  1. wow. the video teaser, the booklet case, the countdown timer, including a t-shirt and backdrop packages. these are all such brilliant ways of releasing an album. i would love to get the t-shirt but i doubt my wife would let me wear it since she is very aggressive about my clothing choices. if you're single this won't make any sense but if you're married you'd understand... if the dedication towards crafting the album is anywhere near the level of promoting it, all 4 cd's are going to be a magical journey! i'll have to start saving my money for the artwork... pretty sure i've visited that planet before
  2. if you want to know what the Japanese scene is like check out these listings... http://www.trancelife.net/ has all the psy acts and events in japan for the next few months... GMS coming to Tokyo this weekend!
  3. i never made any conclusion on IM as people... making bad music doesn't make you a bad guy. but bad guys do make bad music. i feel that an artist that has done that inner exploration and found a place of humbleness would likely produce better music than someone who is arrogant. it's not just music but all facets of life. hence the proverb. that being said, i just watched the video of their album preview... and you can tell Duvdev was thinking, "i should put on my sunglasses for a dimly lit video session indoors to maintain my cool image"...
  4. isn't there a proverb somewhere... "A bad tree does not yield good apples." i've never met or seen interactions of the IM dudes... but it stands to reason that if music is an expression of the soul and your soul is tainted, then your music will reflect that. having listened to the full album... my opinion stands... yuck. i couldn't quite put my finger on it... the lack of mystery, depth or vibes... but i think you hit the nail on the head, it sounds like obnoxious dick music. i would like to officially nominate Infected Mushroom be retired from the annals of psytrance from here on. their new barely psy-based tracks sound like amateurs compared to the artists featured in the best psy albums of 2016 thread.
  5. i thought they were back on psy as well but know better than to be fooled... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hp-U5T5Ydo&index=1&list=RD2hp-U5T5Ydo track 8 and 9 off the new album apparently... yuck.
  6. i realize it's still early but so far less than 40 unique uptempo albums have been listed the past two years saw almost 80 different uptempo releases mentioned, so hopefully we get a bit more submissions by the time the results are tallied up
  7. i tried out dozens of mid-range headphones at one of my local audio shops... the best sound for me was the V-Moda M-100's. Not necessarily the best if you want to listen to classical or rock as the mids are a bit recessed but in terms of recreating that club atmosphere of booming bass and clear digital effects it was unmatched. it's a bit bulky if you want to keep them wrapped around your neck for extended periods of time but they fold up nicely if you have a bag to put them in.
  8. no. that never happened with me. i swear. couldn't be further from the truth. please. don't tell anyone.
  9. i actually ended up going back to my original psytrance preset (without the increased mids/highs) for my next round of listening as some of the high tones (by about halfway through the album) were too piercing. having those high tones going constantly for 70 minutes makes for an exhausting experience. once i toned it down, it was much more relaxing. that seems to be one of the hallmarks of artha's production... his music is intense and exhilarating, but it has this gentleness to it that separates itself from the standard goa album. a perfect example of this is track 03, theory of the ghost. the bassline sounds almost like dark psy (which i rarely ever like) but it somehow retains a friendly groove without descending into chaos.
  10. After a couple of full listens, I am enjoying the album more than you (4.5 from me... so far) but I definitely agree with you about the mastering. I have a preset equalizer for psytrance that seems to work perfectly with just about any album, but with this album in particular it's a little more cloudy on the high end than I'd like. A small tweak does get the sound to sparkle at the level I want it to, but it is definitely something to note. A warmer master is still much better than an overly sibilant one though.
