Shpongle - Ineffable Mysteries From Shpongleland
Snapinho replied to MattMan's topic in General Psytrance
I agree, I Am You sounds horribly cheesy... I can't stand those vocals, they give me the shivers. -
No harm intended, I just found it odd that you would post the link to Isratrance and wouldn't post the content itself here... if your aim was to promote the artist, surely it would get more attention had it been posted at both locations. But whatever, nice job doing the interview. Post it here and I just might read it!

I fully agree with Seraph's description and opinion. That SS officer is brilliant; excellent acting, great character, very cool anti-hero. Brad Pitt's acting didn't really convince me actually, it seemed more like a trick he's good at doing, but didn't excel at perfecting his character, if you ask me. I wasn't completely blown away by this movie though, but that might be because expectations are almost too high when it comes to Tarantino-flicks. The way they pervayed the Nazis was too funny for words... and the scene when the Bear Jew comes out of the tunnel... Hilarious! Recommended to watch in a cinema near you, for sure.

Man... why not post the content here instead of linking to Isratrance? I understand you get paid for doing interviews, but I refuse to fall for it by having to check out Isratrance. You can post both the interview AND the link, right? Either post it here, or don't post anything at all.

First thoughts on The Orb - Baghdad Batteries: NICE! Sounds like classy, oldschool and sometimes even outright trippy Orb stuff. Am positively surprised by this. Review might follow soon. Might also not follow, who can say for certain in these most uncertain of times, eh?

There's been tons of topics on Dub if you search well in the Psytrance section. I always post the same stuff: The originators: King Tubby Mad Professor Lee Perry French dub bands: Alpha and Omega Zenzile Kaly Live Dub High Tone Kiwi dub crews: Salmonella Dub The Black Seeds Fat Freddy's Drop Pitch Black Some recommended covered albums: Spacemonkeyz vs. Gorillaz - Laika Come Home Mad Professor vs. Massive Attack - No Protection VA - I'll Be Black (picked by The Orb) Other shit The Tassilli Players Dubphonic Dub Syndicate Adrian Sherwood (a lot of stuff off of his On-U Sound label as well) Ooooh well. I know I have tons more names but it's too early to remember everything. Enjoy these!

What the dude above me said. Kool Keith in most incarnations is dope shit! And psychedelic, spaced-out raps... he has a weird flow though, that you gotta learn to appreciate. Also agree about Doggystyle and The Chronic. Classic West Coast shit, Snoop Dogg's debut still gets a lot of play in my cd player, I think I know all lyrics by heart by now. Hehe.

Really? I found it incredibly lame and completely pointless. He didn't prove a single point imho, and it wasn't funny at all...

Compositions or Productions made in a psychiatric environment
Snapinho replied to 0daybrain's topic in General Psytrance
Although it's not exactly what you meant, I suggest you watch the movie Berlin Calling. Paul Kalkbrenner plays the role of a producer who has a psychotic episode and ends up in a psychiatric institute, where he keeps producing new music. Fun movie too! But otherwise I have to disappoint you. -
What About A Rating System In The Review Section?
Snapinho replied to psytones's topic in General Psytrance
Didn't find them in the 1990-1994 Review section, but otherwise I think this is a very nice addition to the board. Nice1 mars! -

What music are you listening to right now?
Snapinho replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
Aavepyörä - Kuuntele Tää (off the album Electro Fluoro Punx) I hardly ever listen to psytrance any more, but this tickles my dancing muscles! Really funny, groovy and trippy stuff. I like! Heard it when I shuffeled my whole hard disk because I had no idea what to listen to, and got stuck on this... nice! -
Guys, please, enough discussion already. Let's continue this topic about Amon Tobin, alright? Did I mention I really like Cujo?
-
I'm guessing he means: Elysium - Tracktitle (2009 club mix) [Weirdomusic Records]
-
How is DJ'ing illegal exactly? Just curious.

Murphy, I'm sorry if you don't see it this way, but in our most humble opinions, Amon Tobin is an innovative artist, someone who mixed genres and created a whole new style that hadn't existed before him. Dig? Sure you can compare certain elements of his music to other artists, but his music as a whole cannot be adequately compared to any one artist that I know off, and certainly not to those that you mentioned. I mean, Venetian Snares? Come on... breakcore / drill 'n bass or whatever is very hard to compare to the funky, jazzy, sampled, cut up and broken beats that are Amon Tobin's trademark. If you can give me a youtube link to a song of one of the artists you mentioned, and compare that to an Amon Tobin song, I'm willing to follow where you're headed... but otherwise I have to give you the disadvantage of the doubt... Now back ON TOPIC! Cujo - Adventures in Foam. Wow! Excellent album that I only recently discovered, and I'm in love with it. Very most excellent stuff. Is there anything along those veins that anyone can recommend me? Not necessarily Tobin himself.
-
There were a lot of recommendations in this thread, so I didn't wanna bother writing the same shit in a new topic. Ch-ch-check it out yo!
-
That's my point exactly.
-
^ NOT comparable at all! Do you really know what you're talking about? Not trying to diss this time, Amon Tobin and these artists are just not comparable at all...
-
Hehehehe. Brilliant.
