I really do strongly suggest Waking Life. I was a wee stoner at the age of 16 and I'm pretty sure that's about when I saw it for the first time... really made me think differently about things. Up In Smoke is great too, but I think it'd have less life value for your friend. Here is the trailer... These two are by far my favorite shows on the air today. The plot of Dexter, particularly the first season, is well crafted and morally ambiguous, which is cool. Fringe... well, Fringe had me at heavy doses of psychedelics in sensory deprivation tanks for the main character IN THE FIRST FEW EPISODES! Such a damn good show, and the current season is phenomenal.

It's a very well scripted action movie with a Christopher Nolan twist. Worth every dime/second spent.
