  5. abasio - very well said! Ready or not for Hilary, I think its time for the U.S. to have their first women president (after the last breakthrough of having a president with African origins)
  6. Monotheism, especially Islam since it addresses both mind and heart in a an amazingly complete approach. Having lived for some time in the Middle East, I can tell you Islam as a religion is currently the most misunderstood and media bombarded religion. It has reserved the number 1 place as the enemy to exploiters of our times, mainly since, had any country the chance to rule under Islamic values, many interests of dictators and materialistic giants would have fallen apart. The general consensus is that science and religion do not meet, rather they even negate one another. This doesnt seem to be the case with Islam, especially when we realize that the book of Muslims, the Quraan (Koran), contains over 1000 verses (out of 6236 total, I think) that have a scientific nature or background. Many fields are addressed, including: Astronomy/Astrophysics: You will be amazed to find that the 7th century (A.D.) Book talks clearly of: 1. The big bang 2. Expansion of the universe 3. Law of gravity 4. Celestial bodies nature ...and even some hints to relativity and light-speed! References to some stars and astral events are also present, including: Black Holes, Pulsars (pulsating stars)and even the star Sirius! (the latter being a Star worshiped by ancient Egyptians/ Arabs) http://corpus.quran.com/translation.jsp?chapter=53&verse=49 http://www.ediscoverislam.com/understanding-holy-quran/scientific-miracle-quran-universe-black-hole Though Judaism & Christianity may have similar roots or common beliefs with Islam, the latter combines the mind-quenching logic of scientific fact-finding (and mind-expanding realizations), with the poetically expressed enigmas of the metaphysical (Angels, Paradise, Hell, and much more). Isaac Newton, one of the most complete scientists in known history, was deeply religious. Albert Einstein, another great scientist behind two of the most important scientific discoveries, is also knows to have said: Science without religion is lame, Religion without science is blind. (Albert Einstein, 1941)

  10. Sufi music is truly captivating & entrancing! surely not psy in its roots but the emotional use of instruments esp the "Ney" (Nay in Arabic ; reed-flute in English), which sounds like echoing cries of longing joy, deep sadness and ultimate wisdom. the master of this genre has to be "Omar Faruk Tekbilek", whose Ney improvisations are top-notch! Finest track IMHO: Hu Allah La Ilaha Illa Allah Yunus Sultan of the Hearts Whirling Dervish Sufi Song of the Pharaohs Salute to the Sun other gems by OFT with an Oriental touch: Nighttime Egyptian Dance I Love You Magic of the Evening Why Common Spirit Kolaymi Ghizemli "I Love You" track made it to one of the Buddha Bar album series. "Take A Flight" & "Ya Bouy" tracks got remixed too
  11. The word "peace" is "Salam" in Arabic, and actually makes the root word of "Islam", that has a double meaning: being in peace AND submission to God. Reasons why Arabs or Muslims fight depend on many factors; mainly from within - lack of Justice esp. by the non-elected "leaders", who ironically in many Arab countries belong to minority groups rather than majority of population and their respective views and demands. The word "Jihad" has been misused by propaganda mediators; in essence it means "struggle" and it refers to 2 different matters: inner battle against desire, the Devil, etc...and War against offenders/occupiers/settlers/mercenaries.etc. In history Arabs/Muslims built a beautiful civilization and ignited many basics for scientific & aesthetic backgrounds; however now its more like the "Dark Ages" for them... btw I do enjoy reading most of your eloquently funny reviews, some are truly epic! :-)

    RA - Unearthly

can't get enough of this album... RA should seriously consider making more down-tempo music, MAX 120-BPM! ALL tracks are just great, but my personal favorites are: 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 I expected a bit more from the last track "Celestial Slice", since usually RA's final tracks are rare ambient gems!
