  1. Artist: Jacob Title: Enjoy The Ride Label: Spin Twist Records Date: 10/12/18 Tracklist:- 01 Where all Begins 02 Sound City (ft. 4i20) 03 Durs - Serendipity (Jacob remix) 04 Fake Idols (ft. Mandragora) 05 Binomial (ft. Harmonyc) 06 Energy Around You (ft. Juiced) 07 Wobbly Girl 08 Synergy (ft. Basscannon) 09 Music is 10 We Come in Piece (ft. Mandragora) 11 Fly Away (ft. Juiced) 12 Enjoy The Ride You really don't need to look much further than Spin twist Records if you're after fun clubby proggy tunes that will get a crowd jumping. Their last release I listened to was Therapy by Fabio which was perfect for a dark club with friends. Now Jacob has come out with a perfect album for a hot summer day, cider and friends. While not particularly psychedelic or trippy and pretty much non stop prog, Enjoy The Ride is a bunch of fun from start to finish. I listened to it while walking through Swedish forests in the sun today and I can say that it fit the mood perfectly. Punchy kick drums, rolling bass lines, lots of catchy vocals and melodies. In fact, if like me your only source of vocal music is a selection of tracks by Sade and Dido but at the same time you still enjoy your words then this album will hit the spot. Instead of following the typical 4 to the floor prog pattern Jacob keeps his music interesting by chopping his beats up while retaining all the rhythm. Most tracks start with cool dubby or breakbeat sections that spiral off into prog wonderland and most end in ecstasy. While some tracks feel like they are going to be typical pieces I can assure you that Jacob doesn't let anything get boring, typical or dry. Favourites: 4, 7, 9 and 12. Tracks 12 is a really really good downtempo piece. https://www.beatport.com/release/enjoy-the-ride/2396790

  3. I finally finished my remake on the classic tune Edvard Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King". Listen to it here and give me some feedback
  4. Artist: Hypnoxock Title: Moving In Trance (The Collection) Label: Astronautic Records Date: December, 2012 01 - Logic Evolution (138 BPM) 02 - Reflex (138 BPM) 03 - Viped 1 (138 BPM) 04 - Next World (140 BPM) 05 - Camouflage (130 BPM) 06 - Dimensio Desconeguda (138 BPM) 07 - Electroxock (145 BPM) 08 - Progresion Ecliptica (144 BPM) 09 - Ecstassy (145 BPM) 10 - Vibrations (Cosmic Remix) (147 BPM) 11 - Emotions (140 BPM) 12 - Rare Planet (147 BPM) What was once the best kept secret in psytrance is now one of the projects that restores faith in a genre that has seen its ups and downs. Hailing from Spain we are freshly basking in the afterglow of his latest album Eurythmia where he continues to develop his hybrid of goa, psy, and progressive trance. What makes this project so special is the attention to detail without sacrificing power or atmosphere. Total package. This release (which I guess is a collection of b-sides or unreleaseds?) is six years old as of this writing and like the rest of the catalog it is extremely solid. 12 digital tracks where they (at the time I think they were a duo) go up and down the genre with super results. Reflex and Viped 1 straddle that psychedelic progressive line while Camouflage will keep your toe tapping in a euphoric style with a progressive bpm. Even the tracks that aren't superlatives (full-on) still reek of quality and detail. If you like their lush and powerful style this one won't disappoint. Free at Ektoplazm
  5. Artist: Koan Title: Leap of Faith Label: Blue Tunes Recordings Date: March, 2018 1. My Personal Dark Knight 2. Reflection 3. Margin Call 4. Manifesto 5. Mayda 6. Gabriel's Trump Card 7. Jinn's Keeper 8. The Die is Cast 9. Vendetta 10. Entangled Threads (Roeth and Grey Version) 11. Syndicate (Roeth and Grey Version) 12. Esbat (Witch Arrow Mix) 13. At the Sunset of Red Moon (Witch Arrow Mix) 14. Mayferien Nights (New Orlean Mix) 15. Abendreiterin "There's no use praying my friend. Even your God knows better than to come here." This Russian duo is nothing if not prolific. Like the vast majority of their output this is a digital release sounding like a solid piece of progressive trance firmly entrenched in the Blue Tunes vein. Dreamy, uplifting, and bouncy trance that more than flirts with a techno vibe. It's a pretty varied cross section of the progressive genre, sometimes sounding cold and clinical. On the other hand it can also be warm and precise with tracks like the Witch and Arrow mix of Esbat and the New Orlean mix of Mayferien Nights bringing a smile to my face the whole way through. Far from perfect it is still quite enjoyable and shows that this duo isn't afraid to move in different directions. Psyshop Download

  7. Artist: Human Blue Title: Base Basket Buffet Label: Transient Records Date: February, 2009 1. Lone Ranger 2. Imperial Mind 3. Dessert Desert 4. Dragonflingz 5. Hide and Seek 6. Party Deluxe 7. Pacific Run 8. Gravity Affair Progressive trance from Sweden? Sign me up. The churning beats, the deep bass sounds that growl from the ether, and lush pads make this one a keeper. The opening track is a lesson on how to open an album combining power and layers to blur the line between psytrance and progressive. That trend continues throughout the album with long tracks which I believe mostly hold up well some ten years on. Psyshop
  8. Hey guys made a new track and a new live set with some new ideas, hope you like it

  10. Artist: Akshan Title: World of Duality Label: Altar Records Date: March, 2018 1. Welcome As You Are 2. La Conscience De L'espace 3. World of Trouble 4. Time For Change 5. The Other Side 6. Underworld 7. Rebirth 8. Time Is Unity Akshan is a French artist inspired by the likes of Vangelis and Jean Michel Jarre and it shows in his compositions. His first two albums The Tree of Life and The Rise of Atlantis were exercises in vast, cinematic soundscapes. One might say a virtual reality that enveloped the listener. While the first two tracks are slightly minimal sounding lacking that soundtrack experience the third track World of Trouble gets him back to his sweet spot. The melodies and effects he uses are highly emotional akin to the type you would find on a Hollywood blockbuster. The intro to Time For Change is simply marvelous and the track continues the slow burn of somewhat tribal mysticism. True, some of the tracks perhaps ramble for a little too long, but he shows skill and attention to detail with numerous layers to keep the ear involved. His breaks are very powerful and serve as a strong bridge between parts of the tracks. While not as "epic" as his previous work, I enjoyed the album and think any progressive trance listener would also. Altar Bandcamp Psyshop
  11. Artist: Lyktum Title: Human Label: Iono Music Date: February, 2018 1. Divine Enchantment 2. Spirit Guide 3. Symmetry 4. Water 5. Golden Thinking 6. Dreaming 7. Visionary Realm 8. Sacred Plants 9. Freedom 10. Masters of Momentum Dejan Jovanović has been in the game for quite some time now and this is his 3rd release as Lyktum. Spelled with a "k" now because everyone knows that's the coolest letter in the alphabet. He usually straddles the line between progressive trance and psytrance, but with this release he backflips over it. It's layer heavy with a lot of smooth and drifting melodies. The way he blends the main phrases with the breaks sometimes gives goosebumps. The galloping bassline is still there, but he adds so many other things that it fades into the background nicely. He didn't reinvent the wheel of course, but it's still an exceptional album. Iono Bandcamp Psyshop

  14. Hey guys, this is my first Live-Set, any opinions?
  15. Artist: Astral Waves Title: Magnetique Label: Altar Records Date: March 2015 1. Emergence (Album Edit) 2. Le Rêve Eveillé 3. Les Liens Du Sang (Feat. Aureohm) 4. Déploie Tes Ailes 5. La Danse Des Elfes 6. Suntrap (Morning Mix) 7. Androcell - Efflorescence (Astral Waves Remix) 8. L'Oiseau De l'Aube (Feat. Alwoods) Bored me you have. This is the third album of DJ Zen's Astral Waves project and while I thoroughly enjoyed Magique, I cannot say the same for this one. The majority of the tracks are on the long side and tend to be overly so. This is treadmill running. Yeah I'm running so that's great and my heart is happy, but I'm not going anywhere so now my mind is pissed off. The first three tracks were positive, but then this effort just fell off the cliff. The last album was mostly downtempo with varied themes, but this album is uptempo without any depth or challenges. It is competent, but it is far from memorable and full of what we have heard ad nauseum. Altar Bandcamp Psyshop
  16. Hey guys, made a new track, tried to put some euphoric leads to dirty progressive trance and put in some dark leads in the end. Any opinions?
  17. Trying to combine old schoool goa trance with dubstep and to play bass using an incredible effect chain:
  18. Artist: Side Effects Title: Next Destination Label: Tech Safari Records Date: September, 2017 1. Next Destination 2. Space Travel (with Sonic Sense) 3. What Is Real (with IIai) 4. Burning Man 5. Eruption 6. Waves of Sound 7. Electro Magnetic (with Helber Gun) 8. We Are Not Alone 9. Storm 10. Human Archetyp (with Seamoon) I know what you're thinking. He hasn't posted a review in months and he comes with this obscure nonsense? Yeah I know, but I don't control the mood that strikes me. You never know what's going to hit you or where the review... *38 minutes later* Sorry, I was watching an episode of Modern Family. What were we talking about? Ah, this digital album by an Israeli duo. Last I heard of them was the disastrous City On Mars album. Since I deleted that album from the hard drive and have no desire to waste my time I cannot compare the two. What I can tell you is that this is a triplet lovers paradise with a style that has been beaten to death. I enjoy their breaks and use of effects, but the music just doesn't stand out or separate itself from the countless other artists that traffic in the same style. I've started asking myself when reviewing an album if it was good enough that I would want to listen to it again. *2 hours later* You're still here? What album were we talking about? Psyshop
  19. Artist: E-Clip Title: Biointegrated Design Label: Iono Music Date: April, 2017 1. E-clip & Zen Mechanics - Sundowning 2. E-Clip & Mickey Noise - The One 3. Chemical Bond 4. E-clip & Subliminal Codes - Apex 5. E-clip & Avalon - Isotonic Tuning 6. Radio Entelechy 7. Semifluid Substances 8. Occult Lore 9. Welkin And the award for the most disappointing follow up album goes to...E-clip! "First and foremost I'd like to thank God for without whom nothing is possible. I'd like to thank my family. Of course I'd be remiss if I didn't thank all the expensive software that I used to pump out generic progressive trance tracks. They said we couldn't do it, but I believed! I'd like to thank the label Iono for getting fooled and believing in me after my successful debut album. I realize this is a step backwards with tracks that sound like all other progressive music, but sometimes you have to put in minimal effort and throw creativity out the window if you want to make a mediocre album." I'm exaggerating of course, but really this is not a positive step for this artist. The tracks themselves are decent, but they sound like everyone else. When you set the bar high with a superb debut and compilation tracks, not reaching it has to be disappointment. The lush details and atmosphere of his debut Shuma are noticeably absent as he seemed to move in a more minimal direction. Melodies are not as apparent in a series of tracks that fail to capture the imagination. I would blame it on excessive collaborations, but one, that's never stopped him before, and two, even if that was so most of the tracks are just his. Let me be clear it's not a bad album, but he has shown that he has produced much better stuff than this. Iono Bandcamp Digital Psyshop Beatspace
  20. Artist: Various Title: Freak the Tune Label: Blue Tunes Recordings Date: June, 2008 1. Midimal - Secrets of Beauty 2. Dualnok - Wave Out 3. Earsugar - Womanizer (Quantize Remix) 4. Martin - Intoxicated 5. Infinity & Meander - Rollercoaster 6. Liquid Soul - 6.15 am (Jay Selway Remix) 7. Progenitor - Visions 8. Manuel Duego - Deception (Symphonix Remix) 9. Dream Donor - Dancing Knobs "People think they came here to take over the planet." This German progressive trance label has been around for a very long time releasing a lot of great music. I tend to like the progressive trance that paints a lush picture with tons of layers rather than the more minimal, bare boned approach. With their 19th CD this was an enjoyable, smooth progressive ride. Most of the songs had layers to get lost in as well as being head nodding bounce worthy. This is almost a decade old, but it holds up surprisingly well. They didn't reinvent the wheel (to be honest I really don't know what that would look like at this point), but if you're in the mood for some groovy tunes that put a smile on your face, this will do nicely. 21. Artist: Akshan Title: Versions Inedites Ep Label: Altar Records Date: May, 2013 1. The Rise Of Atlantis (Extended Live Mix) 2. Adagio For The Braves (Extended Live Mix) 3. Journey To Persia (Extended Mix) 4. Gates Of Heaven (Extended Live Mix) 5. Shadows And Lights (Extended Mix) Vincent Grenier is a French artist who has crafted some of the most gorgeous downtempo and progressive trance I've ever heard. His style is symphonic and wide open like the skies of Montana. No space is left untouched as his music reaches deep and lush soundscapes. These five tracks for an Ep (almost an hour of music) are versions that were unreleased from his two albums. One track Journey to Persia I've never heard before. The music is mellow, lengthy, melancholy and dream inducing characterized by long intros and outros. It's truly storytelling at its finest. It's been a while since his last album and I sure hope he will have more music soon. Altar Records Bandcamp (24 bits)
