  1. It's here... It's here It sounds soooo old, so I'm happy. I don't think I've heard any of the tracks at all, but there are definetly no doubt about who's behind it. From what I've heard yet, there's stuff like both Helium and Phototropic. Okay, that's enough spoilers. If you're in doubt, and like the old albums, you might as well get this one too. It probably won't get as special a place in my heart as the other ones, but that's just because the other ones have more "history" for me -A
  2. It's possible - www.amygdala.dk/Buding I have been listening to a lot of my old stuff today, through my new Konnekt (sweet!). The four pieces at the URL are a bit more "shaky" than I remembered, because the sequencer I used back then wasn't very good. But it's there, enjoy! -A
  3. I like it a lot. A nice break from the daily hassle. I did three or four pieces like this a long time ago, and I like the simple puzzle-game atmosphere that comes to my mind. I actually ended up writing a "the aMAZEing labyrinth" game for my tracks This is very cozy music, that just seeps in, and sets a good relaxed mood. Be sure to post any new ones -A
  4. ooooh maan!! Guess what happened. I stayed up last night, had one (read five) too many beers, so now I couldn't get up this morning. I have this little note, saying that he has a package for from Psyshop, and I can get it monday. Damn. "Backfire" could have been spinning right now!! Curses to beer. -A
  5. I seriously disagree with this. The program you use has a very profound impact on the result. Even if the processing is done in the exact same way (which I find hard to believe, but...), the way a program is structured and used, dictates your workflow, which in turn dictates the result. That aside, a plugin like Z3ta+ (whatever it is), will as a matter of course sound exactly the same. It is the same code that is executed. There can be vast differences in routing, mixing, timing, and whatnot. I have neither tried Cubase or Fruity, but I'm sure there are differences. To bring up the first point, I believe that when minimal requirements are met by the tools, the interface to these tools are the main influence on the result. -A
  6. Haarh that's funny... Me too! Only I was tinking bows and arrows... Sorry for flaming the thread
  7. You need a new MIDI cable - the other-gender thingy on your cable is for "forwarding" the joystick signal, without having to remove the MIdI joystick cable from the computer. Proper MIDI cables are rather cheap. -A
  8. Uhm, I could be way of here... But money transfers to Saikosounds should end up in Japan...? -A
  9. Yep, this is certainly something. A nice break from the usual bust-a-break "music" being cranked out these days. Enveloping atmosphere, trickling sounds and smooth soundscapes. Cool -A
  10. I think that there are no concrete recipe for a good sound. If it sounds right and fits: use it. Some stuff I find useful though: - Portamento in legato mode - Phasing - Some modulaton that is not the usual filter sweeps: wavetable modulation, variable detuning, ring modulation, FM, ... - Phasing!!! -A
  11. Well, Koxbox came out on (or ahead of) time I think... I hate to be "that guy" but I've never been so disapointet by an ablum - hm, besides Ms Kittin & The Hacker. Awfull. When I opened U-Turn I expected nothing but greatness, many tracks co-written with people like Eat Static, Transwave, Mino, ... Must be good. But it's not. Koxbox was never following the time's spirit. They used to be well ahead. No more. Crap. And so I have no expectations for new Transwave stuff. Sadly. -A
  12. Sorry back Juno Reactor has gotten infinetly better at production itself, has a *lot* more original content and substance than most other out there now. If "cinematic" means "cool, vision-inducing, picturesque, elating and hypnotic" then you're right... Shaktas first albums are flat and lacks depth and spirit - and doesn't make any of my limbs move at all. With "Feed the flame" that changed instantly, and the phunk finally joined the show. MWNN - has it ever been original...? Really? I mean seriously, MWNN pretty much just sums up what had been done before, but does it with such grace and finesse and without all kinds of excessive dooads. Straight and to the point. And no tracks from him are more to the point than Axis Flip and Cocoon. Well okay, the remix of Bony Incus... And to that other guy I don't remember who was. No I'm not on drugs. -A
  13. Juno Reactor, Shakta, Syncro, Amygdala (), MWNN, and many more
  14. Yeah delays are indespensible... Unless you want to play the same sequence a lot of times after each other, slightly damped - it could be done Reverbs are neat too. I use them mostly when making music other than psytrance. But I still use oceans of reverb in there... Right now my favourite is the phaser in my new (old!) Ensoniq SQ-R. It is completely out of this world, if you use it right, and turn the right knobs on the fly. Bitcrushing is nice too, and depending on whether you see it as synthesis or effect, I luuuurve amplitude modulation -A
  15. That's a good recomendation... A tiny question though - is it really posible to "modularize" everything? Say I want an oscilator @ 8000 Hz modulating the cutoff frequency. Is it possible? Will it sound right, or as if some microprocessor is struggling to handle the very quick changes? The reason I want modular, is for doing that sort of stuff, that can't be done with standard "out-of-the-trunk" synths. My digitals even sound sluggish with a standard LFO at 20 Hz so I wonder... -A
  16. Oh man - thanks a lot, now I'm need to get yet anOTHer synth/sampler/whatever... Doesn't it ever stop?!? i guess not. I still need a decent modular system, some device capable of granular synthesis, an additive synthesizer, ...... Hmm, and then I need more time to actually use the stuff :| -A
  17. Yep, the 303 barely missed MIDI - and nothing wrong with that, that's exactly right! The oldest synth I have is from '78, and it's the true gem of my studio. I rarely use it, the oscilator is completely un-tuneable, but my god, I've had some good times with it, and it sounds great (when it holds tuning for more than a couple of seconds ) -A
  18. Aah well... One is tempted to ask, who is the bigger wanker - but then again, aren't we all. Here I am, buying a synth from 1990, that doesn't even have resonant filters, just becuase it's oscilators are capable of "Transwave-synthesis"... Geez -A
  19. Thanks, one step closer... Now, what does "POSO MALAKES EISTE RE" mean? Should I strike down with furius anger...? -A
  20. Huh, what...? What happened. I leave my thread for two miuttes, and when I come back it's ground zero of a nucular explosion... Who's GAMIAS KSENERWTWN? Dang - I'd like to know what I'm supposed to be offended about -A
  21. As it went www.ebay.de was the way to go... Thanks! I now own an Ensoniq SQR in perfect condition -A
  22. Oops, I should've been more clear. I look for an actual physical real-existing hardware synthesizer I'm a bit afraid to tell which one, because they seem really hard to come by - catch my drift? - Anywho, thanks for your replies... And how to clean a MWXT.... Hmm, dunno - a piece of moist cloth I guess. I think one of the knobs on mine came off some time ago, but I wouldn't try and take them off on purpose -A
  23. Hi guys, Where do you go about buying synths? I'm looking hard for a particular one, which is quite old. I'm searching eBay and googling like crazy, but it's hard to find older synths... Any suggestions? -A
  24. According to Moore's law, the number of transistors jammed in a certain place will have increased five-fold (cirka)... -A
