  1. i never liked flux and i've tried a lot to like that album not because its ambient, but because the material is flat and boring, the songs are just not that good or interesting and i can listen to drone music for hours, so it has nothing to do with my music taste
  2. i'm reading psynews since the beginning and registrated in 2010, but i never posted a thing until 2024 but i was reading everything and discovered a lot of fantastic music trough the years because there isn't a lot of acitvity the last years, i decided it's time to start posting better late then never! over here (belgium) we are very lucky with parties, all were less than 50 km near my house there were (and still are, but less) parties every weekend with a lot of big names, i went (sometimes i could go on my bike) to acts as dimension 5, chi-ad, asia 2001, astral projection, hallucinogen, xenomorph, ka-sol, texas faggot, osom, kindzadza, x-dream, ubar tmar, ra, kox box, crossing mind, procs, infected mushroom, ... 20 years ago there were never ending party weekend with acts like that every weekend, insane if you think about it, sometimes i went to a party friday night, saturday morning to other party in a forest and then saturday to the last party untill sunday afternoon.......all with great acts..or great dj's we were very lucky over here with a lot of people who organised a lot of parties. now i release how lucky i was to be part of that time of partying....and also lucky that i survived that period😀
  3. can't remember which songs, but it was more some psychedelic elements, not guitar power chord riffs, it didnt contribute a lot to the sound, but it was cool i talked with graham franklin after their live set and he couldn't stop talking about progressive rock and space rock and his radio show about that kind of music. so interessting that you make a link with dimension 5 and that kind of psychedelic old school music🙂 some more photo's
  4. this picture is rom the show in antwerp i was talking about in the post above the only time i saw them live with 4 members
  5. yes, i agree, i don´t find etnica/pl/cc unlistenable, far from it, but the production of a lot of their work is too harsh when you are in a psychedelic state, in another state it isn't a big issue because i like their work (until 2000) so much, and thank you for mentioning the katana's, my next trip is going to be a bad one 😁im going tot have the feeling that the music is going to chop my head of talking about family of light, of course it's a disappointment after ifo because that album was so special and psychedelic, one of the true classics family of light has less quality songs, less psychedelic elements and les story telling its still a good album, still much better than lot's of random goa trance albums, but not a classic
  6. some cool melodies, music is not overloaded, just feel good goa music only the 303 acid lines sounds a bit the same and too much repetition, a bit more tweaking next time hanven't seen his live act yet, but i certainely will see him at some party or festival this year
  7. it's becoming better and better add some spice (some sparkling 303) in the middle of your song, to koop the flow going and i would add some atmospherique sounds to make it more rich and more of a psychedelic feeling and i recommend learning to play some piano or keyboards, that's so useful, you don't have to be able to play the goldverg variations from bach, but you understand what i want to say..
  8. film industry lost its innocence? disgusting zombies at the oscars? our civizilation is commeting suicide? hollywood is helping with this suicide? black guy is not a victim? but the most disturbing element of your post: you like lethal weapon 3? really?
  9. i was only joking about that a lot of songs are generic and sounds the same🙂 but allmost everybody uses ideas of another person in music, that's normal, that's evolution but this case of Goch is not plagiarism and is not illegal, an artist can release the same song under other names, since spotify it's happening more and more with acts and bands..the philisophy is that you have a bigger chanche to get attention to you band and recieve revenue, i've read an article about it in a music magazine, strategies to get more listens but on the long term, i think, it's a very stupid strategy
  10. of all the goa trance albums ever made, this is my favorite one of all time almost 25 years ago i heard it for the first time...and it changed my life for me it's perfection: the melodies, the atmosphere, the story told through the album, i also like the kicks and percussion, the samples are perfect....and i can listen to the album every day and it always brings back memories and total happiness....every month i listen to it and it always does the trick i also remember the first time they played in belgium with a reunion for the re-release of this album...it was at a party in antwerp in 2008, with kerry palmer, graham franklin and if i remember correct they even brought nick wenham who was sitting in a chair at the stage doing nothing...i remember talking with kerry palmer about this album and how i loved it and he was very friendly, and talking with graham franklin about bands from the 60's and 70's and his radio show about that kind of music.........it was a night to remember forever for me dimension 5 are the absolute gods of goa trance togheter with etnica/pleaidians
  11. ah metal i wrote for several magazines (in dutch) for 15 years, wrote more than 1500 album reviews, visited a lot of concerts and did interviews with all the big bands.....metal always been part of my life, besides goa trance next month i'm going to see napalm death again, with pig destroyer, wormrot en primitive man i like 90's metal the most because of the fact that i like extreme metal the most: legendary death, black and doom bands made excellent albums that decade just as goa trance, for me, the 90's were the best period for metal with the most exciting music in the 80's you did have legendary thrash acts and early death metal albums, but the 90's DAMN three exemples of excellent metal albums, a death metal album, a black metal album and a doom classic Death - Human Satyricon - Volcano My Dying Bride - Turn Loose The Swans
  12. wachted my favorite movies of all time again midsomnar really interesting movie that makes you think, psychedelic too and i totally dig the atmosphere and vibe i'm really jealous of all people who haven't seen this movie
  13. the whole internet = 5 people who visit psynews forum in 2024 😉
  14. a lot of electronic music acts make the same song everytime, only the title changes there are even electronic music labels where all the artists on the roster make the same songs every time
  15. interesting topic, my viewpoint on your four topics: 1. who cares about big names? a lot of people maybe, but for me the best music (jazz, electronic music,...) is made by smaller or almost unknown people, people that dont make money with their music and that are never will become known by even a small group of people, from psytrance to black metal, from hardcore punk to modern orchestral music, in every genre you have music acts that polish their music and make it more generic to have succes, but you also have real artists in every genre, and both are fine, if people are happy listening to dojo cat or to cheesy full on psytrance, that's a good thing for those people, if people want to listen to obscure power noise records, that is also fine, but there is still a lot of quality music als in the psychedelic trance world, to stay on topic, but in every music genre it's the same 2. you have always have people that take their time to watch, read or listen to a piece of art, and you have people that are not, i can watch three hours in a gerhard richter exhibition to one painting (drives my wife mad), and you have people that only watch 1 second to a painting.....both is fine, whatever makes a person happy...i also think that people take less time for something just because there is so much to choose from....but that is also a choice, i have never possesed a cell phone in my life and i never will, this forum is the most modern thing i do, because i dont like distraction, i like to live in the moment, doing one thing, and when i listen to music, i always do that in the dark with my eyes closed, so i can really listen 3. whatever you like, thats a classic for you, it doens't matter what other people think, i only read reviews to discover new music, other peoples opinion just don't matter, i do not care what kind of albums other people like, i only listen to what i think are the best albums and songs in the world 4. there are still albums being made with a story, but my adivice is, make your own album (or playlist) with your own chosen songs from all different acts, create your own journey the point i wanna make: psychedelic trance is about complete freedom of thinking
  16. i know the dunbar number theory and that new research say that it can be more that 150 people,,,,but i think 150 people his too much i believe it is less than that, i also don't believe in good functioning communities, but thats another discussion on topic: good concept and titel for a xenomorph album, 'the dunbar number theory'
  17. the best moment in goa trance is not one song or one part of a song it is the moment where you forget everything and you become the music, and that can happen everyday (at a party or at home), that's the power of goa trance
  18. i don't have the vinyl so i can't say a thing about that, but i know the eight songs my top three are: 1. morphic resonance: i like all three of his albums, the first one was the most in your face one, pure power and energy, it is what it is, and its FIRE, just let the hardware go! and dont spend 1000 hours on perfecting a song in cubase, like his attitude and this is one of his better songs 2. asura vs aes dana: memories of parties in belgium at 10 o clock in the morning, nostalgia 3. khetzal - gather your herds: its total cheesy, over the top, too happy, naive BUT it works and makes me happy, it does the trick, have seen him live with his violin doing downtempo and uptempo sets, always fun always been a suntrip fan, like the most of their releases, i can still remember when they released their first album and when they and there friends organised their first party, they really started a revival (and a chanche to see a lot of legendary acts at small parties)
  19. qlippoth was an album that i had to listen to a lot before i liked it, it's for me his most dark and strange work, but i love it now cassandra is an absolutely dark old school goa trance classic, one of the best and a lot of people i now they all say that Demogoguery is a commercial album (vocals, guitar, melodies) but i don't agree, it's a very special album in the psytrance history, i like the artwork, the lyrics, the atmosphere,...not very psychedelic, but very interesting xenomorph is one of the lonely acts from the 90's that didn't change his sound (full on beat, stupid climaxes,...), so he could play on festivals for bigger audiences i have seen him live performing ten years ago or something like that with a leather dress on, and people (so called open minded hippies) were nagging about his clothes and look, never understood that, that people at a psy party were talking negative about someones appereance
  20. i like, but not love, the triquetra album, it has something raw (not over produced) but the melodies just don't do the trick for me personally, i can't lose my mind to it, i cant explain triquetra's live act at parties is always exciting by the way, more exciting than their albums, so if you like them so much, you certainely have to see them on a party or festival, nice people and they are still young, so there will be much more music i think the coming years
  21. i think 2023 was a disappointing year in psytrance / down tempo the new albums of down tempo acts like asura, cbl, aes dana, benji vaughn, .. were all ok, but certainly not as good as their older stuff...nothing really special that contributed somthing new to the genre up tempo: only 1 album that i really liked and will still like in 2034, and that was morphic resonance - extrasensory perception the acid lines! the dark sound! the vibe! (= lets go motherfuckers! party time!) the rawness and pureness of his sound
  22. big xenomorph fan over here, i like all his stuff, he has made three different albums (i always like that artists don't repeat themself) that are very good new songs sound good, just as his other suntrip work on various albums exicted for the new album, finally happening this year
  23. rip i once had a long talk with him at a party where he played, a talk about music and about life in general, i will never forget that now i have no choice, to play same dimension 5 tonight, always liked their music very much, space keyboards, some 303 lines and a real trance feeling, ideal music for dancing
