I guess in response, glad you could relate. Oh, and as for the speakers, I really wish I had an opinion on these, but based on reviews across the board, aside for being used in a live band and drummers...some say they can overpower the drum others say they cannot....i've read everything but bad reviews. They're apparently revered as the speakers for people on a budget and they work as they should for all situations. And they are rugged enough to throw into your car and go or whatever. They even have a bag with roller wheels with two compartments for each speaker. Pretty slick setup there, especially for those 15-20 people parties out in the woods with your friends camping. Don't use a whole lot of power, either....you could fill the generator up once and go all night! -d

I only have used the 450's and I've been in another guy's studio using the 1232's? or whatever, the bigger ones. They sounded awesome. Anyways, you can just send the 1029's to me Nemo. I'll pay for shipping and take good care of them [or trade them up for something better?] -d

Mackie SRM450's yo! I had a set of these back in my wannabe DJ days. Since I sucked at spinning, I spent more time in the studio listening to vinyl and smoking herbage than mixing and it was fun. These SRM450's are somewhat portable, I'd say a trunk but are going to cost singly as much as this whole yamaha kit costs...but more power I however have learned that mackies are not the studio monitors I want, but some genelec 1029 a's are in place. I actually got to hear them side by side and for the same price range, the genelecs totally blew the hr824s away!@# like whoa. -d

Also, do note sequencing a daisy chain introduces a delay especially to the last synth in the daisy. It's best just to spend 15-20 dollars and buy a MIDI patch bay [i personally recommend using the Kawai MAV-8, it's simple and pure and will last forever] and that'll eliminate any lag between midisnd -> midirec on the 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th synth. It's small, but if you let that sequence run on for awhile, it'll become inherently noticeable after awhile. -d

...working...on...it....slow............site.....taking...............forever.........not.a.......paying............member..........ugh.......... i........will.never................click...........on.................a.megaupload................link..............again...........................wow........ from 500k a sec to 10k a sec, this is going to be awhile. :-/ Finally! What a good demon. I just listened to one of the most fascinating arp 2600 demos I've ever heard too. Analog is my friend. I don't know why I even bothered with an ITB setup :-D thanks for sharing that, nn. Aaron -
nevermind.

If I had all the money in the world *dreams*. I wouldn't be sitting on psynews right now -d

I'm fucking happy!@# I'm getting a prophet 08 and an andromeda a6 and I'll have enough to either buy a jomox 999 drum machine or wait for the boomchik and I'm thinking the latter!!! Also, will have enough money left to buy my monitors!@ I just acquired some more cash. I got a deal on an Andromeda like minutes ago. Go listen to this demo here: definitely one of the best demos of the A6 i've heard... Wow, wow, wow!@ I'm going to sell my last Linn Sequencer to buy a modular keyboard/computer/all-in-one stand. What's next? a nice new monophonic synthesizer, preferably a table top unit. There's a lot of WINNING analog gear coming out now. I cannot believe I got clouded by the vintage market wooooowzers. -d

Maybe they just don't like the idea of keeping Turkey in the dark ages? Hahaha. Just kidding el! I've imported some illegal electronics here into the United States in the past. Yupiteru scanners...I am glad the shipping company based in England worked with me to make it seem like a computer interface of some sort. But I don't think customs ever went through it and we never have to pay a customs tax in the US that I am aware of? -d

REGER IS READING PSYNEWS? NO WAY!@# I suddenly feel complete again. On any note, I actually paid 250usd for the one I am selling with the broken slider but the condition of the unit and the fact that it is a 100% functional even with that broken slider [using a toothpick] made it worthy of 250usd. Honestly, when I saw it, I tried it out, didn't even really look at the sliders, got it home, brought it upstairs, looked at the thing and said WTF THE SLIDER'S BROKEN?!@ Went down to the car to look, no sign, then I realized I didn't really pay much attention. Did the testing, found a new slider for sale online for 15 bucks plus five for the slider cap, so really, I paid 270 dollars for it I guess but have not installed the new slider leaving that for the buyer. Seeing the condition of this is the best on ebay in awhile except maybe that one that sold for 970 dollars , I am hoping I can at least get half of that or a little more. It will be used towards my monitor fund. In the mean time, here's what I'm picking up 1x alesis andromeda a6 1x jomox 999 drum machine [was going to get the drummachine but after much listening, i prefer the jomox 999 and it's analog sound ] 1x monophonic tabletop synthesizer [i want a future retro 777, but not at a price of 1300 dollars, so i'm looking for something else and have not quite found it] 2x mackie hr824's That will leave me with enough money for rent for two months and enough money for lots of food, drink, and gas money while I find a cheap 8 dollar an hour job. Definitely a step down from 23 bucks an hour at my last job, hah. Sacrifices. If the Alesis Andromeda cannot be had by November 23rd for a decent price, I am going to buy the Prophet 08 outright since that day, November 23rd, I can buy it for a total of 1704 with tax from a local shop with 20% off that day only Aaron

I hope you guysdfklsjdfadf i am confused nevermind what i said here. I wouldn't pay more than 250 USD for a Juno. Guess that's why mine is still sitting at the 120 dollar mark hah. -d

First impression of the Prophet 08
devious replied to devious's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I don't dobt the A6, I just wish I could find one already for a good going price that somebody will confirm all voices for me if I have to buy it without seeing it. Right about the poly, it is expensive, but you do get what you paid for in the market of synths. It's like they say, all it requires for a virtual analog is a motorola dsp chip and somebody who knows c++, but when it comes to designing and laying out a full analog, you need somebody with credentials who has a lot of physics under their belt. -d -
First impression of the Prophet 08
devious replied to devious's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
No, the P8 didn't suck, it was pretty good. I mean afterall, it's the sound were after right? I'm just hesitant over the build quality because I am looking for the perfect setup to gig with that can hold up in a case. I mean, I take extremely good care of my stuff even if it's being brought back and forth to my friend's studio all of the time. I am worried the P8 would not hold up so well under gigging. Like, doing live stuff, and suddenly a pot breaks because of their flimsiness. I played with the poly evolver. The knobs on it are nice, still a tad bit of play, but much better in the quality area of things. I guess Dave sacrificed build quality for features in the P08 and gave the poly evolver only four voices and put the money more towards the build quality me thinks. I have not touched the mono evolver so I couldn't tell you a comparison between the poly and mono, sorry. Actually, I just posed the question about Alesis' A6's knobs on Gearslutz.com - hoping to get a good answer as to what I want to hear, like what you just said. Also, I like red better. Especially during the night, as an astronomer, a space geek, we can only use red light to see, it does not affect our night time vision nearly as much, although a tiny bit. Looking into a blue led and looking up at the stars just doesn't work very well. A red led will permit you to look down, modulate, and than look up at the stars and still see stars. Heheh. -d -
Yeah, they'd take it and beat it to death! And that would suck for the condition this one is in [minus the slider] I just shipped the MKS50 to Italy and the MKS80 to Finland today! -d

Since this has become MY THREAD! Hahaha, :-P I am announcing that so far through vintage gear sales I've accumlated 3300 dollars. This essentially means that I am very close to having an entire new setup aside from my mixer and sequencer. My Juno 106 is being sold right now so that will be another 350-400 dollars added to that total or more [i saw a Juno in the condition mine is in except I have the broken slider sell for 920 dollars recently on egay!!! now that'd be cool ]. I have 2 people who are offering me their andromedas, and I am trying to find more information due to the A6 issues last year. Sooooo really it boils down to which is going to be a better purchase from whom. Remember, I am starting from scratch and am trying to limit the max amount of keyboards to 3 [2x poly, 1x mono] and 2-3 'little' box synths or desktop synths than some efx! After playing with the prophet 08, I agree with el brujo, it's a champion, aside from the knobs really and the location of the mod/pitch wheels. If I can scramble the funds together for one of those, I may just add that to the A6 and then get a Moog Lil Phatty as the mono. We'll see what I ultimately end up with, but whatever it is, it's going to be phat and fun!!! (only if I had an additionaly 4k to spend!!@) Aaron

Today I spent 2 1/2 hours playing with one. It was fun. I really really really now would like to have one more than ever, HOWEVER!!!! Despite the phatness it gave, it had a lot of depth and oraganic sound to it......the knobs, those knobs....those fucking knobs. I am serious, for 2k dollars, that's what he's offering for knobs? Those things were so fragile and had so much wobble in them, I almost shat myself. I could not believe those were left out! The pitch/mod wheel also sucks. It should had been down below next to the keys, but doesn't get in the way. I really had fun with it, really! The sweeps are incredible. It's nice seeing which of the voices you're using too versus all the vintage shit I really think it was great, really! Although, for durability, I am a bit concerned. But man, if you want some crazy alien landscape sounds, this is one badass synthesizer. el brujo, it's a r0x0rz j0r s0x0rz kind of synth, indeed. I am just worried about the pots/knobs being so wobbly. Dave should had went all out on those. I also didn't like the control. It was hard getting a particular when turning the knob. Any of them, it seemed to skip values, er I should say maybe too sensitive? Okay, I admit it, I'm now ready to buy one , but will wait until the price drops a little bit. Because of the knob issue, I find it worth considerably less. Even the Evolver has strong knobs [as bad as it sounds]. I did play with an evolver too, but I really like the idea of a couple hundred dollars less and 2 extra voices. I wouldn't really mind having all of the DSI shit now! Hah! I'm in heaven. So yes, if you're a hardware dude, go get one, at least give it a try. But don't break those knobs tweakin it. I almost did, man! -d

I got this album along with Healer - Wunderground from my ex for my birthday one year, along with a real meteorite [i'mma astro nerd really]. It was a happy present. I've since sold my music but...it was probably the nicest thing she had ever done aside from bearing my son. Aaron

I have to agree with everything the other two said. If you wanted it that much, you wouldn't have to ask somebody else and therefore you should not do it and you should stick with FL. And Otto clearly states....and for a date or two. Come on, you'll need money for girls. Hehe! -d

WARNING: Bad Discogs seller: Sualk
devious replied to PsyGoatDelic's topic in Buyer/ Seller Feedback
Heh, well, something obviously came up. He could had been in a car accident lying in a hospital bed for all you knew. I can imagine, having something in the car, driving down the road going to the postal office to ship it, but never arriving there only to be side swiped and killed. The person that was to receive the item decides to go on an internet forum, like psynews, and say hey, so and so isn't responding to me, i think he ripped me off while all the better of so and so rests peacefully in a grave. Although the above is just hypothetical, give him a break, something somewhere could have gone wrong in life temporarily or even permanently. But then........ I'm just wondering, I don't follow your english 100%, but did he send you copies of the cds he was supposed to send you and not the actual cds instead? That's kind of shitty. It's like you would had paid for shipping to him, and got nothing out of the deal other than some crummy cdrs and your cds back at a cost that you put forth. ugh. -d -

Haha, you are so busted Mars! Well, thanks for sharing the music though and I do agree about the quality back then. I'm happy with flac these days personally. woot! Anyways, funny how that works. It just so happened to be MARS on those two tracks ;> -d -
Hey brujo, i'm hoping getting rid of the Juno and a couple other things will help me get to the point where I can buy both the A6 and the Prophet8. Now I wonder what a used prophet 8 will b going for in a month or so? hehehe. Some people do that [like I just did with all this vintage gear] As for the mks, I didn't want that much for it, I just did that to see where it'd go, somebody from russia bought it for that price and paid right away, i was like whoa. startled really. sooooooo oh well! plenty of money to spend on some gear! two synths and some new monitors, woo woo! Bed time. Good night. Aaron
