I also find that most neogoa (or whatever you want to call it) sounds very samey to me compared to stuff from the 90's, but finding all music from a given genre samey is traditionally a sign that one doesn't understand it; lots of people who don't like psytrance think that all psytrance sounds the same, for example, but as a fan of the genre I know that it doesn't. Procyon, isn't the fact that many people seem to agree about characteristics that may not be apparent to you (such as the fact that Cronomi records sound significantly different to Suntrip records, or that Artha's albums and Ra's albums are better than most of the others) evidence that your and my perception that all neogoa sounds the same is probably more about us than about the music? e: Sorry, let me rephrase that: Better?

I don't see that there's anything to prevent you from posting DJ sets in the "Other Electronica" subforum. If enough people start doing so then it will make sense to open a dedicated section, though I personally don't expect there will be much demand for it.

I'm sorry if you think that Ormion's, Exotic's and my arguments are stupid. In retrospect I can see that only a psychotic such as I would have attempted to refute your statement that "the vast majority [of darkpsy] is related to diseases, mental conditions, bad health, death, crimes, confusion, sadness" by posting the first 10 darkpsy albums I could find and pointing out how many of them were actually related to those things. And only an idiot like Ormion would have responded to the claim that randomness is a subjective judgement by actually bothering to post a dictionary definition of "random" to support his case. From now on I will attempt to instead use the reasonable, intelligent debating style that the darkpsy haters have shown in this thread - perhaps I'll respond to any further questions you may have with some stock images of babies crying, for example. Would that be better?

Putting aside the fact that whether music is random (as opposed to whether it sounds random to a given listener) is not subjective, the reason I originally responded to Visine is because I'm sick of seeing people continually bash darkpsy for no reason, on a forum where half the regulars like darkpsy. Look, as it happens I don't much care for the majority of progressive psytrance. I have more sense than to pretend I have anything more than a superficial knowledge and superficial understanding of the genre, but what little I've heard I mostly find boring. I expect that there are a number of other psynewsers who feel the same way. But you never see me, or anyone else AFAICR, randomly insult progressive psytrance in a thread that has nothing to do with progressive psytrance, or interrupt a thread in which people who like progressive psytrance are trying to have an intelligent discussion about it, solely for the purpose of calling it boring and pointing out that the people who like it worship Satan. The reason that I and others don't do this is because we have some respect for the many people here who like progressive psytrance, and because that would be a totally dick move. Why, then, don't darkpsy haters show people who like darkpsy the same courtesy?

Instead I disagreed with your statements that darkpsy is random and darkpsy is Satanic, neither of which is a subjective judgement. You can't back those up, since they're false, so you're reduced to pretending I disagreed with something other than what I actually disagreed with. It's very dishonest, and utterly unsurprising.

That the majority of darkpsy has nothing to do with Satanism or horror is not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of fact. For example, here are 10 darkpsy albums 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. They weren't cherry-picked by me; I just looked at the Goastore front page, and added every darkpsy album there to the list. There were only 9, so I also added the first darkpsy album I saw in the "customers who bought this product also purchased" box. Of the 10 albums, one has artwork that is either Satanic or horror-themed. Another has the word "death" in the title. The rest have nothing whatsoever to do with Satanism or horror. With regards to freedom of expression, of course you are free to post your ill-informed opinions to psynews, just as I am free to point out how ill-informed they are. Yes, a single example definitely proves that all darkpsy is Satanic. Much like the track titles on this album prove that all Goa trance is horror-themed. But maybe that was just an unfair example, right? I had to pick an obscure Goa album that nobody has ever heard of to prove my point. Are there any other Goa trance albums with horror titles or horror samples? I can only think of other esoteric releases that you probably don't know about, like this.

Well, there are certainly a few darkpsy artists and labels that make Satanic/horror-inspired stuff, just as there were some old-school Goa acts that did likewise. They're a small minority in both cases. But just like the "darkpsy is random" meme, the "darkpsy is Satanic" thing got made up by some ignorant fuck and has since been repeated ad infinitum by other ignorant fucks.
