  1. I had a laugh when I heard bits of Joy Division and Chris Isaak smashed up in the middle of some hazy atmospheric break. Or was that the music on the speakers at the coffee shop? I couldn't really tell. Anyway, I can see this album will require many listens to formulate a real opinion... sounds very soft for the tempo, warmer and more relaxed as noted here. It works quite well for listening... and the effect is quite entrancing, though I am not personally into much high-BPM anything most of the time. There is a lot to digest here... so give it time.
  2. At first I was surprised to find a crew I hadn't heard of operating in my home town... but then I read the post. You realize this is a psytrance forum? Love the "glowstick legend" anyhow...
  3. Released! http://www.ektoplazm.com/2010/mukti-amida
  4. Transformation Of Reality was a revolution for me when I heard it... for so long I had been deep into progressive and darkpsy and hadn't heard any proper full-on psychedelic trance and then this came along: http://www.discogs.com/Braincell-Transformation-Of-Reality/release/1025548
  5. Preview the new release on SoundCloud: http://soundcloud.com/ektoplazm/mukti-monoblock
  6. MUKTI - AMIDA 01 - Entoptic Reverie (148 BPM) 02 - Jazz Mutant (146 BPM) 03 - Upon A Star (152 BPM) 04 - Monoblock (150 BPM) 05 - Amida (148 BPM) Ektoplazm welcomes the return of American psytrance and ambient producer Mukti (Darren Harper) with Amida, a collection of five songs similar in style to the lo-fi darkpsy/forest vibe of his debut release, Magick Mother. In his own inimical way Mukti unites the atmospheric minimalism of deep droning ambient with driving psychedelic trance rhythms and hypnotic hooks. The unlikely fusion that results is equal parts raw and serene, inviting the listener into a state of contemplation and liminality. Mastered by Kri at Audio Valve with original photography and design by Basilisk. Download it for free in MP3/FLAC/WAV or buy it on CD direct from Ektoplazm: http://www.ektoplazm.com/2010/mukti-amida
  7. Nothing yet, but I will need beta testers when the time comes it might be a while, though. I am very busy with university
  8. That was my first reaction to the news but I don't think it would be the right thing to do. Psynews would no longer be Psynews if it became the forum I am currently working to develop. Besides, I like being "just a member" around here; there's no conflict of interest that way. Never applied to become a mod for the same reason. That being said, Mars and Psynews have my full support, and I am absolutely certain "the end is not yet"!
  9. Jaia for the simple reason that his output has been consistently great at all times of his career.
  10. Core is one of the best South African albums! Can I request some reviews of the new Etnoscope album here?
  11. I can't even download this with Sendspace's limits in place.
  12. This one right here: http://www.discogs.com/Various-Narcotic-Goa-Trance/release/1288533
  13. ETNOSCOPE - WAY OVER DEADLINE 01 - Odin's Kraft (130 BPM) 02 - Guitar Session (135 BPM) 03 - Twilight (140 BPM) 04 - Kaijko (142 BPM) 05 - Sunset (140 BPM) 06 - Might & Magic (140 BPM) 07 - Jävla Sladdar (135 BPM) 08 - Medieval (140 BPM) 09 - Freedom (115 BPM) 10 - Floating Feeling (70 BPM) Ektoplazm & Panzar Produktionz proudly present Way Over Deadline, the long-awaited sophomore album by legendary Swedish progressive trance pioneers Etnoscope. Founded in 2000 by Rasmus Alanne, Martin Collin, and Ludvig Engelbert, the group devised a unique and unmistakable signature sound by melding electronic music with live tribal drumming and acoustic instrumentation. Shortly after formation, Etnoscope signed with Son Kite’s infamous Digital Structures imprint and released a series of successful 12″ records before exploding onto the world stage with their critically acclaimed 2003 debut album, Drums From The Dawn Of Time (also available from Ektoplazm for free download). Now, after seven years of growing anticipation, ongoing rumours, and increasing doubt, Etnoscope emerges from hibernation with another monumental contribution to global trance-dance culture. Way Over Deadline builds on the classic Etnoscope vibe with intricate tribal drumming, powerful electronic rhythms, uplifting melodies, ethereal vocals, and infectious guitar riffs. The result is an unforgettable musical experience exploding with unrestrained positivity and authentic spirit. Professionally mastered by Colin Bennun at the Stooodio, Bristol, UK, with cover artwork and original photography by Basilisk. Download it for FREE in MP3/FLAC/WAV or buy it on CD direct from Ektoplazm, the world's #1 free psytrance portal: http://www.ektoplazm.com/2010/etnoscope-way-over-deadline
  14. It's nice, why not work to get some stuff properly released?
  15. Lucas has great taste. I'll check this out for sure.
  16. It's easy to trash GMS and IM but are there any artists from within the psytrance scene who have "gone commercial" and retained underground credibility? I nominate Ben Watkins
  17. I don't see why this is so objectionable. Protoculture is following his musical trajectory; this isn't a sudden shift in style or anything. Since day one Nate has been all about the big stadium trance sound with emotional melodies and hands-in-the-air breakdowns. It just happened to have a slight psytrance-like spin in the beginning.
  18. I can't take credit for anything other than distributing this gem It was all the work of Tsabeat and friends! Thanks for the review and keep them coming!
  19. Goa music only? No, that wasn't clear. You could have simply said "I had a change of heart" here and all would be well. Seriously though, you went from trashing free music as slavery and exploitation to releasing more free music weeks later. I don't think it is strange to wonder what the deal is.
  20. Could be project specific... he certainly has a lot of them!
