Astral Projection - For All Mankind - 19 september
acid being replied to Trolsk's topic in General Psytrance
I heard it today. I enjoyed it quite a lot. In terms of style I feel that this is very much Another World part 2. I don't mind that at all, because I love Another World. Another World is maybe 10 to 15 % better than this, I would say. The acid didn't sound quite as good on this I think. Have to agree on a first listen that the mastering was not to my taste. It sounded like it had a bit too much treble, too thin. Maybe I can play with the EQ a bit. It was still a nice surprise and definitely something I will listen to every so often. I think I like it better than Dancing Galaxy, not sure yet. My favorite track is Into the Void which I loved. 7.8 / 10 -

listened to the album twice and sadly i don't like it all, and it won't grow on me the melodies are too simple and generic and they dont really evolve i've listenéd to the album on my kef r11 meta speakers, and the mastering and producting is very 'plastic', not organic, not dynamic, just plastic, only for that reason alone, i probably wont listen to it again the artwork is also very bad on the positive side, its still goa trance and not full on and it has a 90's feeling sometimes, and two minutes is made for dancefloors and will certainely work on that setting, but that's it really 5/10 -

I share the sentiment - it’s nice, atmospheric and nostalgic, but there are no real surprises. Nevertheless, I’m glad to see them back with new music after all these years. What I really dislike is the mastering - everything is so loud, and every sound layer is maxed out in terms of volume. Dynamically, it’s almost flat - just a hard wall of sound - and for me, that ruins the otherwise top-level production. There’s no fidelity. They did the same thing with Goa Classics Remixed. I guess it sounds “better” on (cheap) Bluetooth earbuds and headphones, which most people use. I tried it on both Tidal and Deezer - it sounds the same. Hopefully, the vinyl master will be different. -

I just listened to it. sadly none of the tracks really gets my attention. i remember last year they played new tracks to a festival somewhere, and i think it was a kind of tribute to nova festival. that was some veeeeery cool tracks they played, new fresh melodic and surprising. but none of those tracks seem to be on the new album. -

Out now in the EU. Have been silently waiting for years, with managed expectations. I will say, For All Mankind was clearly trying to merge the classic Astral Projection sound with more modern production. I *think* they've nailed this. I will be completely honest and say that the more progressive & full-on-ish stuff of the "Open Society"-era (with tracks that were released, such as Humans Will Play For Robots and more or less unreleased/not officiallyreleased ones such as Dominion, Dunes of Gold and lots of JMJ remixes) were actually some of my favorites due to the time when I got into Psytrance personally, and I still hope that the difficulties of that era can be left behind and those tracks fully released eventually, but I understand that this may never happen, for a variety of reasons. As for For All Mankind, I'll need some time to fully go through it a couple of times, but "For All Mankind" and "Two Minutes" are definitely my personal favorites so far, probably because they remind me of that more modern Open Society-era the most. -

What the motherfucking fuck? How glad am I that I am browsing threads from years and years since. I have everything from Gus Till on bandcamp except this which I was completely unaware of, and it was going to be released on FRR before it folded. I think I just came. Instabuy and it's pay what you want....sploosh

Subheim - Approach This is what you're looking for, even if you're not the OP, if you're looking for good expressive not too drone-like ambient, you'll love this

Any new music that comes in at 20 minutes plus? Honestly I love long tracks, as long as the thought has been put in to them, they sound so good.

This is some of the cheesiest stuff Shpongle has done, and that's saying a lot. On my DAP, in the Shpongle folder, this comes on right after AYS? And I generally skip the last track as it's just too cheesy and I don't feel like I am averse to cheese in general but this level of carnival/circus music is just a bit too much

Bluetech had continued to release a lot. Mostly of the Bluetech style and not so much of this style but it's all good. Check it out https://bluetech.bandcamp.com/music

Listening to this for perhaps the first time in a decade and I am wondering "how did I not listen to this for so long?" It's a perfect mix of minimal techno and psychedelia (I was planning to just listen to a little then watch something but I can't stop until I get through the whole album ❤️)

Nothing sounds as good as good speakers with a good source, most people don't seem to understand the need for both. If your amp can't keep up with your speakers, you might want to upgrade your amp so it can drive them properly. My father in law has some Bowers & Wilkins 800s but was running them practically unamped 💥 💥 💥 I got him the Classé Delta and boom! What a difference!

Just finished Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir I had heard it referred to as cooperation porn and I was not disappointed. It was Sci Fi with nice characters, cooperating together. Really like how relatable the main character is. He's just a normal person that has been thrust into the position where he has to save the whole of humanity. He meets an alien (out to save his own species from the same plight) that looks like some kind of weird rock spider and calls him "Rocky" when they need to go to this new planet, he let's Rocky name it, and Rocky names it after his spouse back on his planet. As he then needs an English translation, our narrator names this planet Adrian

Watching Alien Earth at the moment. Solid without being great. I watched an episode last night with a bottle of wine and I could remember what happened (not usually a problem when I am really engaged by a show) but still good enough to want to continue. Glad it's not a book as this level of book gets me stuck

Show us your pets. Post your cute fur babies here. No human kids, eww gross 😂 We all think our kids are the cutest but that everyone else is delusional thinking their kids look anything other than some alien potato hybrid. But our pets, other peoples pets???? so much cuteness. Let's see that cuteness overload. We are all having tiring difficult days I am sure, so let's bleach those eyes with cuteness. Here's my little pupper. Goes by the name of Marlowe, or Marley Marlstain to his friends

Been having horrendous luck commuting recently. Getting into work? No problem, no time off for you due to late trains. Coming home? 4 of the last 6 days has seen significant delays. One day was more than 3 hours late Today when I finally got on the train and amazingly got a seat, the man next too me smelt like the personification of halitosis. When he finally got off, someone ripped a massive fart that lingered almost the entire trip. Got back to my station and it wasn't raining so took my bike home, halfway the heavens opened 🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️ At least my dog was happy to see me when I got home 😊

3/10 It's horrible, but I've heard worse, some even lauded by some Goa fans.

Talk about decent dark old school! Twisted Travellers made some absolutely great stuff back then. I'd rate this 9/10 Thx for reminding of this fun game....
