    Ethereal - Anima Mundi

This is the best album of 2003 that I've heard. Also the only. The best track is #2, "Cosmic Lobster". Nice build up, good use of samples, great sound altogether. Track #3 is next best, then maybe #1. The weaker tracks are #4, #5, and #7 (weaker doesn't mean they are bad, just that they aren't as good as the others). In summa this album is pure crap and if you are unlucky enough to have a copy you should PM me about getting it off your hands for dirt cheap. PS - Goa Head do you have this album I am really looking for a high quality rip.

What I meant was I don't remember anything good or bad about the tracks. I can't remember making any mental notes about any of the tracks. After I listen to an album a few times I usually remember the best and/or worst tracks from it amongst other things. This album I just don't remember much of anything about, which indicates it was neither something especially good nor something really crappy. All I can really remember after 10 listens is: "very powerful and high production quality, but the music doesn't go anywhere (build) or intensify. I remember there is an intro & outro and one track is called Predator, though nothing about this track. The intro had a cool sample." To contrast, I have recently heard the Ethereal album only a couple times and I remember way more about that: "Best track is #2 (builds best & best sample use), then #3 (more atmospheric). Track 1 is a little boring, 4 is boring and 6 is slower. Nice oldschool sound, the tracks build very effectively & use samples very well, weaker tracks are in the middle (4-5) & maybe the last track. Near complete tracklisting: all systems are go (expand cons. remix), cosmic lobster, distant lights (03 mix), cosmic lobster (dreamweaver mix), don't remember, radiator, elysian fields."
  4. -100 I'm not banned and I've never left this board before. :drama:
  5. That is BS. Greater minds may get bored with petty things such as music that lacks creativity & genius.

I agree with pawelek. Even though I listened to this 10+ times and it's a nice release, the best from Suntrip probably, I cannot remember a single track from it. Note that I think the same of To Sirius as I cannot really remember it right now even though I listened to that many times too! The problem with this is it lacks epicness/direction. These tracks seem to pick up melodies but never take them the full way, and just float in from one melody to another. It seems like it does not build up to anything. In comparison, I think Transdimensional is near a perfect release. There is a 100% point to every track on Transdimensional and every track I can remember from hearing it the first couple times. However in this album I feel no point/direction to the tracks. Tracks these days are just too generic. Nobody is taking a chance doing something big enough that might end up being a classic. There are some nice melodies but they don't build / aren't coordinated.
  7. My criteria for good music isn't just music that makes people dance like crazy or smile. There are millions of psytrance parties that accomplish that equally as well. Play something by Tiesto and you're set! For myself at least it's impossible to comprehend the music while your dancing around, you're just hearing one or two most distinct levels of the sound at best. This is why modern psytrance can get away with only having a couple layers and sounding like shit.
  8. Using the same instruments still allows room for creativity. I am amazed listening to good oldschool albums, I am always hearing tracks with really unique elements and melodies and styles. But when I listen to this new goa trance I feel nothing unique about it, it's just got better production, other than that it's all generic sounding. I don't listen to this crap. People can say there are masterpieces of anything but that's in their own views and most people usually have poor taste, especially so in this age. Good thing? Maybe it should have just died. I have 500 CDs of oldschool goa I don't need new ones just for the sake of keeping something alive. This is like goa trance in the hospital hooked up to machines to be kept alive. What for? If it's lost it's strength it's best to let it go rather than produce sickly music. And goa trance apparently. Congrats. He sounds like a nut.
  9. Nobody is asking for more in the style of Etnica but a new style; this was already done!
  10. Umm no. Goa Trance can be whatever you want it to be. If you think it has to follow a formula derived of the common element between all past Goa Trance then you will arrive at something with no creativity. If changing this formula results in something other than Goa Trance then it's unfortunate you guys make these stupid genres and it should be dead (but I think there's room for creativity yet). I agree the Suntrip albums lack creativity.
  11. They're all rated high enough anyways who cares?
  12. LOL. This is the annoying asshole who re-lists his sale items every day so they show up on the message of new wanted items for sale. He also sends PMs trying to convince me to pay 100EUR for some rare item he's selling, including lines like "don't miss out on this great deal". And he has poor communication/service after you buy something and can't read/write english properly. "Big respect"? Another of his lines... yea right! Stop treating people like idiots, it betrays your utter lack of respect for them beyond getting their money.
  13. More on topic... I don't really like IFO because the sound is very messy. It's complex but the layers aren't really arranged to work together. The tracks change around a bunch throughout but it never really go anywhere. I cannot understand the story of the tracks, they seem more like just making noise for the sake of it to me.
  14. I see albums on the stack not listed so how is that the full list?
  15. Zero relevance whatsoever. Nope I've never met these people. Congrats for you. Why do you care what he laughs at? Can't you back your argument with something other than "OMGZ LOOK AT ALL DES PPL DAT LAUGH AT GOA TRANCE HAHAHAHAHA"? "Discrimination is bad. All genres are created equal." -- Is that what you're trying to say? For the third time now I never said it did. Quit beating on those poor straw men. Whoa... talent and power? You have some major problems if you think these must be lumped together. I won't deny it's a powerful track. I'm not a fan of Electra, it's not that good of a track IMO, but I still think it's complexity is very high and, even if it isn't very creative, it probably required more talent to create.
  16. Many of you are basically saying you rate music by how it makes you feel emotionally. Personally I agree with a few things said. I like music to tell a story, and a realistic one at that. It should build towards a goal. It shouldn't just serve to put me in a state of bliss. I like depth, creativity, originality, etc.
  17. Megaupload doesn't delete the files sometimes 2 years later. I have no need for a toolbar to use it....
  18. Anything can be considered 1 layer. If you press 2 piano keys you are making 2 different sounds, but it sounds like 1.
  19. Is this guy kagdila74 on discogs??
  20. Use EAC. The drive configuration can be complicated... the default configuration probably isn't correct.
  21. Rough subgenre group -> artist -> year -> title. I have a good memory & generally remember all the years and my favorite tracks from every release.
  22. I think the piano should be thought of as multiple layers. You can press up to 10 (or more?) keys at once. It's a different type of music though. Nobody would be impressed if someone imitated a piano song in electronic music because they aren't sitting there furiously pushing piano keys, there is so much more potential.
