  1. Great topic. Great discussion. Kris, how can I get one of your CDs? I wanna check it out. Sherlockalien's visiting Tash and perhaps he could bring me a copy - cheaper shipping to Spain. I'll pay somehow.. my brother lives in Ireland.. or paypal? I want to add my thoughts about digital media. Right now I would much rather go to a store and pay let's say 50-1.50 USD for a single track, loss less format (.wav or .flac) from the labels' websites than go to DC++ and try to find the track, the remix I want, etc... to download for free. I like the convenience of having the music on a good website I can find whenever I want. And I'd pay for that. Take Digital Structures (I think).. or was it Iboga? Selling music... but come on.. @ 1-2 EUR (USD?) for a 320kbps MP3. That's disrespectful. That's asking people to download it from somewhere for free. If the own labels can't provide quality music, they won't be able to get their sales up in my opinion. Because I look for good quality music and I am willing to pay for it! I'd rather have a 1.50 USD .wav than a free mp3 file. Discuss.
  2. Hmmm.. Dude... Will Saul - Mbira (Infusion remix) Sweet track. Let's hope it won't be playing full power full on at first moment of 2006 @ UP. I'd like something with more 'charm' See you @ UP, Traveller
  3. Problem with "scene" is that we got too many experts trying to define it. If 1200 Mics was called "Black metal" I would still dance to it at a party. Now I see why Rain left. Can we have more open minded Tatsu's around
  4. I'll probably get them on the 11th of January... And yes... Tribal/Proggy.. that's what I want Thanks, guys!
  5. Reviews on these? What do you guys think of these records? I'm trying to put a set together. There's some stuff I liked but it is not available. The "Antix - Twin Coast remixes" for example, not on 12" or just out of stock everywhere... Beckers and D-Nox: Dynamic Blue [Vapour 1EP] Chris Pointdexter: Bayo [Acid Casualities 1EP] Chris Pointdexter: Darkness [spiral Trax 1EP] D-Nox: Seven Hours [Electribe Records 1EP] James Monro: Battered [Flow 1EP] Martin H: It Aint Easy [invent Recordings 1EP] Martin H: Rows Above [Electribe Records 1EP] Martin H and Solouk: Sounds Reviving [invent Recordings 1EP] Ticon: Zero Six After [Digital Structures 2LP] Tim Fishbeck: React [sprout 1EP]
  6. Any stores in the USA? My parents are flying to NYC for New Year's and the shipping from Europe (Trance-shop, Psyshop, etc..) is quite expensive.. like minimum of 25 USD/EUR + 1-2 USD/EUR per record.. Big stores in the US don't have psy at all!
  7. Browsing through Psyshop, Saikosounds and Juno I see there are plenty of good releases of progressive trance (as in Ticon/Son Kite/D-Nox/Antix/etc) in 12", but it's hard to find most of them IN STOCK. Do you guys know any stores with great inventory? Thanks in advance BTW -> I'm taking recommendations on other artists with the same style: melodic dance floor appropriate progressive trance...
  8. I haven't heard much from Suntrip, but I am willing to help putting Suntrip in touch with party promoters here and perhaps some distributors. My msn is rafaelabreu@hotmail.com Give me a link (PM or email thebadtrip at gmail d0t c0m ) to samples of Suntrip releases and I'll check them out. Glad to help Suntrip and the brazilian scene
  9. Atmos - '2nd Brigade' is a fantastic album. Transmission in Vain being my favorite track in it, followed by Scent of a Tunnel, both part of my proggie trance set.
  10. I liked the humor, the pictures and all. Wicked And the album is so good it helps being reviewed.! Keep up the good humor
  11. Why not saving a bit more and buying a one-level-higher interface for example? Perhaps it would solve both problems with quality sound and ports available. I have no idea how much more it would be though.
  12. Hmmm.. a waterfall without consistency. As a first mix I understand. It's okay, doesn't bother me.. but I'd rather listen to the coming mixes Abraço
  13. It's a great dance floor track I'll see if I can find tha tune! Swwweeeetttt
  14. Up, since someone asked about a Top10.
  15. I'll check those out. HOMmega is my fave label I'd say.. Shortlived psy listener.
  16. I was practicing at home and my brother showed up and gave it a go on Prog trance.. when he put my headphones on he was like "you will go deaf if you keep the volume like this" and said he uses his headphone with very low levels.. Let's say the headphone's volume knob is around 7-15% turned only. And he uses it stereo.. One side with the main channel, other side with closed channel. I, as a beginner with little time to practice, need the volume around 20-25% and I mix both main and closed channels in both sides/ears of the headphone.. The split 1-channel-each-side setup doesn't quite help me. I've seen people who DJ for 3-4 years with crazy-high volumes.. What do you guys suggest? Volume-wise, stereo or split? Comments?
  17. Forgot to mention them as well. I did listen to some of their stuff, but didn't find Antix quite as "forward-paced" music. Antix sounded a bit too repetitive. I'll give them another listened... Thanks
  18. By the way... I am looking for artists that produce stuff like Ticon, Son Kite's latest album (Colours), Atmos - 2nd Brigade, Vibrasphere.. melodic, upbeat music.. I find it hard to find. I listened to Andromeda, Jaia.. but didn't think they were as 'danceable' as those mentioned right above.. you know.. more FUN..
  19. GREAT!!! I'll check those stores out! The problem for me is that if I buy the CD and have it shipped to Brazil I'll be taxed so it's gonna be expensive.. If I get the .WAV or 320kbps MP3s I'm not taxed and I get good quality music to put in my sets And alien! Stop bitching about the .wavs You keep the FLAC, I keep the WAV. I played "In Stereo" (I only remembered the track number because of sherlockalien's comments here!!! I almost fucked the mixing because I only remembered the number with 1min20sec left and my beat matching skills aren't good enough yet ) in my proggie/house set and it worked.. alright The progtrance set I added Analogue H (track 9), Six Years After (track 10) and... hmmm In the Dirt (4?) The complete set list is on http://www.fotolog.net/thebadtrip And I ALMOST played the Son Kite - Focus track, but it was already around 1am so I decided to finish and head back home with my decks.
  20. I didn't go.. I chose to play 2 1h sets at this barbecue, a friend's birthday. It was the first time I played for people OUTSIDE of my bedroom at home and it was a lot of fun. Not many people there, but I played sort of a 1h prog house set and a 1h prog trance set.. something like that.. the set lists are on my Fotolog (mind the portuguese..., but you will understand the track listing hehe) People Goa Gil was exactly what I heard on some samples online and what you guys mentioned... Fast Beat Dark Psy... which I dislike. The people who went said it was very good, the party spot was incredible.. but there was no food to sell, no decent bathrooms.. and the cops arrived around 9am - party started 7pm the day before - and ended the event.. So I am glad I didn't go and had fun playing for the first time. Back to the cd decks to practice some more, back to the cd shops to listen to some more and get some more music to prepare another few sets Thanks for all the feed backs here.
  21. Are they musically/technically bad? That's my point. If they are bad musicians, no creativity, no good technique, fine.. I should agree. I just don't like when people express their feelings about music they don't like negatively... saying for example "Infected Mushroom is mediocre" when they're not.
  22. Which MP3 Store sells trance? Do they sell .wav too?
  23. Thanks for adding so much of your opinion to the thread. You rock!
