  1. If you find a couple tracks "a little lacking" how could you give it a perfect score of 5/5?
  2. Hallucinogen - "Deranger" - the part after the build up toward the middle of the track... Infected Mushroom - "Virtual Voyage" - the melody that builds in before and then during the beat toward the middle of the track.. Pleiadians - "Maya" - melody toward the middle of the track Hux Flux - "Snickesnack" and 'Equivelent Equations" - melodies toward the middle of the track - Hux Flux is underrated for melodies but their older work is insane that way - the new album didn't have really any though sadly... Reefer Decree - "Pong" - melody in the second half of the track... So many more, thats all I could think of now though...
  3. Ooo, I had forgotten about Process "One Drop or Two?" - brilliant!
  4. Hhmm I dunno about that - first of all, the video game sound elements are only sprinkled throughout the album, they're not the main attraction by any stretch - the sound here is very fresh and creative and at times deeply moving and beautiful - I love the retro 80's/Kraftwerk thing he does... So far my fav psytrance album of the year - highly recommended.. There's a guy on Discogs who has it out for Artax too - same guy gave both his albums 1/5 which I don't understand at all... Artax, IMO, is the new voice of the Swedish psytrance scene, what with Hux-Flux and Logic Bomb putting out fairly generic sounding albums on their most recent effort...
  5. Hehe, Trance2Moveyou - I wondered the same thing, but about the vote for that AP album in 1st(!) I haven't heard Another World in a long time though, maybe I'll give it another spin.. I just checked out samples of "Transdimensional" and the Loud album and was very impressed with both - I am going to have to order them here soon I think - I'm dissapointed with most recent offerings in this scene, so I want to know what other people think the true classics are, and I'll add those to my collection.. Otto Matta - sadly the Cryptic Crunch and TLD albums you sent me were among those stolen when my car got broke into - fortunately I have copies though.. So that everyone knows, Otto Matta/EA is the person who turned me on to Goa/Psytrance - I was reading through Amazon.com reviews for mainstream Paul Okenfold type trance several years ago, and some asshole had wrote a review totally trashing one of the artists (maybe it was Okenfold) I liked, and saying that if we wanted real trance to check out a bunch of these artists I'd never heard of and some genre called "psytrance" - I was like, WTF?! So I emailed this guy and he sent me a bunch of Juno Reactor, Logic Bomb, and other goa/psytrance CD's - and I've never looked back - thanks Otto!!
  6. Hey there, thx for the kind words Ga2pir! Visine - you may be right about having The Immaculate Perception up there before some others - those ones you mentioned are very good though I haven't heard the Blue Planet corp, Transwave, or Dimension 5 albums... I have Schizoaffective though haven't been able to get into it too much, will give it another try.. There are a lot of really good albums out there, once I get past my top 10 or so it becomes hard to rate them.. And yea, the list excludes the downtempo albums...
  7. My list updates from time to time, so I thought I'd see where everyone else's list is right now.. This list changes for me - "The Gathering" has moved up quite a ways, for instance - I didn't like it much at all until about a year ago.. "Cryptic Crunch" has held the top spot for a long time though, that album is just out of this world, nothing else is like it... Sandman "Psychotoones" is a very underrated piece of work IMO, proper psychedelic music.. "The Immaculate Perception" holds the 10th spot, but may not keep it - there are several others in very close competition.. The following, which are in order of most favorite on down, are as follows: 1. Hux Flux – Cryptic Crunch 2. Koxbox – Dragon Tales 3. X- Dream – Radio 4. Infected Mushroom – Classical Mushroom 5. Infected Mushroom – The Gathering 6. Midimiliz – Non Standards 7. Hallucinogen – Twisted 8. Sandman - Psychotoons 9. Koxbox – The Great Unknown 10. Hallucinogen - The Lone Deranger -------------- I'd been thinking about this because, recently, I have been listening to some of the classics, and am just blown away by them - the creativity and originality of some of the older psytrance albums is on another level from most all what I've heard these past few years..
  8. Between this, Indigo Egg, and Colourform, this is the 3rd Matt Hillier release in a year no? And all three albums are old material that he has basically cleaned up and released - does he need money or something?
  9. Album of the year! Well that remains to be seen, but this one is excellent IMO... I'm afraid I can't write a decent review though, my apologies...
  10. Hi there - no it's not Anahata - this was a 3rd monniker called "Djedi" or something like that - sounded much diff than his stuff as Nystagmus - more fullon style - maybe he scratched the project or maybe it's part of his upcomming psytrance album to be released under the name Anahata?
  11. He's doing some work under a different name - don't remember what but fullon trance style - sounds impressive on his myspace page - wish I could remember the artist psuedonym...
  12. Some of my favorite albums ever I didn't like at all the first time I heard them... I totally dismissed Hallucinogen "Twisted:, Hux Flux "Cryptic Crunch", and X-Dream "Radio" the first time I heard each of them - especially Cryptic Crunch (which if I had to pick would be my favorite psytrance ever) and Radio - thought they both just sounded like a mess of noise until I heard them on good headphones... Now that I know this I try to give an album at least a few chances before deciding I don't like it...
  13. Obviously a troll, and probably a pedophile...
  14. I agree about the track "Aquatic Serenade" being massive (and too short)! - I got this one from a compil - I would like to hear an 8 minute version - the climax of that track is insane, blows me away every time... I don't have his first album as a whole, though I did just order this one...
  15. Wow is Shulman not considered psychill or do people just not like him? "In Search of a Meaningful Moment" and "Endless Rythms of the Beatless Heart" are right at the top of the pile for me - very deep psychedelic voyaging music... Lots of amazing details and sounds, and fantastic production... Ott I agree with too, can't get enough of Ott, everything he has released.. Slackbabba "And the Beat Goes Om..." is excellent as well, top notch stuff... Shulman just blows me away though...
  16. "That evil creature used to live deep in the forest in her house that walked on chicken legs," Nice one!!
  17. Gonna buy it - don't even need to hear the samples after a review like that!!

    Ott - Skylon

After some more listens I've come around to thinking this album is brilliant! - exceptional work here, despite being similar in style to Blumenkraft... There's a lot of beautiful detail, the melodies are excellent, and the soundscapes and so forth are very deep and psychedelic... First-rate journey music...
  19. I like this one pretty well - some really nice moments, and some fresh feeling ideas at times... I don't think this album comes anywhere near the depth and complexity of either the new Shulman or Ott albums though, and the singing and samples are quite bad and amateur sounding IMO...
  20. Haha I hear Infected Mushroom style melodies in this album as well - def track 10 but also a couple of the earlier ones...
  21. I quite like the downtempo side - very good chill.. The uptempo side is pretty good as well, and has some great moments, but there's a pretty serious lack of innovation - If I was told that all the tracks were made by the same artist I'd probably believe it - it's goa in the Astral Projection/Pleiadians style, and done with very little originality...
  22. This one keeps getting better for me - there's a lot of complexity here, often in sublte ways - the way he weaved the laters and melodies together is excellent - very hypnotic and trancy music..
