  1. Just ordered this off psyshop... will DL in the meantime, as the samples sound absolutely incredible. Cannot wait to hear it.
  2. I can't really give a full review here... because I can't stop listening to Taz's amazingly enchanting vocals on tracks 1 and 3 of this album. I am simply knocked off my feet by how gorgeous it is, and how powerful the lyrics are (particularly in the first track). From the times I have actually listened to the album in full, I would give it an overall 8/10, but 10/10 to tracks one and three, they are incredibly powerful, and show hope for a new sub-genre in and of itself... electro-folk
  3. No pressure! I will just listen to your previous albums some more and daydream a bit... thanks for responding so quick, also, and for sending that overcompressed master back to whoever screwed it up. We all want this one to sound as good as possible, and if it takes a little patience then so-be-it. Cheers
  4. Any news on this release? After hearing the new songs I am very excited to hear what this album will offer... keep us posted
  5. Fantastic full-on dance album... something that reached out to me even though I am not a huge fan of the full-on. Lovely melodies and very well produced. For what it offers (that is, nothing entirely groundbreaking, but still very much footstomping), I would easily give this album 8.5/10, reaching for 9.
  6. After seeing all the conversation in this forum.. I was really worried... all these artists, a label I really want to support, and a CD I can't afford... then I got to this last page of posts and see the good news. I will be purchasing this album with the money from my next check, and amazing job of working with your customers Zen... oh, and thank you! :posford:
  7. Ott - all his stuff Kuba - How the Future Sounded Androcell - pretty much everything, his music ranges from ambient to psy to dub and sometimes all 3 at once Those three are easily my favorite psy-dub artists, and I highly recommend them all
  8. Psychedelic music, drugs, phenomena... how has it changed our lives? I know this forum doesn't like drugs even though the moderators all take them, so let's all avoid direct references... I would start, but for now I'll see if this topic is allowable...
  9. Lots of these recommendations are pretty hardcore psy---I started off where you did so I thought I'd give some more recommendations a little more on the dub side... -Androcell / Distant System - Emotivision, Efflorescence / Spiral Empire -Ott - Skylon, Hallucinogen in Dub and Blumenkraft (in no particular order) -Kuba - How the Future Sounded (this album hasn't got a lot of attention on these forums but is incredible... released this year) -OOOD - Free Range -Sundrops - Lights in Motion (last two are definitely psytrance but still on the lighter side) -Phutureprimitive - Subconscious Shulman, Talpa, M.E.E.O, Seahorse Transform, Slackbaba.... the list goes on... I'll stop there because it takes long enough to actually listen to all this and decipher what you really enjoy. Cheers.
  10. This entire thread would make a fantastic 3 disc (or so) chilled out set... loving it :clapping:
  11. Ott - Queen of All Everything. Clearly.
  12. Nonononono.... Cheers to you, for creating one of the most coherent soundscapes of all time, something that rivals the imagination sparked by any great novel or film, withing saying (hardly) a word. Simply groundbreaking, and I truly thank you for what you do with both Distant System and Androcell. I can't even comprehend how you do it... but again, thank you.
  13. I have only given this a listen, and am now on my 2nd time through... loving it. Definitely something I would buy, but always being very broke, I recently was able to grab it off of www.ektoplazm.com where it has been released for free, along with Flights of Infinity. Droolingly good psytrance... and typically stuff this heavy isn't even my style...
  14. OOOD - Free Range... whole album for the first time... awesome....
  15. I'll add more props for this album so maybe it gets some added attention from people tired of all the 2008 releases It's definitely not psytrance, but it's a wonderful chill-out album and has made it to my sleep play-lists for sure... some favorites are Igamatik, Nightwalker and A Whole New Way of Looking at Things (gotta love those Easy Rider soundtracks, especially with Jack Nicholson's voice sounding so much like GW Bush and his name in the movie being George )
  16. Distant System - Spiral Empire is one of my favorite ambient albums of all time.. Asura - Life Squared is a killer one Phutureprimitive - Subconscious definitely is worth a listen as well, and of course the classic ambient album by The KLF - Chill Out... There are more that I can think of but these ones really stand out in my collection
  17. There is a quote from Goa Gil which really puts into words the way that I was feeling about this music, and I can't say it any better so here it is... "We are sitting by the holy fire in Anjuna beach, Goa. The good thing about when we did come here and it was untouched, was that we created a lifestyle which was the best of the East and the West. We developed the concept of redefining the ancient tribal rituals for the 21st century and tried to use the party situation to uplift people’s consciousness through the trance-dance experience. It's nothing new, every tribal group since beginning of time has been practicing this thing. You know, use music and dance to evoke the cosmic spirit, and everyone would be rejuvenated and healed by that, and the earth also. We developed a similar idea that would be acceptable to the youth of today."

    Ott - Skylon

I don't know how Skylon got all the way to page 3.... Queen of All Everything is the most beautiful song I've ever heard, and even though the intro track is gives the exact same feel of Blumenkraft's intro I think there is still a lot of credit due here. This album is musically diverse, and songs like Shower of Sparks and Queen of All Everything are extraordinary tracks even to people who don't like electronica I've showed them to. Ott pushes musical boundaries, and that's what electronic music is all about... getting shivers listening to Queen of All Everything right now it's so beautiful... It's like Ott decided to give the world a big hug... so soothing...
  19. +1000000.... Also, in terms of genre definitions with electronic I'm not all that great.... besides that the names just confuse things... ambient, psy trance.. psytrance, psybient.... who really is the one who gets to label these types of music? and do the labels really matter? I guess my point is that these guys have broken off from anything in music that's been done before and they are using giant magnets to mess with our brains, and that's freakin awesome... much better than any kind of music crying about being alone or serenading a loved one... they just want to help us to journey inside our minds. Someone said I make it sound like the second coming, and, honestly, anything that allows us to have psychedelic experiences really does help us to open our reality to a whole new world, wouldn't the acceptance of another reality, or a connection between body and soul really be somewhat of 'second coming'? I don't think the bible is trying to tell us another Jesus is gonna come and save us all... the metaphor very well could be opening ourselves to a new spiritual dimension. Anyways, I don't wholeheartedly subscribe to what I just said, but I think there is definitely "more to reality..." and this music, whatever label you put on it, points us in that direction, no doubt.
  20. Now I'm not a true old schooler like a lot of the people who post here, so I can't name most of what has been posted here, but is no one else amazed by Ott? His music trumps even Posford's works in my books... Anyways, I think if the world was ending I would put on the most trip-tastic set of all time, and just melt into the walls (I have thought about this before, actually... sitting there at a show, thinking the world could end at that moment and it'd be just fine, I would just sink into the universe...) Well, here are a few of my picks. - The whole of Spiral Empire, really... thinking about the next life in space Phutureprimitive - Elysium Is it just me or is Phutureprimitive perfect sex music? Can't forget to have sex before the world ends.... There is so much more... I think the end of the world set would have to last at least a week....
  21. Thank you! I really think there is something here... I imagine most of the people that post in this forum have felt it, all in their own ways... but particularly the artists. Considering your request here I wont even say Ott's response when I asked him what it was that he tapped in to when bringing his music to the world... Anyhoo... lots of psychedelic music feels almost ritualistic at this point, yet at the same time it's a genre which is, to me, at the front lines of this battle of subscribing to the system versus retaining our humanity... the music itself is almost criminalized by it's almost inherent association with psychedelia... makes me think of the sample in Hallucinogen/In Dub "if we go in we might learn something they don't know... and that makes us a little out of their control..."
  22. Too much Aphex Twin, buddy... you know he'll drive you crazy, right? Listening to Spiral Empire right now... some of the most brilliant music ever...
  23. Alright, so I have been listening to music from this genre for more than a few years now... and I have but a few posts on this forum, though I have been reading it for quite a while, respecting the tastes of the frequent members and the overall expanse to my collection of psychedelic music.... Now I'm not a fan of the straight dark-psy nor the competition for the highest BPM possible that a lot of artists seem to subscribe to---it's really too much, and in some sense, it really is too dark. What I am fascinated by much, much more is the "light" side of psychedelic music I don't see people talking about much... How this music opens up one's mind (particularly under the influence...) to beautiful psychedelic experiences, perhaps only seen by those who are members of indigenous cultures of the past. My question here, even my hypothesis... are we opening our reality to an expanded sense of consciousness particularly accessible through the use of hallucinogens? Humankind has been doing it for a long, long time, and from what I've experienced, this music is a big f*cking deal... I've never journeyed like when I've tripped listening to albums like Hallucinogen in Dub or Tales of the Inexpressible.... it's unreal. It disturbs me when people say things like "Simon is God," but at the same time, it's undeniable that these people have tapped into something beyond our comprehension, no? Well.... just some thoughts, hope to hear yours, as these kinds of things are the stresses of our times, imo. Peace and love, -Harrison
  24. The 2008 review forum has 1624 replies at this point.. 132 (133 including my post now) are attributed to this album alone... Distant System has opened us to a new dimension of audial space, never before imagined.... all I can do is offer a standing ovation to one of those experiences in life that just knocks me off my feet... this is one of those albums that can only bring the response of "holy s***" as far as I'm concerned... bow down, the next generation of psychedlic music is here. 10/10.
  25. I thought I'd bump this thread just because I think this album shows an incredible amount of originality, and is just plain fun to listen to. Even though the songs are supposedly about 'dark' things it still has almost a comic book feel to it, but also makes me want to dance... really interesting stuff, and well worth the time spent listening. I'll be getting Talpa's first album based on the strength this one, most definitely.
