  1. Stupid triple posts ... :pissed: :pissed:

  5. Glad to hear. Yeah, I guess the political right thing would be to appreciate this album but it's simply too cheesy I expected this to be underground and good but it's so completely off my taste
  6. Act: Vibrasphere (remixed by various artists) Title: Archipelago Remixed Label: Digital Structures Release date: 20. march 2007 Tracks: 1 Tierra Azul (Omnimotion Featuring Krister Linder Remix) (3:39) 2 Reservoir (Fiord Remix) (7:46) 3 Sweet September (Perfect Stranger Remix) (9:18) 4 Landmark (Allaby Remix) (8:33) 5 Morning Breeze (Atmos Remix) (8:00) 6 Sudden Comfort (Decoy Remix) (8:37) 7 Baltic Resonance (Solar Fields Remix) (8:56) 8 Seven Days To Daylight (Unai Remix) (6:55) 9 Late Winter Storms (Tobias Lilja Remix) (7:35) Everyone’s jumping the house band wagon these days or what? Another recent Digital Structures release (Ticon’s 2am) also embraced mainstream electro house and Archipelago Remixed has mainstream potential too. #1. Certainly Omnimotion’s version of Tierra Azul is as far away from progressive trance as an electro pop ballad can get. What happened to Digital Structures mean street? Skip! #2. Antix – under the Fiord moniker – to the rescue on Reservoir? Yes and no, the horrible vocals from the opener are off and Reservoir has a nice flow in line with the Vibrasphere sound we’re accustomed to. On the other hand, it never sweeps me off my feet. A decent filler tune at the chill out stage I reckon that could set things up for a party. The vibe certainly is trying to please. #3. Perfect Stranger’s take on Sweet September follows this path. Vibrasphere based but with an aggressiveness I often miss with Vibrasphere. Yet, the trees aren’t growing high up in the sky. When the aggressiveness turns into melodic proggy half ways through I miss the balls that were flashed earlier. At the right moment it might work, though, and surely Vibrasphere followers will enjoy this track. #4. My knowledge of Allaby is limited. I’ve only heard him on Tristan’s Twisted Sessions Vol. 1 from 2002 but his contribution there ranks high with me. With Landmark Allaby does not disappoint me. We’re now well inside progressive territories and after the break at 5:33 Allaby steers this track safely home. Best track so far. #5. Atmos’ been keeping a low profile since, possibly, my all time favourite minimal progressive album 2nd brigade from 2004. How’s he faring as a remixer? Like Atmos and that’s all I need to say. Stripping Morning Breeze and setting a ligther beat than the original this is another good track on the album. 2nd Brigade success like? No. Hell no! 2B is mean and Morning Breeze maintains a positive vibe also thanks to the riff kicking in halfways. But if Atmos borders cheesy now and then you can rest assured that he’s still too advanced to be dismissed easily. This commenter is crossing fingers for the upcoming Atmos release also to be released on DS. #6. Decoy is yet another new act with two releases from 2006 and 2007 behind them on Israeli progressive trance label Dance N Dust. I haven’t heard these but Decoy’s house influences are obvious. I’m not big on the “it’s gonna be a while” sample but the track progresses nicely and I’m sure this could be a hands in the air morning stomper. With pros and cons implied intentionally. Decent track. #7. The development of Solar Fields has been an interesting one to follow. His chill out releases on Ultimae are exceptionally well crafted but mostly it’s been his border progressive tracks that’s left me most impressed. He took the whole step in 2007 with EarthShine and Baltic Resonance sees him playing out his ideas. With moderate success. I’m sure this has sunrise appeal but skip the last two minutes where it goes Popcorn and personally I’d prefer this on the chill-out at sundown if a daring dj says wtf ... #8. I’ve read appraisals of Swedish based Unai and fancy his approach on Seven Days. Minimal electro style house with a smooth vibe. Thing is I can’t stand his theme kicking in at 1:18. Wtf is this? Supertramp? Without that I might have been more impressed. Next! #9. Not surprisingly the Late Winter Storms remix by Thomas Lilja offers the closing chill out track on an otherwise house/progressive based album. Not bad but in all honesty it sounds like just another off the mill track. Summarizing, the reason for getting this album comes midways. Allaby, Atmos and Decoy delivers admirable if not breathtaking remixes. The remainder is by no means terrible. We’re talking about Swedish noveltys Vibrasphere, after all, but these tracks didn’t really layer any huge impression. Not as good as I hoped for but Vibrasphere followers should definitely still get it. The remixes fit as a very nice addition to the originals and I’m sure one may hear several of these tracks and only halfways go “Hey, I’ve heard that before haven’t I …?”
  7. Artist: SolarQuest Title: Sola Luna (double cd with first cd named Sola and second named Luna) Label: Entropica Released: 20. jan 2008 Tracks: Sola (79:49) 1.1 Tokers Dream (7:45) 1.2 Astra (9:53) 1.3 Aphelion (7:44) 1.4 Zen Again (3:42) 1.5 Ananda (5:42) 1.6 Philosophy (6:22) 1.7 Eye Mage (4:07) 1.8 Ascendant (4:54) 1.9 Silken Threads Of Now (8:35) 1.10 Sirius Mind (7:07) 1.11 Venus In Retro (5:47) 1.12 Celestial Mass (8:06) Luna (79:49) 2.1 Buntaar (5:14) 2.2 Reception Deception (10:21) 2.3 Khali's Curtains (5:39) 2.4 Entropica Cafe (9:18) 2.5 Halcyon (4:22) 2.6 Perihelion (6:02) 2.7 Pupae (5:39) 2.8 Water Walk (4:44) 2.9 Opposition (6:51) 2.10 Arrigato Zaisho (4:00) 2.11 Quaesine (10:31) 2.12 Trisine (7:03) I’m gonna be frank with you. I don’t like Sola Luna. To the point where I’m about to declare it sucking donkeys’ ass. Admittedly, this could all come down to taste in which case it wouldn’t matter if George Saunders had the skills of a master jedi. If it’s not your style you won’t dig it and Indian inspired chill-out music has always been a test for me. So too here with all the trademarks of this genre present. The up beat flutes, the relentless sitars, the Indian tribal percussion. Add to this a female voice sounding as if she bore the weight of having found the meaning of life & love on her shoulders this climbs further and further up the ladder of cheeze. Trust me, I am doing my best to work with it. Perhaps Entheogenic’s Dialogue Of The Speakers is not completely comparable to Sola Luna but Dialogue is a big hit in my chill out book so it’s not like I cannot appreciate Indian inspired chill out at all. But there’s a fine line between soothing psy-ambient soundscapes and new age bullshit and while the non-vocal sections may work as a back-drop I can't survive the vocal sections. I mean check out this message from Celestial Mass: "Love is a constant consistent flow of life, it is the vehicle of Prana, it is the divine ingredients, it is the ever was and ever shall be, love is forever bla bla bla ..." In all fairness disc 2 Luna works better than Sola. On the first half the vocals are mostly off and a couple of tracks here could probably make me sleep in tight and sweet. But why the hell do they have to include lines like: "Purifying waters, as moon shines on the sea, the water flows, all waters flow and the waves crash against the sea ..." from Pupae. Come fucking on! I have no doubt there is a market for this type of music. I know my copy is for sale and followers of new age muzak may very well get a kick out of this. I don’t.

    Ticon - 2AM

+1 Is this album creeping up on you? My expectations for 2am weren’t huge. In fact it took me two months to order! Here from psynews I’d heard Ticon desribed as having gone complete haywire commercial electro house. Have they sold out? Still, the opener 1987 suited me freaking good. Electro House? Uh, maybe, but, damn, it’s freaking rocking! And follow up Zebra Beat’s got a pretty strong catchiness to it too! I mean, what the fuck. If that is what is getting bashed I’m still glad I bought the album. The groove is wonderful. The sections without vocals are my favorite parts but in between daft vocals it’s pretty strong. The coming single (?) Models On Cocaine unleashes its’ power. Wizzy Noise full on founded it has a Shakespeare speech in vocode mode going on. Motherfucking goat, you are testing me! Could this be the Ticon addition that has psytrance circles bashing this album. Those vocals certainly ensures that that these tracks never go *all the way up there* but they weren’t that bad either. But could it be going downhill from here? Weekend Warriors next. What?! This aint electro House, ladies and gentlemen. And this ain’t full on either. That was shere listening enjoyment. 5/5. This is where the creepy part comes up. Spitfire is pretty electro house. What Trentemøller's club music could be if dared going further. You could call this hard electro house but you cann’t call it 23pm mainstream! In The Box takes over. Oh, this is where the Electro House goes haywire. WTF are those vocals doing?! Are we setting ourselves up for a Kylie Minogue remix job? Which makes this track difficult. The parts without vocals are corny as a fucker but the parts with vocals challenges me like a motherfucker! An who gave Ticon the idea to put Filip Mårdberg on on We’re Shining? At this point I’m thinking this album could go either way. There’s been some great tracks but is it still a let down? Rest assured 2am give me faith. The vocals are off and it’s a long chiller. Closing track Less Is More takes over and you get the best of what made Ticon Ticon from early on. The surfing full on bass from Zero Six After, the hard line from Aero, the spine from Rewind. Ticon almost end up biting off more than they can chew. After a 3 minutes killargh entry they leave you with Sash advanced and you’re thinking I wanna be a little bit more tough than that. California reefer anyone? Fuck it, count me in. Sure, they’re as close to German hard core without leather pants as you can get but the deep parts can take me for a ride when I let them Alas, with the last two minutes of Less Is More sending me out I need to reach my verdict. Is this a new Aero? No. Is this recommended? Yes. Hell, yes! There’s hoops of good songs. Sure, Ticon is more crowd-pleased than they have ever been but that ain’t bad now and then either. I’m a fan of Ticon and I’m still with them. They have been meaner. Much meaner. But they’re a happy acquiantance and if they let out the vocals next time I’m with them all the way. 4/5.
  9. And I shall add that Pat F.O.C. sent me his surplus artwork from Doof's Let's Turn On. I had the cd already with high res photocopy prints. Pat had original artwork. Sent fast, perfect and for free. I owe you one Pat!!
  10. Classic .. :drama: Picked up a package from the post office earlier today. Just made it after they closed but convinced the stressed clerk with a BIG pleasing smile on my face to help me. Even called her an angel Christ, am I the materialist or what. On top, from DPs thread about sending surplus covers and stuff to other psynewsers I received the artwork to this today from Technosomy Thank you again Pat! From the post office got this nice batch of new music: From Drosophila's recommendation. Looking forward to hearing it. Out of stock for ages at psyshop and suddenly it's back .. Luv the artwork. But ... too much music ... overloading ...
  11. Wow, that's amazing! Congrats :clapping:
  12. The sixth installment in the Fahrenheit series follows the path laid down from its’ precessors. Not all tracks sweeps me off my feet but it sure is flowing and with some very nice high pointers here and there. In line with many others my favorite here is Solar Fields. Labelling his Levitate chill-out may be stretching things a bit, though. Seems more like SF was warming up for his progressive release EarthShine with Levitate being one sweet danceable ride from early on. Bliss! Likewise the opener ASD from Scann-Tec is one of my favorites with a long build-up that will work perfect at the chill-out stage when you slowly want to return to the real world. Irukandji’s Whales Street will do this too but, perhaps, slightly less impressive than the opener from Scann-Tec. Another stand-out comes from Sync24 with DOT that reminds me of the opener from Scann-TEC. And represents another trademark track from Ultimae – atmospheric, laid back, and chilly like only Ultimae does it. Sure, I have heard dozens of tracks like this on other Ultimae releases but it has that unmistakeable Ultimae luxury quality to it that easily places a smile on my face. Lastly I need to mention Sundial’s track. Again, nothing groundbreaking but I’m entertained throughout the track and as with most Ultimae tracks I have a feeling this could be a grower. On the downside, the remaining four tracks from Hol Baumann, Cell, H.U.V.A. Network and Aes Dana doesn’t do it for me. All in all, with four fall-outs this doesn’t meet the standard I’m used to from Ultimae. On the other hand, with five good to excellent tracks I reckon this is still a safe purchase.
  13. Nice batch Abasio How's the Solar Quest? I have a copy on the way from Psyshop. Samples sounds very nice. And what the POTS I've been looking to get that too but I've only seen it somewhat pricey. Is it worth it?
  14. Almost completed the series now. And then I shall be very happy ...
  15. My initial infatuation with this album declined rapidly. First time I heard Pure Analog I considered it quality full-on psy-trance. For some reason, though, after a few spins it doesn’t move me anymore. Don’t get me wrong. Pure Analog is designed for the floors and as such I’m sure it'll rock. Certainly I will not rule out that this will have me swinging the old bones once or twice around the block. But that’ll be it I’m afraid. It’s not cheese, but it sure aint hard-core either and after two tracks the formula is crafted in concrete. Full-on bassline, some FX, melody, break, and back on track. That’s all fine – I like the formula – but I also need that element of surprise or anger to sweep me off my feet. And that happens rarely on Pure Analog. The comparison with Astrix’ Eye To Eye from 2002 is obvious but might not be fair since I heard Astrix years before Pure Analog. Still, in my mind Eye To Eye has the edge Pure Analog lacks. It’s like, Pure Analog is almost there and has me going but then never quite delivers and once again has me awaiting the next track. Consequently, even if Pure Analog had potential for way more it lands in my pile of “well ...” albums. Damn, I should never have listened to it repeatedly.
  16. I do that too but then I forgot where I placed them ... They're very different from each other but very enjoyable. So ... enjoy :clapping:
  17. Yeah, you can inflate things on discogs. I didn't even know how crazy until two weeks ago when just for fun I put my X-Dream trip to trancesylvania on sale on discogs. I'm not looking to seel it so just for laughs I put for sale for 2.000 euro adding I accepted offers . After a week the guy that was selling the other copy for sale (asking for 150 euros) asked me if his price was completely off and stated that he didn't want to compete with me. I then checked his cd which he was now selling for 1.000 euros ... I took my version off after. His version is off too.
  18. Why no one mention Yahel Fuck Amen. Go for Etnica and In The Mix. You need both
  19. Hitchhiking From Denmark I would never be afraid to hitchhike to Portugal. From Romania don't know. Haven't tried. Would be and adventure in itself I'm sure. I once saw a tv program about it. The deal was to get for free to Paris from Copenhagen in 24 hours. The guy made it in less than 20. Not paying a dime. Well, food, of course.
  20. My summer is fully booked already with Burning Man accounting for two weeks ... Even more weirdos there ... I would still like to go to one more Boom. SkeletonMan never made it in 2006 so ... Well, who knows. If psytrance still exists. I mean not all being new goa and all
  21. Leggo this time ... I prefer ordering directly from the source The artwork looks breathtaking ..
