  1. As far as I know, no parties has been announced yet, but I'm pretty sure they will be
  2. Nah, just in the begining, you hear a KO-KO. From one of those clocks/cartoon sfx. Check it.
  3. That's not exactly close to Vangelis nor Pete Namlook, now is it?
  4. True, but a lot more music is being released now aswell. Just a quick check Boris Blenn - Portamento 160bpm (released 1995) Transwave - Axonal 150bpm (Released 1995) O.O.O.D. - Slence 154bpm (Released 1996) My point is just that high bpms in trance isn't something new at all. But now a lot people have got this idea that high bpm = hard/killar/dark/whatever, and that's a load of bull.

    bpm

I've had it up in 165 on a few occations.
  6. What about goa tunes from 95-98 in 150-160 bpm?

I think he meant that one of the synths/melodies were out of key compared to the rest of the track?

I've always liked music at +3%. Pitching down is for old ladies.
  9. My favorite Vangelis albums are the Blade Runner soundtrack and El Greco. And Pete Namlook ... He's done so much great music, it's hard to point out one album (I couldn't even do that with vangelis, haha). Anyways, check out the two albums he and Geir Jenssen (Biosphere) has done, The Fires of Orc (1 and 2). Solarized is also a damn fine album, and also his Moog series done with Klaus Schulze are very good, check the "best of"; The Evolution of the Dark Side of the Moog. Also, the album from Pete Namlook I've listened to the most is perhaps the 4voice album from 1992, but that's not only ambient, most of the tracks are 4x4 trance tracks, a few ambient tracks and even a couple of hardcore tracks. I didn't keep this short and helpful, sorry.

    OOOD

Yeah, it said so in the pulse 4 cover didn't it?
  11. You forgot the magic word you learned the other day, IMHO.
  12. Then you've been to the wrong party! I've been to my share of shitty parties, also my share of kickass parties. I was a home listener for many years myself, since I was too young to get into any of the parties, so I know the feeling.
  13. Again, exactly A few tracks will be remebered as great classics, but sadly, most tracks will be forgotten. Look at the number of artists/labels/releases these days, it's no secret that most of these will fade away in time.
  14. Exactly, psytrance is dance music. Meaning it gets worn out, and forgotten after some time. But it does serve it's purpose on the dancefloor.

Yeah, it has happened to me a few times. Not much though, but I guess it can get worse
  16. Exactly. But people heard it 10 times a day, and then they started liking it.
  17. This is not exactly news. At least it shouldn't be to people like us (who don't listen to mainstream music). As long as a track gets pushed enough on radio/tv people will start liking it. A good example is the Idol shit that's going on these days. Another example I can think of is "flat beat" by Mr. Oizo. If that track didn't hadn't been in that levis add, how many people do you think would have liked that track?
  18. Sweet thread. I'm better than you.
