists all of whom have previously appeared on releases from the label. Embedded within the artwork one will find hints of connection to previous Neogoa releases, particularly the Dimensional Gateway series and Celestial Transvibrations. We often talk in terms of releases not breaking any new ground, but this one does. Chapter I: The Vision (Passing The Monolith Into The Throat Of Time) I realize that every journey begins somewhere and to get to the World Beyond, this is the first step. But to me this is 17 (yep 17) minutes of stumbling around in an attic like the ghosts in Scooby Doo. Dark ambient when done well captures a feeling and propels the listener where the artist wants he or she to go. This sounds like a collection of noises that I skip every time. Perhaps it will appeal to some and that's good. No big deal, I don't get opera either and people love that sh*t. Chapter II: The Journey (Across The Silver Sea Of Eternal Life) is the bridge between the opening track and the outright earthquake that is to come. Like the others it's dark ambient opening sets the tone before it glides into a mid-tempo march. Goa sounds and effects ricochet off the walls as it prepares you for the oncoming train. It's mellow yet entrancing in it's own right and then changes tempo and adds a tribal aspect to its arsenal. Not devastating like the next two, but it's not supposed to be. The journey and understanding...take time. Chapter III: The Gate (Facing The Keeper Below The Human-Form Mountain) is the precursor to the blistering final chapter, but is a stomper in its own right. It also allows the dark tension to build before bouncing into another old school feel. The bounce on this one is infectious instantly morphing the worst dancers into a rhythmic Shiva where colors flow from magical fingertips in an elaborate tapestry of mystical dance. The vocal tacet seals the deal and I've just punched my ticket to Nirvana. Excuse me whilst I get down. Chapter IV: The Sphere (Ascending Towards Star-Eaters To Become The One). This track is an acidic napalm blast peering through darkness at the outset. Growling 303's are readily apparent and it sends electrical shivers through the atmosphere. 23 minutes of hurtling through the cosmos, top down system up! A perfect blend of old school rawness with modern sound and production. I believe all the old masters who delivered subpar post goa releases (looking right at you MFG and Pleiadians) should listen to this and learn how beautiful and raw goa trance can be today. A third of the way through and I already think this is one of the greatest goa tracks ever produced. The intensity is maintained as is the atmosphere and I realize I am in the presence of greatness. The break is palpable, a thing alive. Perfect. Sublime. Ruthless. Mystical. You heard Homer. I'll be honest with you. I don't have the patience to figure out the riddle. I've got kids and I had to take one of them to the emergency room on Friday. So I'll leave the mystery solving to Scoob, Shags, and you guys. But whomever was responsible for the energy, the journey, take a bow. The final two tracks for me are the most potent one-two punch I've experienced in recent memory. Ivan you once again have guided the music to a world beyond, with awesome sound, breathtaking presentation, and reassurance that just when you think you've gone as far as you can go the horizon is within reach. Just a damn shame." And this is how GoaTrees were born. Probably. I guess...I wasn't really that attentive in botany class. And how could I be when there were so many hot chicks looking for that easy A? GoaTree is Lukas Bartosek from Slovakia which is somewhere near India I think (geography class had even more honeys in it). This is his debut album presented for free on the Neogoa netlabel (although not only net anymore, eh?) with artwork by the one and only Richpa. And it begins with a thumping good goa track (Aura) that I was rockin' whilst mowing the lawn. Good lawn mowing music for sure. Dats my whip! Straight gangsta! Husqvarna fo' life! Yeah, I'm 44 years old. I don't speak that way. Forgive my momentary lapse. The next couple of tracks bounce along nicely with some catchy melodies and I liked the breakbeat in Akasha Connection. Don't You has a repetitive chant (African I believe, but as I told you I was looking at the ladies so I could be wrong) that doesn't thrill me. So...do I? No I don't. Oblivion Planet wasn't anything special and Invisible People comes off as simple filler, limping along. Weekly Drive had a grand beat during the break which changed things up a little before it rocketed back into a hyper 4/4. Not bad. Order to My Chaos ups the BPM's to 160 for a high intensity workout and he closes with the downtempo/midtempo Artificial Intelligence. Is that a f*cking shanai? Again like a lot if the tracks on this album I'm filled with a large load of meh. What the hell happened? I've found his compilation tracks much more detailed and enjoyable than a good portion of this album. It's not bad at all, but he himself has set the bar high so expectations of course rise with it. Perhaps this could've been another EP release instead of an album where he branches out and flirts with different styles. The sound is great and listening to Aura tells me that he has the ability to deliver the goods. He just didn't seem to do it here. Free at Ektoplazm!

In 2008. they released 3 compilations and 1 album, compilations wins. In 2009. they released 6 albums and 0 compilations, albums wins. In 2010. they released 2 compilations and 1 album, compilations wins. In 2011. they released 3 albums and 0 compilations, albums wins. Are they gonna continue to stick with this interesanting 'compilations-albums-compilations..'' formula/scheme in 2012 I don't know but what I do know is the fact that you can't go wrong when it comes to Suntrip's music. They're continuously pampering Goa trance fans with great releases since 2004. and it seems they aren't planning to stop. Their first official release for 2012. is compilation Shaltu and this time they're presenting (alongside with old & already known Suntrip projects) some new names. In promo text they described what Shaltu means (Shaltu, an ancient Amerindian word for the helping spirits of dancing shamans) and I decided to skip some in-depth research of indigenous tribes of America (not gonna lie you here, I love almost everything that has something in common with history and ancient civilizations, but hey, I also love to be first one who posted review for this one here on Psynews). OK, let's go, first track is Lifethread from Norwegian Goa trance heavyweights - Ra (Christer Borge-Lunde & Lars W. Lind)and from the very beginning you can feel their trademark sound - little bells and melodies swirls around while basslines slowly and subtly prepares you for rhythm. I must say that sound overall is somehow different than it was on their super-awesome 9th album, this track sounds much fatter with extra depth. First (shorter) break comes around 5th minute and it's filled with nice melodies, second one around 06:30 mark is longer and in the background you can feel beautiful layers and growth of main melody. Peak of the track comes right after and it's great. I don't know when we can expect full lenght from Ra but if it's gonna sound like Lifethread than don't be afraid, it will rock! Stéphane Bèze is man behind Crossing Mind project and he has been pretty much active recently, besides his debut album The Holographic Paradigm on DAT Records in 2010, he released an EP last year on UAF Records and now he appears here on this compilation with his track Hydrophobic Visions. Track kicks off with nice intro and a bit slower beats with catchy effects in background, atmosphere in this one is super, nice melodies swims around and you can feel their warmth. We don't have some extra huge peak(s) here, especially because it relies more on atmosphere(s) and there is no need for big build-ups and ending of Hydrophobic Visions is nice and emotinal. Like. Nebula Meltdown is one man project from Finnland of Kristian Aro, man who already released on Suntrip's Temple Of Chaos compilation. Mindstream Continuum starts something like Hydrophobic Visions a bit more slower and beat comes with awesome and psychedelic bassline, effects in background reminds me on Kali track from Quatermass project which is one of my favorite Goa trance tunes from Pulse series. First break is followed with mystique female voice and 303's in background. Mindstream Continuum is much more darker than previous two tracks. Ending of track is just perfect, wobbling acid sounds and melodies are just great. So far my favorite track on this compilation. 4th track...woah, wait, what? Shakta+Deedrah with Filteria's remix. OMG let's hear it. Forget about slow and emotional intros, there is just small speech at the beginning and the beat comes like a storm, Jannis Tzikas knows how to start a fire for sure! Retro Filteria sound is back people, this remix just bursts with energy and raw power, Lepton Head's melodies are a bit reworked but the main theme is still here and it sounds - EPIC. Orginal is a classic, without doubt, but this one isn't something that will cut off the vibe of orginal, no sir, it gives more input and it does that flawlessly. The only break is around 5th minute mark and right after comes one of the most gorgeous climaxes, ever. Pure goa trance smasher, six out of five stars. On number five is InnerSpace with self-titled track and to be honest I had to use Google for this project because I never heard anything about this guy, so my friend Google told me that InnerSpace is Jörg Schemczyk from Germany and he has been involved in psychedelic trance as a DJ and producer through last 13 years. After Filteria's remix it's somehow ungrateful to be on number 5. Well, it seems that InnerSpace isn't somebody who doesn't know how to do some Goa trance, on the contrary he does it like a baws. 11 minutes of pure madness, perfect play with melodies and effects, great storytelling until 7th/8th minute, and than...BAAAM, one of the most great acid drives ever, pure psychedelic lunacy in absolutley positive way. Don't know what conclusion to give after this one, it's probably one of the best findings of Suntrip Records for sure, and probably many people will have an eye on this guy after hearing his work on Shaltu. Emergency Acid System is collaboration work between my dear buddy Nikola Petrović (Imba), owner of Serbian UAF Records and Belgian Alexandre Cohen (Ephedra). Track starts with short speech and acid effects, soon after comes beat and 303's starts to expand slowly. EAS doesn't have any bigger breaks and it's more straight-forward Goa trance tune with basic melody that come and go from time to time. Around 7th minute melody changes and it's followed by acid effects in background, very nice climax but it's shame it didn't last that much. Not bad track, but not good either (as previous ones). According to Suntrip's promo text Fractal Memories is debut appereance of Shani Yantra and probably that's main reason why my friend Google couldn't help me out with this one, so appologies because I don't really know who this guy is. There isn't any intro in this one, track starts like a hurricane and it's more melodic and brighter than previous one. Few nice melodies around 2nd minute, it reminds me on Eleusyn's work (side project of E-Mantra). Fractal Memories is pretty much fast and energetic track but it doesn't lead me anywhere, it got decent first half but after it all repeats and I can't say that I'm thrilled. It's a debut release so I'll give some credits to this guy. Number eight is Ra's Time Current, remixed by Emmanuel Carpus, better known as E-Mantra. Emmanuel is very busy man, he is releasing uptempo (on Suntrip) and downtempo (on Altar) constantly for a few years now and people might think productivity could affect creativity, but that's not a case with E-Mantra. Last year he released album on Suntrip and now he returns with remix for Ra's classic. There isn't some huge difference between orginal and this remix, both got great storytelling, smooth and dreamy atmosphere with technical approach to melody development, the only thing that makes difference here is E-Mantra's specific sound, many people likes it so I guess that remix will get a green light from Goa trance lovers, one thing is sure he gets a lot of green light from me. Last and final track is Universe from Croatian project Sirius who currently lives in Macedonia and man behind Sirius is Mario Ruff. If I remember well, last year I bumped on his works online but they were in downtempo genre so I didn't know that he's doing uptempo stuff aswell. Universe starts with pretty much fast beat and typical Goa trance basslines, few melodies in background slowly build up track towards the first break around 4th minute. Female(?) speech and rebuild-up of melody on the break is nice, but nothing spectacular, before it ends we can hear melody like on the beginning but slightly different. Not a bad track, but it's not my style, just because it got that overused-generic-goa-trance-formula which I don't like honestly. Conclusion - Shaltu is different than other Suntrip compilations, it's not that-much into sunny Goa trance like Energy Waves, but it's not that much into darker spheres of Goa like Temple of Chaos, but yet it got some of both and it gives even more. It's hard to give definition of Shaltu, just because the fact that we got almost 80 minutes of diverse Goa trance from new and old artists and some tracks got more warmth and positive feelings while some are much more darker (using this term carefully, don't want anyone to think that they repated vibes from Temple Of Chaos) and more acidish. My favorites are: Mindstream Continuum, Lepton Head (Part III) (Filteria's Z-Particle Remix) andInnerSpace. Lifethread andTime Current (E-Mantra Remix) are also great but I'm sure others will post enough of praise for thoose two. Hydrophobic Visions is also more than solid. Mastering was done as usual by Tim Schuldt and it sounds flawless. Artwork looks organic and it got warm colours and nice tribal motives which I like but that font is just awful. Cosmo Drome (Piano Version) Zion 604 has basically knocked everything they have released out of the park. Very consistent which is why this release surprised me. As if you didn't already you have to take this review with a grain of salt. I never cared for the music from this artist. He didn't have the melodies of others and I always thought of his as weird. This compilation of tracks confirms my beliefs. Like the DJ's father above says, it's not my style. This isn't floaty, melodic, or hypnotizing trance. Leave it to the Japanese to make something totally different. It's not bad it just isn't for me. And that's ok. It's rife with discord. It aims to antagonize, like it's angry at the listener. It sometimes goes in weird directions that are jarring or unsafe. There were parts I enjoyed in most tracks, but it was never sustained. Sometimes it was noisy just to be noisy. And don't get me started on the annoying level of Eejyanaika. It's definitely not your run of the mill goa release but what I can say is that I appreciate the varied directions in which he attempts to steer his brand of goa. So...I'll pass on this one. California Sunshine - Wonderland (2011 Edit) "It's so weird I've never forgot it." Well, repetition is a good way to remember things. But we'll address that later. This digital compilation arrived out of nowhere from a label that most would be hard pressed to say they had heard of. Regardless of that fact they seem to have gathered an impressive artist list. UX does what he's been doing lately and that's making long, epic tracks that straddle the psytrance goa line. This has a futuristic vibe with an ethereal voice and driving rhythm. Pretty good even if it ran a little long. I wasn't a fan of this reboot of the OOOD track. I don't know if the original artist was behind the reboot, but gone are the gravitas and melodic momentum that made the original such a bad ass. No offense to the artist, but this comes off as a weak Talamasca-esque full-on "ing" of a goa trance classic. The Goasia project fits into an alternative niche in the goa genre. Often people love them or hate 'em. They are definitely different then most of the goa producers today and this track is no exception. It swarms like a uh, swarm waging galactic warfare with a myriad of color. Outside of the lead melody though it's a little thin. Nice, but I would've liked more detail. M-Run has only one album to his credit (still waiting), but what a doozy it was. With that spirit this track is unmistakable M-run. Groove intact with sparkly goa madness throughout. One of my favorites here. Phantom Stormer blasts right out of the gate with an imminently danceable sound. Relentless in your face goa trance. Joyfull Nature is the sole unknown artist represented and this track starts off...well, joyfully. Not long after it assumes the mystical sound of goa beaches with a gentle flowing motion. Like a smooth introduction to the goa producers club. Not bad. Miranda is back (always a good thing) with a decent if not unremarkable effort. I liked the weird voice in the background, gave it an air of mystery. Omnivox absolutely slays with We Are Infinity a track with a boisterous bottom end. Closing things out is an older remake of Wonderland by California Sunshine. Never been a fan of this project and repeating the sample 12 times isn't going to help. The same sample. 12 times. That means on average every 43 seconds you hear this sample. Nephew please. The background sounds added to the alien feel (if you're in the mood to be funny and I always am it could also sound like cats) and this had the potential to be a creepy success. Had.
