  1. Cosmosis? Junodownload, no doubt. Anything else is just wrong, antic. I recently bought both of Cosmosis Retro compilations from that shop. While their MP3 encoder is fairly adequate, I recommend buying WAVs, because later on (while checking out), you even get the option to compress your WAV to Flac Cheaper than beatport, although the latter has some stuff in stock Juno is yet to obtain, but it's the same thing when you look at it the other way around
  2. Wait a second! Is this for real? Benny Banassi and David Guetta qualify as somewhat psychedelic? Didn't know that... But if you feel that way, and I am glad there are people out there who actually do, then maybe check out Paolo Barbato, Claude VanStroke, Martin Solveig and Bob Sinclair. Catchy, joyous, slow paced tunes - ideal stuff for sunny afternoon summer beach parties! Same toilet as Guetta & Co... Ian Pooley's 1998 "Meridian" album might be something to your liking as well, as I remember it being quite big, and at least twice as good as tracks by artists you mentioned ^^
  3. This is like a meteor diamond crushing upon the earth's surface. That album is mighty amazing. Living proof of how full on can be powerful, and fun. Other than that, I'd place my money on Ormion's words. He seems to fancy the wilder and agressive side of psy. Some of that older 3D Vision stuff is incredible. Pure power. Timeless and relentless full on. Objectively, The AMD album was great, and that V/A God Save The Machine release on TIP World was out of this world! Outrageously good, and there goes me with my theory of how I'd never again write anything positive about that label Unfortunately, those releases are scattered, random fragments in the hinterland of my memory...
  4. Who, in the name of almighty God, is Ishq? What is up with this recent psynews trend of opening threads about artists, with 1-2 replies at most? Is it a matter of mere provocation, or have people just become too lazy to leave their bedroom? Guys, nobody cares. Really, nobody cares.
  5. I con convert my MP3 files into WAV as well and then give them to you, if it would make things easier. Plus you wouldn't have to claim they're illegal either. You could be like: "My main man rino has the real deal. Hit him on his pager, he'll send ya over the goods in a heart beat, without breaking a sweat!"
  6. Thanks! Awesome that they have a new album out. I wasn't even aware of it! I absolutely adored "Round 1", but then these guys disappeared from my radar I could never get into any of their subsequent work.
  7. A moment of embarassing honesty: what does EvsY stand for?
  8. I LOLed so hard! P.S.: hands down, Jon is THE goa trance reviewer on psynews.

  10. I gotta say psy hasn't really been my thing thus far in 2009... But this is not meant to discourage you, just a subjective overlook. I will however urge you to give this one a listen: http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=55626 I also recommend you try the Amanians EP released as a WAV download (buy it over @ Juno). And even though it's not really my thing, you might want to try out Psykovsky's latest. In brief: V/A People Walk Funny and Solar Fields' Movements are the only psy orientated releases which impressed me front to back so far this year. Filteria's album has 3-4 gems I come back to frequently, but the album as a whole doesn't get that much play time.
  11. Guys, this is IT: http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=54714 Nothing more, nothing less. Just run through the topic, and you'll get the whole picture
  12. That is a very, very old thread my friend. I remember when Pedro made it. Most of those vinyls are gone. I can confirm that since I and a few mates picked up about 85% of 12" releases from the list...
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtyJbIOZjS8...eature=featured http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uqxo1SKB0z8...eature=featured http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tqYUTjQIc0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVoJ6OO6lR4 All hippie, shiva, psy induced aesthetics set aside, I quite liked some of these as a kid. Crap, made me dig out my "Bad" vinyl, undust the record and... What a wacked out personality though. As if the music hasn't earned him kazillions, just about every TV or radio appearance got the media hyped sky high. Damn it, bottom line is he actually made pop music sound cool for a while there. Whatever, Thriller and Billie Jean remain amazing songs!
  14. Hm, The Count of Monte Cristo (yup, the whole thing!), Clockwork Orange, The Trial all come to mind without too much thinking.
  15. I picked up both of those Cosmosis Retro comps off Junodownload. I reckon anybody'd have a tough as coffin nails field day to convince me I made a mistake. Both releases are awesome, nothing less! The track selection is outrageously good, some remixes and alternate takes on long time favorites, some unreleased gems... Wow! I always thought of Cosmosis as one of the greatest old school production masterminds. What a treat, man!
  16. Slinky Wizard Their old AFR releases are amazing. Rhythmically dense, with ever morphing layers and complex sequences of pure old school melody combined with intricate, sometimes subtle and other times in your face psychedelia.
  17. Beh, too much shallow talk and emoticons, with zero to none arguments I made my point. I give up. Plus I made somebody's day this morning by unloading half a dozen CDs, so money has exchanged hands and music paved way to a new home

  19. Speedy J- Pannik (Rmx) talk about great build-ups and climaxes...
  20. I've heard this argument quite a few times I don't agree with it though, while I fully understand. First of all, whoever is persistent with this attitude oftenly lacks what it takes to elaborate upon the concept of "fake new versions". If the music is defined as old school goa trance, then all technicalites and geekish software improvements set aside - it remains old school goa trance. Period. Exclamation mark. Whichever one you prefer. We all know what an original CD looks like, be it an Avatar reissue or an old Matsuri dusty CD you saw Shiva's sister in while combing your hair. A collection of old school goa trance directly implies you have CDs/vinyls/DATs defined as old school goa trance. Different bar codes, cat.# and sound improvements, whatever, are frequently possibilites to shed light on forgotten gems, and give new comers a possibility to have a peak at what was it all about a decade and maybe some more ago. It's not a crusade against old school goa trance, but a well intentional step toward giving some of that stuff respect long time overdo. One additional thing: most die hard old school collectors have both, the original and the re-issue, 'cause now one can sit on the shelf and look nice, while the other is used for playing
  21. Funny things is, I was never that much of a MFG fan myself, but nevertheless, I'm going to their gig tonight. There is something about their sound that makes me reluctant to put on their albums. Truth be said, I can give "Project genesis" an occasional spin, but their debut and sophmore albums don't please my senses. I don't know, I don't find their tracks memorable... Some other projects which seem to be generally loved, but mainly avoided by my CD player are: Prometheus S.U.N. Project Shiva Chandra Electric Universe Infected Mushroom Shiva Shidapu and every other possible, imaginable, known and unknown alias of theirs. I really wouldn't appreciate if somebody misinterpreted my intention here, and started a hatred war. This is merely an interesting glance at some artists which have through time gained a certain status and/or cult following, but never quite captured my attention as much as I maybe expected.

  23. Man, I won't bother you with details, but at least put these on ONCE before buying anything else. Odds are you'll never remove 'em from your head again.
  24. I don't think you quite understand. Essays have been written ALL over internet forums throughout the last fifteen years about Total Eclipse and their musical output. As much I as I enjoyed their music back in the day (and admittedly I still occasionally do), wrote flattering reviews and feedbacks, my honest opinion is that their music has not aged with grace. And I stick to what I say. You can ask around!
  25. ...good lord then, luckily you wrote such a competent and eloquent review and shed some light on their output! Thanks for the heads up! It's not so often these days you see people put forth so much effort into coming up with a constructive thought and/or review!
