  1. I understand murphy when he says that he finds Kettel extremly psychedelic and thus, is posting in the psy section. There are indeed musics that i find a lot more "psy" than 90% of the albums listed (basically almost everything that came out since ~2000) and i totally understand his feelings. On the other hand, the psychedelic term is more often than not used for music that make us feel a strong emotion, and take us on a trip rather than it belonging to the "psy scene". With that in mind, psychedelism is totally subjective and anyone can find anything psychedelic. But the fact is, Kettel isn't labelled as psychedelic music (let alone psytrance) and whether someone finds it psychedelic or not is irrelevant if the purpose of the reviews forum is to review albums belonging to the psytrance (and psybient so it seems) scene. Personally i don't mind seeing idm albums on the reviews section once in a while, but that would open the door to a very undesired possibily: that anyone finding an album psychedelic - no matter what style is it labelled - could write a review in the reviews forum. If that was allowed then i see no reasons why we wouldn't have some hardstyle/house/tektonik/etc reviews.. and that's something i really wouldn't like to see. I thank you murphy for the time you put in writing your review, and i hope you won't be offended nor stop talking about the music you like if its being moved to the "Other Electronica" section.. but thats what would make the most sense to me really. P.S: Sorry for the off topic.
  2. I've had an email conversation with him last year, he was planing to work on new tracks again by 2009. Nothing official there though.
  3. That would be sweet E-Mantra is one of my favourite current artist.
  4. I think i've changed my mind about it. IFO has some stronger tracks, but also has some that i don't like at all. Tetrahedron is more constant, it's much more enjoyable to listen to it from start to finish (for me). So if i could change my vote, it would now go toward Tetrahedron!
  5. I don't have the answer to that question, but all i know is that in France it is very hard to organise any outdoor party. The governements always had and still have a very "anti drugs" and "anti rave" mentality, which is leading to a quasi non-existence of a scene (at least outdoor). I'd say 99% of outdoors parties are electro/house stuff, with the odd hardstyle/psytrance/ambient party happening once in a blue moon. That being said, there always was some great french artists (do i need to mention Total Eclipse, Transwave, BPC, Aes Dana, Khetzal, etc..?) and we have a dedicated french goa forum, so our community is big enough and still well active. I'm not into this genre since a very long time and i can't really explain how it started here, but i know that the main french "dancefloor oriented" radio used to play some goa sets back in the 90s, so that probably made a lot of ppl discover the goa scene eventhough there was like 0 big goa events.
  6. E-Mantra - Radiant Vision 2003 Not so old, but thats a very underated gem (and artist) imo.
  7. Deviant Electronics - When Then Is Now

  10. Nice review Jon once again, always a pleasure to read. Btw.. it's the first time you give a full A to a "newschool" album isn't it?
  11. The Ultrasone are sold. Price drop on the AD2000, they're now 395€ shipped!
  12. I agree, those weren't my words btw.
  13. Well there is a difference between finding a music good, and enjoying this music. I agree that the artists you mentionned above are making great music and probably are very skilled musicians, but that alone won't necessarly makes me like it. So yeah i don't find it bad, as i said i've no problems saying it's very well made music, but it doesn't touch me in any way... just tastes really, as always
  14. RTP: you should give a try to the 2 Lifeforms albums as well as Cascade, they're much better than anything else FSOL has done imo. I also hated Dead Cities for the same reasons.
  15. Nice! Please tell us how the Adam are sounding when you get a chance, they look interesting. Edit: nvm, didn't see the other thread you created.
  16. I have the same feelings concerning the so called "psybient" than the OP. I've tried hard to see what there was to this music (most Ultimae stuff, Younger Brother, etc) and i just don't get it. The melodies, when there are some, are sounding very boring to me, and i don't understand where the music is going.. if its going anywhere that is. Of course i love some tracks here and there, like "Confusion Illusion" remixed by Solar Fields himself (Opus Iridium CD2), "MOS 6581" and "Photosynthesis" by CBL, "White Pixel" by Synch24, "Billy The Kid Strikes Back" by Ott, and some others; but 95% of what is said to be amazing psybient sounds just dull and empty to me, and i never understood why it was called psybient/goabient and not just ambient, since it has nothing to do with the psy/goa music (again, it's all IMO). I also agree on the chill out tracks at the end of a few goa albums, they're often amazing and are about the only tracks i could qualify as both psychedelic and chill out. A few of those tracks that are perfectly fitting those terms imo..: "Trippy Future Garden" - Planet B.E.N. "Source Of Emotion" - Paradise Connection "Intellectual" - Gamma
