  1. I was about to buy this but then I found it in my CD collection. How could I have forgotten I bought it?? It's great and needs more play time.

I guess this album holds some kind of a spell that makes you forget it for a decade and then rediscover it again :)

  2. Well, i'll be brief and ripe.

So much potential in the producer, i am really waiting for the upcoming releases.

Me too. He told me that the second album is going to be even better. Im gonna lose my mind if he manages to surpass the first one. He's gonna do great things for the psy-trance scene I feel it in my gut! ;)

    Artist: Morphic Resonance

    Title: The City Of Moons

    Label: Suntrip Records

    Release date: 13. May 2016

    Total runtime: 76:27

    Tracklist:

    1: Psychedelic Hell

2: In The Mouth of Madness

    3: The City of Moons

    4: Bad Dreamer

    5: Chronos

    6: Procyon

    7: Mindwarp

8: Sun Project - Space Dwarfs (Morphic Resonance Remix)

I remember wishing for a crazy acid influenced goa trance release at the start of the year, and here it is in all its glory! The recipe is same through-out the album: fast, dark and acidic so I will just say how the tracks made me feel.

1: Psychedelic Hell: Christian leads us into the album with a dark track that pounds us from the start. A great opening track that let's us know that we have entered a cave riddled with exploding geysers of acid. No turning back now, not that you will want to. A

2: In the Mouth Of Madness: This track is perfect in every sence. If this doesnt make you get of your chair and hop around the room, nothing ever will. @6:45 had me flying. A

3: The City Of Moons: Here I was just hooked. I hadnt even listened to the whole album and I was on bandcamp, throwing my bloody 3 days worth launch money at this album as if it was Carmen Electra. It is a long track with amazing progression. A worthy title track. I pledge my allegiance to Morphic Resonance, first of his name, the moon-king and slayer of minds. A+

4: Bad Dreamer: Ok, now Im starting to perspire profusely. If you haven't been working out, you may feel tightness in your chest by this point. Don't say I didnt warn you. A very strong track with schizophrenia inducing acid lines. A

5: Chronos: You dont need drugs to hallucinate, just listen to this one carefully. A very psychedelic and creative track IMO. A-

6: Procyon: This one feels like a wheel rolling out of itself in a rhythmic fashion. Not as in your face as previous ones, but very impressive! A-

7: Mindwarp: Not as good as previous ones, but still good. A bit too repetitive for my taste, B

8: Sun Project - Space Dwarfs (Morphic Resonance Remix): Everyone knows the original track. One of the best S.U.N. Project has made. But what if I told you that Christian's remix makes it even greater even though all the elements of the original track are still here. My vocabulary isn't worthy of describing this track to you! It is one of those extremely rare remixes that actually surpass the original. It's like climbing to the peak of Mount Everest, setting up a ladder and standing upon it just to show that you can go even higher! A+ with a cherry on top!

    Final grade: A

Final words: This is up there with "The World Beyond" by Neogoa for me, which is huge. This album is the first one that I own in a physical form (a cd) and it represents everything I love in goa trance. Thank you Morphic Resonance, and thank you Suntrip Records for releasing such a huge album.

  4. Sorry (not really) for being a buzzkill here, but are we making fun of delusional people for fun now? Troll or not, I dont think this should be on this forum... We're not on reddit or something for crying out loud

  5. Depends on how you percieve truth. Is something rational because you understand or feel something that way, or because most people on earth understand and feel that way about the same thing?

I mean the old lady example is completely rational to you, but it may be irrational to me because well... Im not you.

  6. +1 (Although it's debatable whether there's anything irrational about this.)

True, although there is always a reason why something annoys you making every source rational, am I wrong?

  7. Well I guess I realized that I dont really want for the scene to be any bigger than it is. Its just right. Small and very warm. I love how whenever I write a letter to an artist they always have time to reply and it actually feels like I made a possitive impact on them with my compliments and critique. Especially here on psynews. i guess that wouldnt be the case if the scene was a lot bigger.

  8.

i used to get angry about the same thing too some time ago, but let's face it: people are tasteless and incredibly stupid (even more so when in large groups or on alcohol (also other substances to some degree)), but you cannot give them a better taste or make them more intelligent. your choices are either getting frustrated and feeling angry because of them, or thinking "they want to eat shit, let them eat shit!". of course that won't get you good music at festivals, but in the rare moments when you do you'll be pleasantly surprised as opposed to being upset when the music is shit (which is most of the time) ;)

I know it boils down to that but I'm somewhat a neurotic so I can try to chill out but the anger will always be there. :D

  9. I just remembered something that pisses me off VERY DEEPLY!

PEOPLE FREAKING WHISTLING LIKE IDIOTS ON A PSYTRANCE RAVE!

I mean seriously! Besides coming to a rave to dance, I also come to listen to tracks I maybe dont know and people keep bloody whistling in my ear.

  10. It WAS actually pretty creative at the time, paving the way for an insane amount of clones and lookalike tracks. Also since when is lenght a criterium for quality? :P Shortmovies, shortstories, etc. can be amazing. Why not short tracks?

Another thing, danceability is clearly 100% subjective and the majority of electronic music listeners disagrees with your point of view. So who are we to tell 'em the'yre wrong? What's the point?

Yes, you catch my drift, I don't agree with the way Goa is being put on a pedestal in contrast to (no matter what kind of) other (electronic) music styles. Every kind of music has its story, every kind of style has good and bad examples. Every kind of style also has its fair share of avid fanboys screaming their music is the best.

Live and let live...that's what I say. Don't try to figure out why it's less popular than you'd like. There's no point. :3

Im still not seeing the track being anything more than kitch. Which it obviously is.

I just dont see how a dj screaming "put your hands up in the air" 250 times in 5 minutes can be appealing. I understand this is based on subjectivity,so is me "putting goa on a pedistal" and ranting against EDM. And today, almost every festival is plagued by this. No chance of me seeing proper music now because other people are tasteless.

  11. People tend to think so because in psy you hear lots of layers, various unusual sounds which makes you think that it is very complicated to make, but actually making a typical EDM track is also technically very complex task - the arrangement usually seems simple but there is a lot going on under the hood to make it sound as fat, big and banging as required by today's standards.

Khm. This and complex dont go well in the same sentance

Id rate creativity 2/10 since it sounds like any other summer hit made in the last 5 years and its 3minutes long.

    complexity 1/10

    danceability 0/10

Heard this guy at Exit festival last year and people were all like "Go hard or go home" while I was "Hardwell go home" and went to trance stage where mostly paytrance was being played. Dont know which was worse. I seriously dont know what was in my head when I went to buy a ticket for that festival...

Anyway "Paytrance." I think Starkraver invented my new favorite word on accident :P
