  1. Perhaps: Wankle Rotary Engine =) a) Yes Hello c) Good Evening! (for you monty python fans) -ensign
  2. really? http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=habbit better check your dictionary, Bilbo -ensign
  3. go, eleria! btw, traveller, if you are going to comment on other people's spelling (cruisade) then you should learn to spell h-a-b-i-t. perhaps you were referring to a hobbit? =) -ensign
  4. dude, wtf are you talking about? now you are accusing people of wasting their life away on drugs if they aren't buying music??? hahahah WOW, you are ridiculous! And the point is WHO IS THE "THEM"?? if it's an old release, "them" sure as hell ain't "the artist". jeez! -ensign ps - if I didn't know better, i'd say that you are upset that you AREN'T the only person listening to those "sweet, sweet, sweet" twisted promos
  5. exactly, rain... the fact that you can NOT buy them, unless you want to spend $30+ bucks on rare albums, and then the money does not go to the artist, but rather to some jerk who realized that b\c the albums are so rare, some people will pay ungodly amounts (actually, i dont fault the sellers, they are simply doing good business). also, i second your nomination as Traveller being the pathetic one for name-calling/labeling without any justification. nor does he care to back it up, now that we have spoken. obviously we should be supporting the current artists.... i just don't think any of us wish to support the scalpers. perhaps we should scalp traveller? =) -ensign
  6. you're entitled to your opinion i suppose, even if it is wrong =) i really believe the album is meant to be taken as a whole... immortal and fundamental may not be the best tracks on the album, but they fit perfectly the state of unrest for the journey that is the album. personally, wavy gravy is my favorite track, with bloodlock as a close second... but i can't ever just listen to one track. i know some of you must feel this way about other albums.... that they must be taken as a whole or not at all. any album "experiences" you guys would recommend as a whole (one's where you can't declare "wtf is this track doing in here?" and where there is a smooth progression for the entirety)? tgiam (thank god it ain't monday) -ensign

sweet, sounds awesome =) where did you see him? and any idea when the next album might be? cheers -ensign
  8. heyas all... wondering if any of you know if the voice near the beginning of Entheogenic - Invisible Landscapes is the same as the voice in Shpongle - New Way to Say Hooray... anyone know? and yeah, this is of little importance... just curious =) (which may kill my avatar) -ensign
  9. lol sure... it all starts out that way =) anyway, as far as your whining about having 5 Gigs... dude, you have quite a few CDs, right? Just rip them at 192 or higher bitrate. yeah, it'll take a little while, but in the end it is worth it, as Soulseek is absolute horse-poo compared to DC++. And in the end, ripping your CDs will help you, because a) CDs are on their way out (for listening, not purchasing), CDs hold a meager amount of data/audio c) you should be backing up your CDs ANYWAY to prevent the constant threat of scratching them and turning them to shit d) you'll eventually get a HD mp3 player, and having ripped all your stuff, you will be quite thankful that the work is already done for you. sure, it takes a little time, but in the end you'll be able to "sample" to your heart's content. -ensign
  10. bluetech - elementary particles is quite chill... prima materia is only so-so. def not psy, but my all-time fav album to chill to is Sasha - Airdrawndagger. It really can't be categorized, and is the smoothest, most liquid, most beautiful music i've ever laid ears on. too bad after this experimental collaboration he went back to doing more mainstream electronica. Even the album cover is f'ing sweet:
  11. I really like the intro to: Hallucinogen In Dub - A Floating Butterfly Stings Like a Bee strangely though, i'm not a big fan of the rest of the track =) -ensign
  12. hmm, maybe... but imo the very end of the track was where it was building to something better... and the sample just leaves you hanging. but i suppose this is a moot point until we hear the damn thing in its entirety.. my point was just that you can't always judge a track by its sample =) -ensign
  13. hmm, i can hear a few similarities btwn that track and scanner, but from the preview, it doesn't seem like we are even shown the main melody of the song. similar rhythm though... -ensign
  14. Sounds to me you have more of a bone to pick with Chris than anything else, regarding the royalties you never received off the CD... Obviously that sucks, and I'd no doubt be suspicious of/talk shit about him if he had done that to me as well. I also agree that it's unfair how so much has been focused into the Tsunami Disaster, when countless other causes go unlooked at by the media/masses. For the sheer amount of newspapers, cameras, journalists, reporters, humanitarians in this world, it's pretty sad how poor the overall global awareness is regarding people in need. One of the biggest problems is that it often takes the ability to relate and empathize to be aroused enough to donate money. In the case of the Tsunami, the world saw that as a very real threat to themselves, meaning, EVERYONE (who would be watching TV) has been to a beach, and could imagine themselves being swallowed by the ocean... or what would happen to their children were they left behind as orphans... But something like a barbaric civil war/horrendous genocide... most of the world is so far removed from knowing real war, knowing the threat of guns/bombs etc etc, that it can be way harder to get people to try to relate and in turn donate to a worthy cause. So what if Organic is doing some promotion along the way... I do think it is respectable for anyone to put something like that together. It's not HIS fault that the tsunami is one of the few causes for which people will actually contribute/buy the CDs. Maybe the results of this compilation will inspire him to put together more releases that would donate towards OTHER causes? who knows... but maybe an African AIDs relief CD or something of the sort (maybe just wishful thinking on my part). -ensign ps - E.P. - wtf is up with your avatar? =) i've been trying to figure out if you are sticking a rabbit or cat up your nose or something heheh
  15. <cough> cunt <cough> did somebody say something? not me!
  16. hmmmm... two albums reviewed. Or we could just continue coming here and get reviews on 100s of albums and varying points of view by having multiple people review within the same thread. it helps when you have many people reviewing and giving their opinions, because you start to be able to predict what you might like/not like based on other peoples' tastes. long live psynews.org =) -ensign
  17. heheh yeah.. the vocals are absolutely terrible and just make a shitty song worse. i'd say though that if anything we could thank the clubs for encouraging this kind of trite bullshit. and we could thank the mainstream idiots that are intimidated by songs unless they have something identifiable (the human voice), which then tells artists that in order to get more money, they've got to serve up some cheese with their wine. As always, attempts at reaching out to the mainstream do nothing but evoke contempt within the faithful followers that were already at home with what they believed to be (and is) great music. It's not that if suddenly some psytrance group/album was able to break through the barrier and appeal to both the loyal psytrancers and the mainstreams, it should be considered shitty... but the fact that in general, mainstream music is absolute crap that is specifically engineered for and aimed at certain age groups and ethnicities, so anything the masses like should immediately (with good cause) make us suspicious. -ensign

nada mucho man... it's snowing here. and you're right in terms of people judging based on style. style is way more subjective than is production. and to see production you have to step back and look at the total picture.... which is hard to do for some fanboys of this or that. -ensign
  19. personally, i find Windows Sound Recorder to be the best music making tool ever created. With effects like "Increase Volume", "Decrease Speed", and "Add Echo", who can deny its greatness? It will even let you save as a fully uncompressed wave file! I hear Cubase and Logic programmers are attempting to port over this incredible tool, but are finding it rather difficult as its functions are so complex that some might even claim Aliens must have coded it. -Bill Gates
  20. IM - Dancing with Kadafi (whatever the hell this should be categorized as) and X-Dream - Our Own Happiness -ensign

No offense, but attempting to create patterns of the quality of a group's releases is... to put it bluntly, retarded. You'll find that people's tastes differ so much that there is absolutely no real correlation between what you consider your pattern to everyone else's pattern. Take IM for example. An agreement can't even be reached as to when their peak was reached. Some say The Gathering, some say Classical Mushroom. And of course you have the 12 year olds that think IM the Supervisor is some "phat shiznit". Also, most bands evolve, and never (well almost never, because I'll obviously get some obscure example shoved down my throat) do they evolve in a cyclical pattern. Meaning, they won't wind up producing an album later in their evolution that sounds like an earlier one (if that is what you are looking for to call "good"). cheers -ensign

  23. nah... it's alright. i did get a little defensive, but it's all good. i'm not F'd up now, thank goodness =) and you are so right as far as the people closest to you having the most potential to do you harm. congrats on having found a new interest though (the girl you were talking about). I definitely lucked out on the girl i'm with now, and it probably won't be too long before i make it a bit more official take it easy... -ensign
  24. lol well, when you find out your gf cheated on you while you were watching HER baby, a baby who for a period of time you thought could be your daughter, and you only wanted to be your daughter so that she wouldnt wind up like her mother, an abused heroin addict from the great state of west virginia..... now there is a saga of psychosis. thankfully this girl is long gone and in the past, just wish that she hadn't been part of MY past. so next time don't jump to conclusions on other people's mental conditions in the crazy gamut we call "love" that can incorporate anything from puppy love to heartbreak to euphoria to desperation. it's all there, psychosis included (if you are unlucky enough). i'm not meaning to sound like an ass to you, but until you walk a mile in a man's shoes... -ensign
  25. actually... based on dictionary.com's definition: psy·che·del·ic Audio pronunciation of "psychedelic" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (sk-dlk) adj. Of, characterized by, or generating hallucinations, distortions of perception, altered states of awareness, and occasionally states resembling psychosis. ...except for the hallucinations... i've definitely had distorted perception and temporary psychosis due to love... or what i thought was love at the time =) -ensign
