  1. Colin is 5-6 db of reduction also overkill? Ideally how much reduction should you have to apply to be able to bring your mix to -10db? I'm just wondering because most of my mixdowns are between -18db to -16db (RMS). Also when you're mixing down what are you supposed to do with some peaks that go up almost to 0db? Are you supposed to normalise them? Also do you have any tips on how to have a relatively high RMS on your mixdowns and still leaving enough headroom? Thanks!
  2. FL is a great program but one area it lacks in is audio editing. This is where programs like Cubase have a great advantage with its 'offline processing' feature. Ableton is also good for certain stuff. For instance you can drop pretty much any loop into your project and easily time stretch it to the bpm of your project. At the end of the day its not really the program its how you use them, everyone has their own preferences. I started out using FL for two years but there came a point where i felt my creativity was being limited because of its audio editing features, i moved to Cubase & never looked back! If you move to Cubase you can still rewire ableton or FL to it & be able to use them so its not like you have to completely ditch the program. If you can't do without certain features of a program just rewire it & use it with the host sequencer.
  3. Absolutely brilliant album! CBL did not disappoint at all, i just love their music its so dreamy & floaty, perfect for falling asleep to! 10/10
  4. Did someone say cheese? My specialty Oh and speaking of Talamasca: http://beatbiz.net/player.php?tid=1156&amp...&USERID=523
  5. I agree with Nemo, there's no midi-controller on the market right now which can match the Novation SL in the features or build quality..Just the auto-map function in itself makes it the best choice! I'm going to get one soon got rid of my Emu Xboard..
  6. I'm learning, still new here! Next time it'll be titled Freq style but waaaaay more killlarrrgggghhh track Funny you should say Freq style though because that is the kind of style i was going for, call it prog-on if you will! You're actually the first person who's liked the vocal, all the other people said it was the only thing they didn't like..Different strokes for different folks i guess..Thanks for listening!
  7. Strange, i just tried it & it works for me! Maybe try again later?
  8. Nice one! So much about cubase that i still haven't explored!

You're welcome! I know i went through the same research phase, reading countless reviews and browsing forums..I wasn't disappointed by my choice at the end of the day..What really convinced me was actually going to a shop & listening to ALL of the headphones there and these were by far the best..

Hmmm well they'll still sound good but not AS good as they'll sound plugged into a decent amp..You said you're going to be using them to listen to music so i think they'll do just fine since the whole point of listening to music is to enjoy the full blown experience which they'll give..I've used them with my discman and they sound great..I was just saying that if you want to use them for production then you're better of driving them from a good amp.. If you want another comparable one check out Audio technica ATH-900..The only downside to these however is that they make your ears hot and sweaty after wearing them for a while so they're not as comfortable as the DT770's.. http://www.audiocubes.com/category/Headpho...Headphones.html

The bass response depends on how you'll be driving the headphones..If they're being driven by a good headphone amp the low end is more controlled..For example they sound MUCH better with my pro audio interface then plugged straight into my laptop..So yes to get the best out of these you do need a good amp..This is why i recommended the 80 ohm version though since they are easier to drive than the 250 ohm model..

I would recommend beyerdynamic DT770 pro (80 ohms version)..I literally tried out dozens of headphones before buying these which included all sennheisers, akg's etc etc These blow all of em away..If you check forums like head-fi which are dedicated to headphones you'll see these being recommended most of the time..They've got the most bass response out of the competition which makes them ideal for electronic music..They're not hyped either so can be used for production as well..They're especially good at noise cancellation which makes them ideal for tracking when recording vocals as there's no leakage..Really comfortable to wear for long periods too which is something important to consider and most people don't realise this when buying headphones..I've owned several headphones which i had to get rid of because they made my ears hurt after some hours, never had this problem with these.. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Bey...25&src=3SOSWXXA Reviews: http://www.audioreview.com/PRD_117777_2750crx.aspx
  13. Can someone please say its crap so i can call them an imbecile, ignorant and what not!
  14. Turn off all unnecessary services..Type 'services.msc' in run and either stop, disable or set the extra services to manual.. I've heard some people having these issues before & in some cases it was a virus that was causing it so run a anti-virus scan.. Also try increasing your buffer settings and give FL high priority in your taskmanager..Try not to run any other programs in the background when FL is running.. Hope this helps..
  15. Hey guys, Decided to do something a little slower for a change, this is something i'm still working on..Its 138 bpm but i don't know if this can be called progressive.. Anyway let me know if you dig it.. Mixdown might not be perfect still going to work on it..ANy tips on production would be appreciated! http://beatbiz.net/player.php?tid=1171&ART...Cube&USERID=523
  16. Cosmic flower your inbox is full, tried to send you a pm! I sent a track from the following email add: cradle_of_beats@hotmail.com Did you get it?
  17. Hey guys, Would love to get some feedback on this remix i did to talamasca: http://www.beatbiz.net/player.php?tid=1156...Cube&USERID=523
  18. Is there any difference between using the 'Resample' process or just using 'Save as' in soundforge and then choosing to save it as a 16 bit wave file? I usually bounce at 32 bit so the first thing i do is apply some limiting then save the file as 16 bit..Should SRC always be done last?
  19. Hi guys & gals! Here's a preview of a new track of mine, would love to get some reviews! You can stream and/or download from this link: http://www.beatbiz.net/player.php?tid=1115...Cube&USERID=523 Look forward to your comments!
  20. I haven't gotten that much into live but i find cubase is really good once you get the hang of it..It might have a steeper learning curve but at the end of the day it allows you to do much more.. I love especially how easy it is to arrange & put your ideas down in cubase something which i didn't find as easy in other sequencers..Your best bet would be to try them both out for a bit & make your mind up..
