  1. Not always true I had a lot of good comments from people who really know their shit about the mastering I did for our Voice of Cod album. But yes - most often it really helps the sound for a different pair of ears to make the final overall adjustments.
  2. I can do the odd track here and there for you but I'm doing a lot of free netlabel stuff at the moment and I need to keep my schedule somewhat free for paying jobs, so I'm not really interested in taking on a large free project at this time. Like I said though, ones and twos is possible.
  3. Try telling Vince Clarke that. Or the guy who designed that synth, what was it called again, oh yes - the TR909. Also: where do you think all these kick samples come from in the first place? They don't just fall from the sky, thrown down by Thor to give man the Gift of Bass; people make them. On synths. The most successful kick I ever made was layered out of a sound from a home-made analog synth (low end) and the top end of a detuned 909 sample. We used it on this - it sounds very similar to the classic MWNN kick. (AFAIK our EP came out before Moment of Truth... ) Flattering to be used as a comparison point above but really, these days I use sampled kicks all the time, although I don't sample them myself - I'm in the fortunate position of people sending me unsolicited random kicks they've either sampled or been sent themselves (cheers Pavel, Tron!) or made themselves (cheers Hujaboy!). In return I've put a couple of my kicks online as part of the Isratrance Kick Exchange Project, including one of the best kicks I ever made (IMNSHO): www.oood.net/public/oood_aliased_kick.wav, which we used on the Voice of Cod album.
  4. Recently? Or pre-2001? AFAIK the only store you can still get it in is Tower Records in Tel Aviv, since it was pressed in Israel.
  5. Analogic/Bionic delay with feedback over 50, but BE CAREFUL! Sticking RVox on the delay return can help keep levels up with lower feedback amounts too.
  6. Proper. Really enjoyed that, would love to see a full set of this live.
  7. You should check out the miXile tracks too when you're off hiking sometime, that's how they were meant to be heard.
  8. Thanks Oopie! 'How' = modified TB303 with CV inputs, sequenced from Cubase. The main riff is actually played on one note - the melody comes from the filter picking out different harmonics from that one note. The deeper 'how' = inspiration from Underworld - Rez and a reasonable amount of LSD. Back on topic... Thanks Antic, I'm well chuffed. Unfortunately it doesn't count as I made you say it!
  9. hahahahahahano. Not for me to say, I'm far far far too biassed... however if someone else mentions it then I'll be well chuffed!
  10. I'd post on this thread if I didn't think everyone would jump down my throat for naming one of my own tunes.
  11. Ok mate, last time I'm changing it, there's only so much effort I can put into just keeping you happy. Hope this avatar is more palatable to you.
  12. Yeah, I'm pretty sure. Sorry Charlie, hope that's better now.
  13. Did you know that Grant doesn't actually own a copy of Awakening himself?
  14. It's always worked very well for me, Rewiring Reason in to SX. The last track we did like this had over 50 Rewire channels active, as I recall.
  15. Billy... you're awesome. And what you do is awesome too. Just keep doing all this stuff, one day it will pay off. It just can't not.
  16. I reverse-engineered the Dr. Octopus 303 line once, on a real 303. Most satisfying; it was my favourite track at the time.
  17. If you really want to convert someone to goa, I suggest a blotter and Hallucinogen: Twisted.
  18. Always nice to hear people still remember those tracks, we were particularly pleased with them ourselves, as it goes! http://www.toonhound.com/bluecat.htm All the samples are spoken by Dougal: "Perhaps I'm dreaming? hehehe/Well I never!/Well the next thing that happened was... a noise" "Out of this world" "I'm not easily frightened, but this... cor!" "Then I heard something else..." "Perhaps I'm dreaming? hehehe" There are also some samples from a CD lent to us by a friend who was working for a Formula 1 racing team, recorded by the team at the trackside during a race.
  19. ABL2 is good for straight 303 effects. Phoscyon is a virtual Devilfish modded-303 so has more range for tweaking and covers a slightly different section of the TB303 sonic landscape - you can get classic 303 sounds out of it that you will not get from ABL2. Neither offer a complete emulation but both are very good for different aspects of 303 riffage. To distort the 303 in the old days I used to turn the gain up full on the 303's mixer channel.
  20. Analogic/Bionic delay Waves Supertap Cubase Stereo Delay
  21. Hehe glad you appreciated the subtlety and thought it was nice Better nice and subtle than... um... some of the self-promotion I've posted on here in the past :drama:
  22. You probably know this already but www.flyingrhino.co.uk is live...
