Usually agree with you on everything but, here, I respectfully disagree. I think Universe 13 is a fantastic track. I see little details everywhere and the ambience is so alien that it makes me wonder where in the universe did the Pleiadians make this - Universe 13 perhaps? Whatever is the case, its a very story-telling track. I think this album is in the top tier what goatrance achieved in the 90's, up there with the other classics like Shakta - Silicon Trip, Hallucinogen - Twisted, Crop Circle - Tetrahedron and I.F.O. It's impossible to deny that. I think F.O.L. just got more crap than usually because it was the follow up of the most beloved album in the whole Goa-trance history and didn't completely live up to the hype/name because the style changed a little. Edit: I need to add some of these basslines are so cool. They aren't typical hitting basslines, but dimm and dark that just make the atmosphere that much more darker. Moon In Your Window is just amazing here, the way it rolls and revs like an engine. So cool.

PharaOm - Awakening Bodhisattva EP (UAFR003)

That 1st track is a gem. The last 2 ain't bad, although not very exciting either, but that 1st one, really, really good. -
Moon (2009) is up there, what a beautiful mashup of 2001: A Space Odyssey & Solaris with a 5 million dollar budget.

Are there any Videos existing of Etnica/Pleiadians/CropCircle performing live pre-2000? Or interviews for that matter... -
Heh, rghost.. Tracklist looks good, will take a listen! And for single file or split files, I have no idea, I've only heard single file mixes till now. Edit: Hm I like this split approach, it's not a hassle to find out who's track which was lol

Add E-Mantra to the list.

Some of my impressions after listening the first 6 tracks. E-Mantra - Arcana manages to create awesome extremely spacey soundscapes, and landscapes, and has a ton of little details which make the experience that much more rich and golden, oh, I forgot to mention that the sounds used in this album are unique, some of which I think I have never heard before. It's amazing what kind of sounds E-Mantra has found and incorporated here. The main soundflows (as instead of main melodies, the general direction of sounds and themes) are extremely nice with those unique and beautiful spacey sounds. This is really a voyage to outer space, no doubt about it. You feel like you're flowing through vast, beautiful space. An album which is unlike anything released in a while that manages to create hope that there's still a possibility of getting back the old-school way of experimenting and creating amazing sonic journeys. I do have a complain though, E-mantra's style has a major weak spot and it's the repetition. It's that typical E-Mantra sound that I hear in every track here, I think it's the pace; the tempo and bassline stays the same. While it creates the workspace and ambiance needed for everything else, there is not enough variance, it's the same in every track. I wouldn't mind it as much if he had something to counter it with more often, I.E. more emphasis on the highs to distract, or just something to throw it off(See: Shamanistic Rituals 6:30->, War Of The Hierophants 4:05->). Very good way to show this problem off is just plainly skip the tracks in 1 minute spaces, it's almost frustrating. Now this complain might not be universal, as in a lot of people think the same, but to me it's pretty big and holds this releases quality some-what back, unfortunately. That being said, it's not a deal breaker, this album is an amazing piece in the new-school-era.. no, in the whole goa-trance-era. A Must have. My on-board audio made this album sound worse than it is. With the soundcard this recording is BIG.

Was there any hope to begin with? It's been almost a decade after the death of goatrance and 6 years after it's supposed rebirth(Sky Input year to me) and where are we at? ~20 Goa-trance albums a year. That number is laughable..
-
Yes yes yes!

Very true. Amanians was a great example of darker goa but Mike A(subra, owner of cronomi) said they have stopped writing music. Another different style of goa is Artha, looking forward to that. I do wonder about this, I've listened to it a billion times. Really awesome music..

Maybe because so little of it is being released. Filteria - Daze Of Our Lives Afgin - Astral Experience Merr0w - Born Underwater E-Mantra - Arcana Radical Distortion - Psychedelic Dreams Blue Planet Corporation - A Blueprint For Survival Cosmosis - Retro Volume 1 & 2 California Sunshine - Dark Side Of The Brain V/A - Nitz-ho-goa V/A - Suncokreti V/A - The Sitting Goddes V/A - People Walk Funny V/A - Artificial Sun V/A - Pure Planet 3 V/A - Alternative Colours V/A - Ya Wichna V/A - Organic Vision V/A - Art From The Heart + a few I may have missed. That is not a whole lot of goa-trance for 1 year to be frank, not to mention this year has had the most goa-trance releases of the decade I believe(Not 100% sure, I haven't dont much counting).
-
I'm sorry but... what? California Sunshine - Oblivion Chi-Ad - Sight Of The Sages Virtuart & Chronomyst - Zanchin Ra - Gateway Eight Filteria - Back To Earth I don't see how you can't recall any of those tracks.. Radical Distortion have no clue about music? Uhh.. There's this thing called taste. I find RD's music fun trippy and danceable and that's what I expected. You want the old complexity, well Suntrip isn't exactly the man for the job, but what they do release(New school goa-trance), is quality. I really don't see an artist like MFG and Pleiadians coming to this scene in a long while, if ever. We're past that, unfortunately. You're expecting a rebirth of the old complex goa-trance..
-
Apparently these are indeed from back in the day. Anoebis's reply was this "They are ripped from a DAT from a French dj in 99" Man, that's just weird how something like this would go unnoticed..
-
Suntrip is like a drug to the melodic Goa trance lovers. They really brought the spirit back. I am too a fanboy, I was from the day I first heard Sky Input lol.
