HappyHorse Posted January 1, 2013 Author Share Posted January 1, 2013 don't worry guys: we also plan 1) Artha CD with unrl older stuff (more news later - style "DNA"), also a new comp. with a more melodic and melancholic approach and 3) a full KOB (aka Filteia) CD.... But first we want to try new ways of selling our music, cause we (cronomi) loose too much money in our current way of releasing music (pressing CD's and selling them). I wonder, if we go digital, we wouldn't fase this problem? Press 100 limited editions (CD in jewel case) + rest digital: "would that help?" draeke Posted January 13, 2013 Share Posted January 13, 2013 Hello Inada, pressing 100 copies, would it be really doable? wouldn't it cost as much as pressing 300? With 300 u can sell them even in 3 years. Even on DAT I sometimes need 3+ years to sell 1000 copies and in some cases maybe it won't even happen, but if you decide to go 100% digital be aware that you have to spread your releases everywhere and advertise them very well. I personally think oldschool sells better on cd and full-on modern in digital through beatport and similar but that is just my perception. And the music has to be really good because there is a lot of competition. What left me astonished is that BPC is by far the album that sold most on digital, more than on CD so maybe very old 93 trance is sought after on digital platforms! Padmapani Posted January 13, 2013 Share Posted January 13, 2013 I personally think oldschool sells better on cd judging by i what i do, i'd tend to agree. if i'm not 100% sure that i'll like a release i'll download (for free) and if the album indeed is good, then i'll want a physical copy including cover art and booklet. and a lot of us are collectors who would even buy a rare album second hand for a way too high price.
