do you get all your records from ebay or what?

I'm wondering how it's possible you always catch such rarities :)

Usually it's ebay, yes. This was all ebay, for example.

Yeah, a real bummer it wasn't the entire box set... but seeing as I never expected to find the vinyl, this'll do =) I hope to complete my Matsuri vinyl collection in the next 2 months.

interestingly ukiro, you can thank me for that vinyl - if it's the one I'm thinking of.

I tracked the guy down on Gemm and offered him 30$ for it because he said

there was a visible mark on the clear vinyl. So he 'used' me to gauge

the approximate worth of it and dropped it into ebay.

It would be nice to have that whole box set. Miyake is a kick ass designer.

Doesn't really matter that he has nothing really to do with the music :o

Congratulations!

VERY sweet as well! I've been playing Orientrance in some of my sets, the mood is very very thick, good opener.

The D5 album alone could easily bring in 35 if it's vinyl and at least two times that if it's CD.

Melanocorypha snagged a handsome lot of CDs yesterday.

A whole bunch of BNE and Hed-Arzi and Yoyo things and some others

that weren't on Discogs. But I had already maxxed out. I am done for a

little bit. (I hope) ukiro we need to start an AA type of thing I think.

I also landed a test press of LSD/Alpha Centauri (valuable to me)

Crop Circles EP and 15 other vinyls which are going to leave a mark.

And Jikkenteki that is a marvelous harvest!

God I see that diamonde7 has two goddamned Nippon Crown

CDs that I want. Starting bid 22 pounds. I am getting to the point

where I won't pay a single dollar for something I want because all the

Germans want 8 euros to ship a 99 cent CD :(

They are all vinyls...

I know what you mean though. When I decide to bid on something

I always consider "could I dump this shit and get my money back

if I had to" But the D5 vinyl has the same tracks as the CD anyway

so for personal enjoyment (obviously a subordinate consideration)

purposes it is nearly as good. And I can always make a .wav dump.

I saw that package and I initially had my max bid planned to about 100 dollars. But so many other things came up, so I cancelled it. Very frustrating to let the Doctor Acid CD go, for example =/

I actually had all the TIP stuff in the lot I got, but I wanted the other stuff and the TIP vinyl is all back in the US so I figured why not, the prices I paid for those individually was probably less than to ship my copies I have already from the US to Japan so... The Juno CD was the big cost item, the rest I got at some rather crazy prices.. Another case of a seller who doesn't know what he has meets no one in Japan buys vinyl anyways....

Yeah this is something ukiro and I have discussed before. The

logistics would be tricky; i.e. who gets what.

This auction for example: 4820052312

ukiro needs the test presses and I just want the good releases...

I tried to work it with devious as well but again there can be problems...

So many advantages could be reaped in this manner though.

As an example, say you have a vinyl collector in Europe and a CD collector

in Canada. The pile of vinyls/CDs shipped from Europe will obviously be

way cheaper, etc.......

This discussion should perhaps be forked off into a thread of it's own, so I'll just make one final comment in here; I think the best tactic would be to agree on who gets what before the auction ends, or before the purchase is made (if the exact content is known). If it turns out that one of the records you were getting is scratched, then tough luck, the agreed division should not be changed.

I'm getting a HUGE batch in a week or two, and I'm splitting it with a friend. But we don't know what's in it! Only a few items are known, and then it's vague; We know some labels, a rough figure for the overall amount, and that it's very diverse. But since me and this guy are good friends, we know that we won't end up fighting about the rarities. But if we were just "internet mates" that had never met, it would be much, much harder to get along =)
