  1. Allrighty, I finally got some trance up there. For the love of Pete, will someone tell me why the quality is so bad, once the music hits myspace...? Are they doing some conversion, that I can prepare my tracks for, so they won't be so mangled? Anyway, the message gets through I guess. Enjoy - A Edit: Oh right: link-link-link
  2. Definetly not a waste! I have had the same tendency to leave scrapped projecs around for way too long, because the track just doen't really come together. Cool bits all around, but nothing conclusive. I found out that for me, it was because I had lost the playful attitude to it, and wanted all the perfect parts, all the perfect places. Only, I found out, a part can only be "perfect", if there is a context for it to be perfect in. So it's better to build up to "somewhere where something would be really sweet", and then put in something really sweet I found this out by messing with dubstep, which I knew nothing about. Regaining the playful what-if attitude, I just did stuff, instead of analyzing stuff that would eventually come to be, but didn't. - A
  3. Oh, another name that surprisingly has not been dropped yet: Excision! And of course www.myspace.com/amygdaladubstep - but I just got into it recently, so they're only feeble attempts... - A
  4. The above still stands. I couldn't find an eMail adress within ten minutes, so I figured I had better things to do - A
  5. Well, one of those two copies is the one I should have gotten! Make with it man... - I have heard a lot of the samples on the myspace, and have a soft spot for itchy repetitive noise. I thought we all did - A
  6. I still want it - sooo... Sell it to me?
  7. Nope... Great idea though. It's just *really* hard to find a good eMail adress to use. - A
  8. Hi gang, I visited Psyshop this afternoon and was extremely thrilled to see that Minusman *finally* became available in an english-speaking webshop. Great. I got home and wanted to order the CD, but all of a sudden it is unavailable. What gives?!? Is it sold out already, didn't arive in the first place, or...? Do you know any other place where I can get it? Thanks in advance Oh, and happy newyear! - A
  9. Thank you kindly! This dubstep stuff is really fun to work with... I will up some more this weekend I think, and maybe get around to do the trance page as well. Peas out, - A
  10. Hi guys, I finally got around to making one of them there hype fly myspace watchamacallits. Here it is: http://www.myspace.com/amygdaladubstep It is only dubstep for now, but I will create one for trance as well. Enjoy - A Edit: There seems to be some confusion. The dubstep and trance are split in two pages: Trance Dubstep
  11. I have never considered "The Gathering" a milestone... Of all the IM albums (except Vicious (un)delecious) it is the least interesting. I think. - A
  12. I work in Logic, so this may not apply at all, but: - When I load Absynth, I have to choose the number of channels I will use: mono, stereo or surround. Make sure you have loaded the "correct" type. - Maybe you accidently loaded a surround preset...? - A
  13. Dubstep.FM is a very good place to start. - A
  14. Is it in any english webshops...? My japanese is real rusty. - A
  15. Yeah key detection is probably too much. But I can determine the fundamental frequencies pretty easily. Maybe even chords for simple sounds - but I don't wanna do functional harmonic analysis to determine keys... That's for my ears to do I do a timeline based on seconds, samples and beats for a particualr tempo (setable or detected) - if that is what you mean...? - A
  16. Thanks - I'll reply to them each: >Pitch bending of sample with node-editing (like in Sound Forge) Done and done!! This feature is exactly why I started the project to begin with! It's a tedious bother to use soundforge, since I switched to mac years back... >Possibility to pitch bend without keeping the original tempo, a pure pitch bend of the sample - and keeping tempo (advanced timestretching algorithm preferably a choice of choosing several different algos) Both are already possible... My timestretching algo is not so great yet though. >Fade in out with exponential curves and linear with easy access Yes... But how to determine the "exponentiallity"? I try to avoid popups. >Reverse function with easy access Done >Gapper/Snipper effect (just steal it from Sound Forge) Hmmm... Yees. The version of Soundforge I used did not have that, so I will need to explore a little. I think this feature makes most sense in a realtime setting, and I already did a MIDI plugin that does this - with a nice ADSR envelope and two different ways of panning. >Resampling possibilities Got it. >Inverse stereo channels possibilities Obviously - added to the list >AU support Yes, I am thinking about that. I will come eventually, when I think of a clever way of hosting the UIs. Floating windows are not my beef. >Smooth batchfile conversion of files to different formats I already considered having a pool of open files, instead of just one. Maybe that way some batch processing can be done. >and most of all, an integration in Logic - right-click a sample (or several) and they open in the editor. Once edited and when closing the wave-editor, Logic should reload the samples. This is of course next to impossible to do, as one would have to change the Logic code itself I believe. But hey, one can always dream right? That would be so very sweet!! Right now the editor is quite lean, and can share audio resources, but logic acts funny when a file is changed behind its back. Maybe the Logic team will be open to a feature like this, just like it can open the audio device ontrol panel. >Greets from sunny Cape Town Greets from rainy Denmark - thanks! Great tunes btw - A
  17. Right, that could be useful! Maybe even combined with the beat detection feature... I think I should be able to handle that. I haven't seen it anywhere either. The ability to slow down and speedup is sort of already done. I don't have the best timestretch algorhithm there is, but it mangles the sound wonderfully, when stretching a lot I code in C++, and try to keep it as platform independent as possible. So far I only use some Apple-specific code for the timestretching, and some native types, that can be easily replaced. - A
  18. Aaah yes - that sounds good! I am planning to add VST/AU support, so when I do, I can make it possible to chain these - and possibly even save the chains, so that they can be applied to other samples... Thanks! - A
  19. Hah, I just found this deep in the pile... Yup, I finally found a Prophecy some years back. It's very good, if anyone are still interested - Naaah, who cares nowadays, what with all the great software out there. - A
  20. Yeah, I thought of that too. It is pretty neat. I could also use beat detection for other stuff as well, so I may do that... Thanks! - A
  21. Hi guys, I am developing a wave editor application. So far, I only got the basics down, but the project is coming along fine. It is reasonably fast, easy to use and extremely minimal to look at. Pure efficiency all around. The list of features is growing, but I only have my own thoughts on what would be cool. So, if you have any suggestions about whatever you can think of, post it here, and if I like it, I will put it in. I will try to have a sort of beta-release out in a month or so - mac only. A PC-version will follow shortly thereafter. So - what would be cool in a wave editor...? - A
  22. Great!! That is a very *very* good idea. Thinking outside the box... Not good for DJing though. - A
  23. Yeah, about that... Where can I buy it?!? It's not at either psyshop or saikosounds... Anywho, in order to not hijack the thread: I like Deedrah's remix of Cypher - Alternet. It works great as a nice surprise after a listening-track heavy album. - A
  24. Yay, a fellow mac user... Nice Sorry about sounding like a know-it-all, but when talking sample- and bit-rates, the process is more important than the product. During processing and internally in Audio Units, a higher samplerate is beneficial. Better resolution means less damage to the signal, and almost any kind of processing can be considered "damaging" for the signal. So, even if you end up with a signal in 44.1 kHz as an end product, you should still seek to keep as good a resolution as possible in the process. This is regardless of the type of input signal (natural, synth, ...). The most dramatic change though is bit-depth. 16 bit is a bad starting point, since Audio Units always work in 32-bit. You might as well enjoy the rest of the dynamic space I can see, if you are stressed for computational power, then higher samplerates are kind of a sore point, but switching to 24 (or even 32) bit should mean no extra computational cost, since AUs are 32 bit only - depending on your host... Logic? If you use Logic you have no excuse. Of course, don't know if you are using 16 bit sampling or not.... Yup, Absynth is my absolut favourite! Massive is good too, although I haven't really begin using it. Shame on me, but Absynth just has so endlessly many possibilities... - A
