  1. I agree to an extent that some of the older stuff doesn't hold up over time. It seems to me this has a lot to do with advances in technology, however, rather than lack of artistic talent. I find it difficult to listen to a lot of older Total Eclipse, for instance, not because their music isn't innovative, but because their sound is somewhat thin compared to newer productions. And I have to admit that it's frustrating and sad to not be able to enjoy older music like I once did. However, there are some old albums that have held up really well. Astral Projection's Trust in Trance is a great example.
  2. Freud would certainly get a kick out of it.
  3. "A fetus in the wound"? Wow, that is deep. In fact, I could say the entire track is like a deep, gaping wound.
  4. Except it's a lime, and too close to "Lime Structure."
  5. What do the gray, blurred out bits mean?
  6. Yeah, it's a great, great album. The Grey Spook tracks are good, but there are a few on the album that rock even more. And oddly enough, it's one of the few CDs I bought from a chain store in the late 90s (Tower Records).
  7. That one's probably closest to the real thing. My list would look something like this: 1. Pleiadians - IFO 2. Spirallianz - Blast Food 3. Juno Reactor - Transmissions 4. Schlab - v. 5 5. Colorbox - Train to Chroma City
  8. Yeah, 13 was more interesting - wasn't that the one with the Trip Tonite remix?
  9. Totally agree.
  10. Definitely Pulse 10. That was probably the worst Goa-Head in my opinion.
  11. See if they're still doing the Pioneer DJ Box 1 deal where you get two CDJ-100s and a DJM-300 for a good price. That's what I did. If I remember it was around $800 for the whole shebang, whereas separately they'd be more expensive. Of course it's all pretty basic stuff, but at least it's solid. Some stores will let you finance it, too, which might be helpful if you don't have it all in cash.
  12. I'm feelin' it, man. My inner NHJO. Except his music is making my inner child cry.
  13. I'm kinda with Unikos on this one. It starts amazingly and stays that way for the first half or so, then it gets a little tired, runs short on steam. I really like the sound usage and the general structure, though.
  14. Wow, that's definitely cool. I can imagine some pretty interesting future applications when it becomes more advanced and streamlined.
  15. The release date is Ka-So-Long from now.
  16. Yikes, bro. d b Some interesting moments in there, though.
  17. Good god. Ridiculous. I hope that CD cooks dinner, does the laundry and gives a class A blowjob as it plays.
  18. I think you're right, unikos. I'd either like to go more synthetic (8-bit Kraftwerk-esque) or more organic (or rough, as you say), but it's so much easier in between. It's all about practice, and I've practically just begun. Thanks for the nice comments and honest suggestions. Very helpful.
  19. Thanks Shaft. I'll put it on the first page as well. By the way, nice assortment of samples. I did a relatively quick search for certain more obscure samples and I had trouble finding interesting ones. What's the best way to Google a particular vocal/speech sample? Just dig around for a while?
  20. It's so nice to see how human he is. Like, there's totally a person behind the music. 'Cause when I listen, it seems, like, totally some crazy robot or something going wild and burning houses or something. Why doesn't he have a record deal yet? I think the labels are just, like, totally scared of his big robot, house burning music. Except I bet they'd make, like, two crazillion dollars.
  21. You don't deserve them.
  22. Wow, highly cool. The version of Fischerspooner's Just Let Go is very cool.
  23. Where do you normally go for interesting samples? (Ones that people aren't using to death, like Hollywood and Hindu stuff.)
