That's fair, I just hope the album doesn't end up in limbo like Son Kite's latest!
-
Pass on my email if you don't mind... I'm a big Etnoscope fan from way back

Heyoka is an act I just discovered. Eat Static has some great dubstepesque material too. Amygdala's been dabbling as well (woo, my first mobile psynews post!)
-
I'm with Kras on this one. Very pretty but rather hollow--just like a lot of big budget Hollywood films. Still, I would watch it again, and the visuals really were gorgeous enough to feel immersed in an alien world, at least in parts here and there.
-
I hope it sees the light of day! The album has been rumoured for some years now... much like the next Son Kite album.

SEPTAGRAM - THE FORBIDDEN PATH OF OLYMPUS EP 01 - Forbidden Path (146 BPM) 02 - Amanita Strike (148 BPM) 03 - Olympus (150 BPM) 04 - Angel Of Mercy (160 BPM) Ektoplazm returns with The Forbidden Path Of Olympus by the Greek act Septagram, a collaborative project formed by Dimitri Dark Elf and Mario Darkshire. Taking its name from the mountainous dwelling place of the Olympian gods of the Greek pantheon, this EP seethes and sizzles with sinister psychedelic atmospheres and menacing primal energy. Raising the tempo with every track, Septagram ratchets up the tension level until it shatters in a cathartic explosion of supernatural proportions. Mastered by Dark Elf at KGB Labs with artwork by Alexander Synaptic featuring polymer clay faces by Jay King. Download it for free in MP3/FLAC/WAV or purchased it on CD direct from Ektoplazm: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/septagram-the-forbidden-path-of-olympus-ep/

No worries, didn't mean to make it sound like a complaint. The format is just Release [Label]? That's exactly what I have on my list of "best free releases in 2009" (which is just a selection of a few fan favourites based on rating and comment activity on Ektoplazm):

No Ektoplazm releases whatsoever? You are welcome to have a look at my list of major netlabel releases in 2009: http://tinyurl.com/ydjmxjw (We already have 250+ responses... so it's not minor stuff.)

Something new... not yet finished but the front might be good to go. Note: the faces were sculpted by Jay King, an artist I found on Flickr, and used with permission.

What music are you listening to right now?

Still one of the softest and most seductive psychedelic chill out albums I've ever heard. A lot of these songs are quite simple at first listen but considerable complexity lurks beneath the surface.

Only Ektoplazm at the moment... I just don't have time for anything else

Thanks No, the CD is broken into tracks with no gaps in between. It is still a seamless audio voyage! Since there is a strong interest in the physical copy please keep in mind it's a Kunaki CD. It is not a "CDr" but also not a traditional glass-mastered CD like you would get from Psyshop. The quality is still good and guaranteed--in the unlikely event you receive a defective copy you can always contact me for a replacement!

Designing the cover for Jikkenteki's third album is probably the my most ambitious graphics project yet. I set up the scene at a friend's loft using a lot of cool stuff she collects (creepy dolls, birdcages, old machinery, etc.), shot the photos, and later edited them into the artwork you see here. One exception: the inside panel photo is from an unrelated shoot in an abandoned building. I'm pretty happy with how it all turned out! Weird bit of trivia: the lettering for the album title was taken out of a flooded print shop in New Orleans after Katrina swept through. I was told the type was not cleaned so part of that grime is caked-on floodwater!

Another two hour design challenge:

Yes, but there is a cut version available if you would like the album split up into tracks. Since it was designed to be a continuous listening experience the original is presented as a single file with an attached cue sheet for CD burning. If the single file is confusing I can always make the cut version the default for downloads... it seemed okay when I posted the Freeform Human album so I went with it
