  1. Over 300 listens?! I've heard it just twice and have yet to really get into it - I need to give it a better listen or something... Production seems sort of lo-fi or something, reminds me a bit of the Kino Oko album from last year that way... I really like the first track I know that...
  2. I heard most this album live at an outdoor party recently where Tristan headlined and didn't like it at all - sounded like shallow party music....
  3. Dunno about the music but the 2012 thing is so cliche at this point... Seriously, I hope that 2012 is like, the most boring year ever - how funny would that be??
  4. Been waiting for this one for quite awhile - Nystagmus is one of my fav artists ever!
  5. If it was about money why would they make psytrance at all, since there's no real money in any type of psytrance? Why wouldn't they produce a mainstream trance album like Tiesto or whatever?
  6. Yea I thought "Labyrinth" was one of the wankest things I've ever heard... I loved BOD, BTI, and Shango, but "Labyrinth" sounds so completely cheesy and pretentious...
  7. There's decent psytrance in and about LA, California - Wizzy Noise is playing here tommorow (though I don't know if they'l be any good...) Saw Ace Ventura and Capsula about a month ago... I think the new Ace Ventura album will be worth checking out, and Capsula is really talented downtempo stuff... But yea, psychedelic drugs and psychedelic art/culture are not popular in the USA - it's all about what's on the surface here, image is everything, deeper meaning and purpose in life is way in the backseat to the values of popular culture and capitalism... Worst of 2006 - did Entheogenic "Golden Cap" come out then or was that 2005?
  8. About sound production - can Pavel or anyone explain to me how commercial Hollywood type releases have better production than most Psytrance? Can someone point me to an album that demonstrates this? I listened to parts of the new Madonna album, Paul Okenfold "Perfecto Presents Another World", and Crystal Method "Tweekend" on my Sennheisers this morning and thought the sound production was way less exciting than most psytrance... The Crystal Method album was pretty good, had some panning and such, but Madonna and Okenfold did almost none of that.... Compare releases like that to X-Dream "Radio", Hux Flux "Crytic Crunch", Kox Box "Dragon Tales" etc in terms of production, how can you say commercial releases are better? I totally don't get it...
  9. Visine - I don't think it's that easily classifiable...
  10. "Cheese" is such a meaningless word for music - I actually didn't like the Talpa album in general because I thought it was too aggressive and grating - can tell it was made by a young male...
  11. Actually my copy of "Blast Food" was among those discs stolen when my CD collection was taken out of my car I was thinking about that one actually, because I don't think I gave it a fair chance, though I do remember being impressed by that "One Way Ltd" track...
  12. Pavel - I enjoyed reading your review in terms of the writing itself... However, the tracks on this album are very different from each other - how can you generalize the whole album in that 0/10 or 10/10 way? It seems you're making a comment on their style in general rather than really examining the seperate tracks... I agree that IM has developed a completely obnoxious style in recent years, but some of their tracks have been superb - "Streched" from "IM the Supervisor" comes to mind... It's hit or miss, you have to rate each track on it's own merit I think... Some albums are more congruent, where all the tracks are in the same format, and it's easier to comment on the whole album, but not with this one... Also, what are "plot" and "sensitivity" as you use the terms? An unrelated question - isn't most psytrance way ahead of mainstream or "Hollywood" electronica in terms of production quality? I remember listening to one of the Okenfold albums on headphones once after I graduated to psytrance and the production was all flat, no sound panning or wicked sonic manipulation like you get with good psytrance producers... Would you say IM's production is any better than other top producers like X-Dream, KoxBox, Simon Posford, etc? If so, how is it different or better?
  13. Got this album about a week ago and am just freaking out about it - is it me or is this album like, some of the most badass sophisticated/advanced music to come out of an electronica studio ever? I mean, holy sh!t!!! I put this on my big Sennheiser headphones the first time and was completely blown away - there's only been a couple other albums that amazed me like this one did on the headphones - freakin epic music... Stunning, mesmorizing, royal pieces of music... The way the tracks evolve is just so creative, there's a huge amount of style going on, the way they're continually tweaking the melodies and basslines and fx throughout the tracks, so much personality... So far "Treble Rebel", "Speaker Sneaker", and "The Invisible Witness" are my favorites but all the tracks are amazing - some of them I have a harder time getting into if I'm listening while driving or otherwise not on headphones though... Headphones are just magic with this album... Haven't heard the other Midi Miliz albums...
  14. Hux Flux - Dennis Tapper Midi Miliz Infected Mushroom Ott Sandman
  15. I really like this one, and I didn't care too much for his first album... The music here is so fresh and colorfull - and his basslines are very catchy and creative... Highly psychedelic music too, way moreso than most psytrance I've heard...
  16. The other is for me... Yes indeed, she's going to be sending it to me...
  17. Is there anywhere to hear samples?
  18. So this is good music here then? Healium sure needs some good music - is there anywhere to preview the tracks?
  19. Sometimes I can't get into this album at all, but a couple of the times I could I was swearing it was like the finest psychedelic trance I'd heard! I think this one requires very active/focused listening, preferably on a good system and in a spacy state of mind... Mono Klang and Terrorist are killer... The music has a very cold minimalist quality to it, it's very clean and reserved or something, so I had a hard time warming up to it at first... Very complex and intelligent music...
  20. Yah I'm really out of the loop - which labels are you talking about? - like Warp records and stuff?
  21. Time Trap - where do you buy/learn about/hear of these IDM releases? Is there an IDM forum or community somewhere also?
  22. How is a lead different from a melody, or are they the same thing?
  23. Alrighty, thanks for the input! Listened to the samples of "Non-Standard" and "Retrofuturism" - both sound killer - definately will be ordering those! I think I like the Atmos too... I have the Trentemoller, Sun Kite, Kino Oko, and CBL albums... I liked Sun Kite "Colours" tghe first couple listens but I quickly became bored with it, it has this shallow repetitive quality that really annoys me... The Trentemoller album sounds like really good art, but I can't say I like it that much, if that makes any sense... I think it will grow on me - some tracks I really do like also... I didn't like the Kino Oko much at all, just didn't get it... The CBL is nice stuff, though in exactly the same style/vibe/sound as every other Ultimae release... I shouldn't say limit your recommendations to the past few years - any electronica type album or psytrance album that is phenomenal I'd like to know about... My favorite stuff is the older Koxbox/Hux Flux/IM/Sandman/X-Dream anyway - the pre-2002 releases mainly.... Older Autechre, Plaid, Jean Michael-Jarre too... So any which recommendations would be great...
  24. I haven't bought any new music in quite awhile and am looking for something truly interesting and unique.. Here are some albums I've bought over the past few years that I really liked: Fuzzion - Black Magic James Reipas - Uwaga Nystagmus - The Immaculate Perception Reefer Decree - Point of You Electrypnose - Subliminal Melancholies Process - One Drop or Two? Matenda - Mediteran Downbeat Liquid vol 1 Bluetech - Elementary Particles & Prima Materia I listened to the samples from the Sattel Battle album and that sounded really interesting.. I don't like the Full-On or aggressive or "darkpsy" type stuff... I don't really like the progressive trance either... I do like intricate/complex and highly psychedelic music though... Has anyone heard an album recently of any electronica genre that they thought was exceptional and quite unique?
  25. Oh yea, Discogs, I'd forgotten about that place... That's not what I mean though really - the people selling it on Discogs or ebay or wherever just pocket all the money - Koxbox doesn't benefit from them re-selling it.. That's why in this case there's no ethical issue with someone just making me a copy of their own CD... I used to have this album is the sad part - my whole CD collection was stolen out of my car a few months ago, and the friend of mine who also had this album sold it on ebay
