  1. I'm pumped - they are playing in my hometown! We rarely get psytrance acts and rarely still get good ones - check psytribe.com for ticket info
  2. Ok great - thanks! I checked them out and it looks like they're all even more dead than this forum and isratrance - looks like it's just a tiny genre!
  3. I only know of this one and isratrance.com - both are basically dead, so far as I can tell - I remember back in the early 2000's people were posting all sorts of album reviews and so forth, and now there's just very little going on here or at isratrance - it's like the same 10 people posting and whatnot! Is there some other major forum for psy/goa? I'm mostly looking for a place that has album reviews.
  4. I'll agree with some of that critique about this album and other new school goa albums - the lack of a really defining melody or structure which ties the tracks together - instead a lot of pleasant melodic goings-on but nothing that makes the track memorable or really brings it to a proper build up/breakdown.. The title track though "Patience for Heaven" is a stormer - this one really uncorks and that main melodic breakdown is spectacular and very memorable.. The other tracks I like, but unless I have them on headphones I find it hard to remember what exactly sets them apart..
  5. Highlights for me - I became a Neo-Goa lover! I opened my mind and got converted - love the Mindsphere album and really dig the Crossing Mind. (also really like some pre-2012 albums but this is the 2012 thread). Ra - "Unearthly" is fantastic also. Other highlight - the progressive trance abums! The Atmos album "604" was a progressive highlight for me - very good release, nice diversity of styles, and the remixes are good too. Solar Fields - "Random Friday" - would have competed for my abum of the year with the Mindsphere album if not for the Beat Bizarre album. Love this album - Solar Fields is such a master, and this album is sublime. Album of the Year 2012 - Several lovely albums this year, but, hand's-down, my Album of the Year is Beat Bizarre - "Mukharv" "Mukharv" feels like a new concept in progressive psychedelic - sounds like nothing else out there. It is so well executed and even though it is way up on the psychedelia, the beats and rhythms are so fat and groovy that my friends who don't even like trance music thinks it's badass. Huge amounts of style, mindblowing hypnotic, super danceable - love it!
  6. Starting to get into this album much more - the title track "Patience for Heaven" is fantastic! Like "Ornamentation" a lot too..
  7. I hear ya man - I live in SoCal and have had to search out the goa/psy scene - I'm down in Orange County which barely does electronica, let alone goa. Psytribe is the call, and Greensector used to put on some good forest parties.. Come to the Lightening in a Bottle festival this May down here in Irvine - there's no real goa or psytrance there, but there is some good electronica of other sorts there, and a great Burning-Man-esque atmosphere..
  8. Right on - haven't heard any E-mantra except the track on the Erta Ale compil which is great - seems that "Arcana" got better reviews than "Pathfinder" though no? Will check out the Nova Fractal album
  9. Just to update this - I'm very much enjoying Artifact303 "Back to Space" - listen to it quite a bit. Also finding very tasty tracks on the Erta Ale compil. Have given the Mindsphere "Patience for Heaven" album a couple spins and don't yet get the hype - but will listen more while paying closer attention.
  10. I can't believe how good the new Beat Bizarre album is ("Mukharv") - maybe my favorite progressive album ever - def right up near the top! I'd post a review but dunno how to do the GIF's and such It's sort of in the Atmos - "Headcleaner" style where the emphasis is on mesmerizing/entrancing the listener. It's even more hypnotic than "Headcleaner" though - never thought I'd say that about an album.. The tracks are long and the loops are played for quite awhile - he builds in layers in such a killer way - hard to describe, I'm not really good at reviews. I do know there is so much intelligence, creativity, and psychedelic in this music though. No bad tracks, each one is a rich journey. I love how fat and groovy the beats and rhythms are also - this would work great on the dancefloor and for home listening it just doesn't get any better than this if you're into some seriously mind-melting trance music. I've listened to these tracks numerous times now and they get better each time I do - some albums sound great at first play but don't have the substance to last - this one though is like a fine wine..
  11. Well, in terms of genres it is exceptional because it's a good concept - the progressive chill thing. But I just don't hear a whole bunch of creativity in the music - as an album it plays it all very safe - so it's an album I enjoy but it's not really etching itself into my memory as something that stands out..
  12. Melodic goa and coffee for me too this morning - Artifact303 "Back to Space" and "Blue Moon UK Sampler"
  13. I would have voted "Movements" for sure until recently - "Random Friday" really flips my switches..
  14. I downloaded mine from iTunes.. Been 7 years since their last album - this one seems like they put a ton of work into it..
  15. Sadly, most of the people I introduce goa/psytrance to don't like it - I live in the USA and we get a lot of cheesy mainstream music - most people are too square for goa in my opinion - goa/psytrance taps into the shamanic dimensions of the mind, and I think the squares are freaked out by it.. And then others, who do like electronica, sometimes don't like the psytrance stage when we are at festivals and parties together, because the beat is too fast (and usually I agree in that environment - I'd rather go dance to some house or breakbeats or whatever - unless its an actual goa/psy artist that I like playing)
  16. Yea man I'm loving this new Beat Bizarre - so many heavy trippy tracks - "Anatomic Bomb" is spectacular! Massive amounts of style in this album - the beats and rhythms are so badass.
  17. Atmos - "604" Beat Bizarre - "Mukharv" V/A - "Erta Ale"
  18. The new Atmos album sounds great at first listen - I didn't care for his last effort "Tour de Trance" - but this one sounds much better - some proper psychedelic progressive, though quite melodic and uplifting - very dynamic sounding.. I don't think anything can top "Headcleaner" but this album here is very fresh sounding - glad to hear he didn't move further into commercial/mainstream sounding music - I was worried he was gonna go that route bigtime when I heard "Tour de Trance".. Beat Bizarre just released a new album also - "Mukharv" - only heard this once also but WOW, superb music - definitely check this out - this is slow paced (maybe 130bpm), hypnotic, heavy psychedelic progressive - long builds, some great melodies, trippy/funky/dark vibe - Beat Bizarre are masters in this genre and this may be their best album - and there's 12 tracks, 11 of which are over 9 minutes long - this is a serious journey of an album.. Sounds really lush and unique - will have to hear it more but this may be my fav album of 2012. Anyhow, I'm stoked - new Atmos and new Beat Bizarre at just about the same time - what a way to end 2012 for progressive!
  19. Any other reviews of this? The samples sound pretty awesome..
  20. I'm looking for recommendations of any type of electronica - techno, house, dubstep - whatever as long as it has depth and that psychedelic quality. My issue with most albums I hear from other genres outside psytrance is that they aren't that psychedelic - lots of mainstream typ emusic here in the USA anyhow.. Any favorites or recommendations?
  21. The reviews make this one sound great - I'd buy it right away if they would put it on iTunes!
  22. Lol, I was kinda thinking that actually as I was typing - "wait, that's psytrance"! WIll check those out Depth/No Hitz
  23. Thanks again for the suggestions! Surely going to check out the Mindsphere album.. Yea my issue with the neo-goa is that the sound pallete is pretty much the same - both the fx and the melodies - they use treble notes/high notes for all the melodies - bassline underneath and lots of high note melodies - because of this it tends to all sound pretty similar.. I'd like to hear some goa style but with those really trippy progressive/minimal sound effects and different tones to make up the melodies.. Dunno if it would be goa then but whatever..
  24. Ok I downloaded Artifact 303 "Back to Space" and Crossing Mind - "Inner Shift" - thoroughly enjoying both of them - very talented producers indeed! Love Crossing Mind's style - trippy storyteller..
  25. This is a very nice album, quite enjoyable - nothing exceptional in my opinion, but a nice hybrid of downtempo +progressive + goa vibes..
